I went in on Sunday at 18.30 and was home by 20.30 after getting cellulitis from mosquito bites. I was seen and discharged with antibiotics very quickly. Well done Worthing A&E

  3. Review titled Enhanced Surgery Care Unit are wonderful

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 September 2023

I have come home today after a few days on the Enhanced Surgery ward. I hope you Trust senior managers know just how lucky you are to have this nursing team. Every one of them have shown professional, yet personable, compassionate care. Much needed after an emergency appendix removal! There was a very high maintenance patient on my ward and not once did they get cross with them. Just a wonderful bunch of very hardworking, dedicated nurses.

  4. Review titled Fast, friendly and efficient service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alan Ball - Posted on 22 September 2023

On a day of strike action, I was requested by my Doctor's surgery to attend A & E for a possible Achilles tendon tear. From registering at the reception, to completion with me leaving in a taxi with a boot and crutches in tow, was just over three hours. This was quite something when you consider that a blood test (followed by results) was required in this process. At all times, I felt that the doctor and nurses were not only totally professional but expedited what was required in what , to me, was quite an incredible time scale. Thank you all.

  6. Review titled Endoscopy review

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Richard Inwood - Posted on 08 August 2023

I attended Endoscopy yesterday for a gastro investigation. I was treated with great care and respect by all the staff and felt I was being cared for in the unit. The procedure was explained to me at the start and the staff made time for my questions both in preparation and during the procedure. After I was in the recovery room I was given great care. This is a well run and caring department.

  7. Review titled First Rate Care in Cardiology

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Roger Allingham - Posted on 22 August 2023

Having experienced an heart attack on Sunday I was admitted, reviewed, cared for initially on Majors, A & E and transferred to the Cardiac unit before receiving a stent in the angioplasty facility. At every juncture I was treated with dignity, real compassion and a high level of expertise. The process was explained in sufficient detail that I felt informed but not overwhelmed. The nurses on Courtlands Ward did their utmost to make the experience as comfortable and accessible as possible. I felt, after the procedure and through to my discharge, that I was important, cared for and the staff worked tirelessly throughout. Huge thanks to all who made my stay such a satisfying experience. 8. Review titled Exemplary care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kim Protheroe - Posted on 03 August 2023

My brother & I spent a day in A&E with our elderly mother who was very poorly. We cannot speak highly enough of the care shown to both her and us throughout the time we were there by all staff, both medical and non-medical. We were kept informed at every stage of the content and results of various tests as the day progressed, and members of both the surgical and medical teams took the time to make sure we knew what was going on and communicated extremely clearly, sympathetically and non-patronisingly. At all times, nurses and HCAs were also attentive and caring. We were in the resuscitation unit for most of the day, then transferred to Zone B of the Emergency Floor. As well as the exemplary care and great communications displayed throughout the day, we were also very impressed with the clean and bright surrounds, and general air of capability and calm throughout. All of this combined to make what was a very difficult day for us all as good an experience as possible. Big thanks and appreciation to all staff on duty that day.

  10. Review titled Outstanding and fast response to stroke

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by VicS Storrington - Posted on 26 August 2023

Fortunately the (review restrictions means fast must be written in lower case) campaign resulted in my wife knowing that she needed to contact emergency services. I had noticed nothing was wrong when mowing the lawn on a hot day. On a tea break my wife saw that I was drooling from the side of my mouth and my left lip had dropped. An Ambulance arrived in about ten minutes . The paramedics were carried out thorough checks. They were kind and supporting and assured me that it was essential they take me to A&E and I would not have a long wait for attention. On arrival at Worthing Hospital I was wheeled immediately into the A&E stroke unit an I felt reasonably OK. I thought my speech was almost normal but joked with one of the team when I got stuck on finishing a difficult sentence. Was so grateful to be able to use my mobile phone and let my daughter and wife know about my progress. Once all the initial consultations, ECG and other monitors plus blood tests had been completed I was advised about the future plans. These would be a brain scan and checks of the main arteries in the neck. All this took place within a relatively short period of time and I was discharged in the early afternoon. Fortunately brain scan, ECGs and neck arteries were fine. The diagnosis was a TIA (or mini-stroke) and that I should not drive for a period of one month. Fortunate to have completed this review without typos! I am a fast touch typist and yesterday one hand was faster than the other! Special thanks to all the NHS team from call centre, stroke team and those providing the cleaning and other domestic services. Sincere hope that those providing care in the NHS are able to do so with assurances that inflation and other factors do not mean their own families do not suffer because of their dedication to others.
