  1. Review titled Great Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had an eye procedure at St Albans city hospital day care centre. The nursing team were amazing. After my operation I was given great care by all involved. The nurses when I was recovering after the anaesthetic and the team in the ward were amazing. Other hospitals should learn from this. Well done!

  3. Review titled Professional teaching hospital

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I walked into a&e on Saturday 18th November having had a fall from my horse. The pain was so bad I could not talk. They took me through to triage and I was seen by approximately 20 different people checking my lungs, bones, head and neck. I had an ultrasound and a ct. scan within 30minutes of arriving. By 10pm I was admitted to Cleves ward with a diagnosis of 5 broken ribs. The following day I saw the Thoracic team and the pain nurse. I was cared for by nurses and hca’s for 24hours over 5 days. I came home on 23rd November with pain meds and a care plan. All in all I would guess that over 30 people helped me. They all worked very hard over very long hours. (12 hour shifts). Massive thanks to all, especially the health care assistances and the ladies that brought me my meals and cups of tea. Their constant support and kind words needed a special mention. We need very clever doctors to fix the problems and mangers to pay the bills, but we must not forget how important compassion is when people are sad and low. Empathy goes a long way to help the healing process, as does taking the time to simply listen. Thank you Cleves ward. from Helen

Hello - following a serious RTC on the m1 yesterday, myself wife and son were taken to your a&e. I was in a lot of pain with chest and spine injury, but I need to express our treatment was absolutely first class . Your staff - nurses, doctors , consultants, radiography dept were all so friendly and helpful, and acted with a very high degree of professionalism at all times . We would like to express our gratitude and thank them all - a true credit to your hospital and the nhs. Best wishes Andy

  7. Review titled Amazing service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Following a call to 111 an ambulance was sent which arrived in half an hour. 3 paramedics asked me questions & did various tests. They were very kind & professional. As I was experiencing breathing problems they gave me oxygen & took me to A&E at Watford General Hospital. A chest X-ray revealed that I was suffering from pneumonia. I was very well looked after & allowed home later that evening with a link to the ‘virtual hospital’. This entailed sending my readings 4 times a day by text direct to the hospital. I had at least 1 call every day from a nurse and/or doctor checking on my progress. This was a brilliant service which allowed me to be at home rather than in hospital. I had a direct link to contact the staff at any time if I was worried. Blood tests were carried out to assess the infection and after 11 days I was discharged with follow up blood tests/chest X-ray to be carried out further down the line. I was very impressed with the whole experience & would recommend it if offered. A very big thank you to all the staff.

  8. Review titled Worst patient care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Katie - Posted on 05 October 2023

First I want to mention this is not my first experience with Watford paediatric team. Until now I was just prefer to move on but now I’ve decided to let you know that is the time for change or provide further training for deliver NHS core values. During my long waiting bcs even is not busy they will tell you if didn’t pass the famous 3h and half don't have the right to ask. Well it seems this time frame help them to make patient quiet but let’s they was that much busy that a nurse came with a famous round tray like a delicate waiter and brought their sugary drinks( coffee &tea) in the clinical area. I was waiting patiently with my son 1 year-old baby sent by A&E doctor to paediatric department with respiratory concerns oxygen saturation 94 and a severe high pitch coughing, rib respiratory remission. After 3 h of waiting and with a child severely distress and no other babies around just two tens which came long after us I dare to sent my husband to ask if there is any hope in getting the busy team to check us. They start saying that we been sent wrong by 111 and need to wait an A&E doctor not a paediatrician. I need to mention that first my child been attend by Watford A&E doctor and been sent to paediatric department. Anyway to make it short my feedback is not about long waiting is about patient care and experience. Please bring NHS core values to Watford paediatric team.

  9. Review titled Fantastic Team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Giovanna - Posted on 12 December 2023

My brother passed away in October, and the Intensive Care Team were nothing short of amazing. The care they showed my brother in the last days of his life was professional and considerate at every stage. The care and compassion they showed me at what was one of the hardest moments of my life cannot be underestimated. Thank you to the intensive care nurse that spent the entirety of her shift with my brother, to the two lovely trauma nurses that literally held my hand as we discussed my brothers end of life care! You were all so kind. I'm sorry i cannot remember the individual team members names but i want to say Thank You from the bottom of my heart. You were and are amazing.
