  1. Review titled Dreadful

by PETER MCGOWAN - Posted on 23 August 2024

I was referred in June to the programme but the first date I was given for the initial session was unsuitable, so I did as instructed and rearranged it. I attended the rearranged session which was before the original date given, after the original date passed I received an email telling me I had failed to attend my first session and wouldn't be allowed to attend the 2nd session. I responded explaining I had rearranged and the date I completed the rearranged session, I also asked them to check the records and confirm to me that I could attend the 2nd session. No one got back to me so the day before the 2nd session I phoned them to ask what was going on, the person who I dealt with was rude and condescending when I asked why hadn't received a reply and why I had received the email, they insisted I had missed the session and they were quite right to send the email out. Unfortunately due to there attitude I've decided that I'm not dealing with people who have a total lack of social skills and won't be completing the course. I've lost over 5% of my body weight and have changed my diet and exercise levels with the stress of dealing with idiots.

  2. Review titled Very disappointed

Rated 1 star out of 5

After eight successful weeks our case was closed because of missing two phone calls. We were told they wouldn't restart our course until September so basically pay yourself to finish the course or start again from the beginning of September .what a complete waste of NHS money.

  3. Review titled Terrible service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anju Chandna - Posted on 07 June 2024

This appears to be another farmed out service that is milking the NHS dry. Aggressive uncaring phone responses. No follow up appointments for informed absences despite reminders..."read the handbook" was the advice! Several reminders sent via email and phone calls. None followed up on by Reed. It appears as if once they've got you registered and presumably got their fee from the NHS, they do a runner. Its a scam That Needs Investigating. I have worked in the NHS for over 30 years as Head of Service. This is a scandal that needs to be investigated and exposed. Just look at the reviews on numerous websites! I shall be bringing this up with my GP Surgery.

  6. Review titled Very Promising...

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jason - Posted on 15 February 2024

I've only attended the first session of this programme, but it seems very promising. The advisor seems very knowledgeable and approachable. The content of the programme seems to be very informative and I genuinely believe that I will get out of it what I put in. Its made me look forward with open eyes and hopefulness that I can reverse pre diabetes. With the help of this group, I am sure I will.

  7. Review titled Great information

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Willow - Posted on 15 February 2024

I have enjoyed this course. There are lots of hints and tips to help you achieve a realistic goal. Healthy alternatives are given to help reduce sugars and carbohydrates. Nice group atmosphere, we share our successes and alternatives, encouraging each other to a better lifestyle. The coach is really good, encouraging and non judgmental. She encourages us to set realistic goals and expectations so that change is sustainable.

  8. Review titled Unable to sign on

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I have been trying to enrol in this course but they will not accept my birth date so was unable to proceed . I have sent a message so lets see what happens . Reading some of these reviews does not fill me with much confidence. I received some information on the Face to Face curriculum and the writing was too small to understand . Real shame it is one of these contracted out courses . They never work as the main criteria for those running it is profit . I did the Tier 3 wight loss programme and it was excellent and NHS run. Will report back if I ever manage to enrol

  9. Review titled How many coaches does one group require !

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 March 2024

Brilliant idea to focus the mind when your approaching type 2 diabetes, so much information in the book it blows your mind, you can't consume it all & some of it is incorrect! Availability & timing, 13:30 in the middle of the day for 13 days over 9 month, good job I'm retired, doesn't sound a lot, would of been an issue for my employer. It's a loverly group of strangers the core of which are slowly coming together, this is massively hindered by the number of different coaches we've had, 5 sessions done, 5 different coaches, no continuity, no consistance, so don't coach they paraphrase the book page by page or generalise no focus, they believe in the program, it works, ours is just disjointed, confusing, flustrating, annoying, demoralising, a real shame. Coaches on sessions 2 & 5 were brilliant though, the 1.5 hrs flew by, engaging, relatable, supporting. Sessions 1 & 4 a bit blar blar blar, not informative & engaging, finally session 3i don't have the words to describe how poor it was, nearly fell asleep, think the group has halfed in size since the start, going to stay with it to the end as my health is really important to me & my family, have lost 10% of my body weight in 10 weeks, could be attributed to information gained on this Momenta diabeties prevention programme, it is over 9 months, so information becomes a way of life & not a 5 minute fad. Finally if the inconsistencies around presentation continues the NHS should get these sessions for free.

  10. Review titled Not fit for purpose

by Richard - Posted on 27 August 2024

The idea of encouraging people to make changes to their lifestyle to avoid developing diabetes is attractive to anyone in that position. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose. And doing this within a group of people in a similar position opens up a wealth of opportunities. So, in theory this should be a good programme with long term benefits. In practice the programme delivered by Reed Wellbeing is a total waste of time and money. The idea of setting targets, reviewing them and discussing issues with other people in the group is sound. But long before the end of the course this became a meaningless paper exercise. Targets were rarely reviewed or challenged and discussion within the group was, at best a token gesture. At session 6 as part of the Smart Review I wrote, For my successes 'None'. My barriers 'Life'. My solutions 'Die, Starve'. That should have set alarm bells ringing but no one took any notice. The presentation of the course, which in theory should have been good was uninspiring. The coach would regularly read out questions from one page of the handbook and participants would reluctantly read out the answers on the next page. Sessions regularly finished well before the 1 1/2 hours they were supposed to take and some activities, for example having a taster of formal relaxation never happened. The course booklet on page 3 says "......we will be doing this in 13 fun, interactive group sessions". There was nothing "fun" about any of the sessions I attended. The group rarely interacted in a purposeful way, possibly because of the high dropout rate. Which raises the question why do so many people drop out? Motivation, enjoyment and challenge are key to the success of any programme like this. Sadly these were all missing from the course I attended. After a successful career in education I consider myself to be pretty good at judging training programmes. If OFSTED had observed any of the sessions I attended they would have graded the majority as inadequate. I would be interested to know how much the programme costs per person and would suggest this could be better spent elsewhere. I also look forward to reading a reply to this review. I have noted that non of the negative reviews to date have received one yet.
