  1. Review titled Caring and very compassionate

Rated 5 stars out of 5

What I’ve had to go through (missed miscarriage) could have been a much harder process to go through without the care and kindness and understanding that everyone I’ve encountered from the staff at the epu and gacau. We are so lucky to have the NHS and the wonderful people that work there, who clearly not paid enough. I really hope that changes soon. I will be forever grateful for the way they looked after me and will never take it for granted. Thank you so much.

Been to WGH 5 times in 18 months...High blood pressure mainly with heart irregularity...could not have been more professional! Each visit I made was thoroughly attended to from begining to the end with such caring professional staff...every stage and result of blood tests etc was explained so I would know what was happening. Not once did I feel a nuisance and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel happy and safe...from the cleaning staff to the doctors who are a great bunch and very gentle loving kind and professional...my only complaint was the food! ..thank you to WGH...

After 5 weeks visiting my gp practice I attend Watford hospital. I registered at 8am saw a doctor at 8.30 he was unsure of what was occurring to my skin. Waited another 15 minutes 2 more lovely doctors, said they would call dermatologist but very sorry maybe a bit of a wait. No problem after 45 mins saw a lovely lady who diagnosed me gave me a prescription and booked into her clinic in one month. All the time I was visiting the doctors to people actually looked at my skin. I was prescribed antihistamines and some cream it worsened until I couldn’t stand sit lay down. So glad I went to the hospital. And yes I will be seeking a new GP surgery Brilliant service from WGH thank you thank you

I am forever grateful for the fantastic care I received during my stay at Watford General Hospital. After fainting, I was admitted and had to have a pacemeker inserted. From the Accident & Emergency staff to the nursing team on the Acute Assessment Unit and the Cardiologist and Cardiac department, I cannot praise you enough for such excellent care. You are all shining examples of what a wonderful National Health Service we have! Thank you

  7. Review titled Genuine kind and caring doctor

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by emma - Posted on 07 February 2023

I visited accident and emergency on sat 4th feb as I had blood in my urine and I was in severe pain. I could barely stand. Doctors surgery ignored my calls and emails all day. I was deteriorating by the minute. I was booked in and saw the triage nurse who offered me some paracetamol for the pain. I accepted. I saw the doctor in accident annd emergency and he tested my urine sample and said I had a urinary tract infection. He showed me the strip he dipped into my urine and explained it. I told him I felt really ill. He prescribed nitrofurantoin 100 mg twice daily and gave me some pain killers for the pain. He was very understanding and kind. He told me to take a urine sample to my doctors surgery and have it tested to make sure I’m on the right antibiotics. I did this. Three days later and I’m well and back on my feet. The antibiotics worked. I had no choice but to attend the hospital I had nowhere else to go for medical help. Thank you Watford hospital. The department was busy with people pouring in with all kinds of injuries and ailments and sickness. I don’t know how you do it.

  8. Review titled Excellent care by professionals

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by John Godfrey - Posted on 30 March 2023

I have nothing but praise and admiration for the many caring staff (I saw over 50 different individuals) at A & E, on the AAU and Stroke ward (even though I did not have a stroke - just a bed was available there!), the ophthalmology dept, ultrasound dept and maxillofacial dept. All staff from cleaners, porters, catering staff, admin staff, care assistants, nurses, physios, specialists, doctors and consultants were very professional, caring, informative, friendly and thoughtful, making my two week stay in hospital as pleasant as could be under the circumstances.

  9. Review titled Great experience at children's A&E - thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Jean-Baptiste Rancon - Posted on 27 February 2023

My son dislocated his shoulder playing rugby close to Watford. My wife advised he was likely to be brought into Watford General Hospital but that she had seen poor reviews for this hospital and that I should therefore do whatever it took to get my son back into a Central London hospital instead. However, by the time I got to him, my son was being checked into the A&E Department at Watford General Hospital - in an inordinate amount of pain. He saw a nurse in less than 15 minutes, who triaged him appropriately. What followed was a very efficient and timely process, with multiple rounds through doctor, anesthetist and X-ray. We were given a very clean room and the anesthetics were both available quickly and powerful enough (although there appeared to be strict controls of how they were being made available, by whom and how). Every professional we touched clearly knew their stuff and were also very nice despite the hospital being evidently very busy. Overall, the place gave me an impression of a slick, well- resourced, heavily kitted operation - not unlike a modern, efficient manufacturing site. Thank you to all involved for the superb job and all the care - we are very grateful.

  10. Review titled Excellent, kindly care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 February 2023

Thank you to all the staff who treated my mother-in-law yesterday. We were both treated with respect, kindliness and professionalism.. we were regularly checked and all the tests place relatively quickly. It was necessary for us to be in the corridor, but considering all the news reports about overcrowding generally in hospital it could have been much worse. Good experiences don’t seem to make the news. Once again, thank you.
