Review titled Great service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Valerie wicks - Posted on 14 October 2024
My 92 year old mother attending the special dental service this morning at uckfield hospital. Her appointment was 10 am 14 th Oct. She has some physical difficulties. The receptionist was welcoming, considerate and kept us informed. The dentist was amazing. Treating mum and myself with respect, made sure she was comfortable, communicated in a way that she could hear and understand. Gave us advice, and treatment relevant and in keeping with what mum would be able to manage. We felt very confident with her and the dentsl assistant professional and caring approach. Mum was treated with dignity, respect, we were listened to and given appropriate advice and treatment. It is not an easy task to take a elderly person with lots of limitations to the dentist but the experience was made easy by the staff. A huge thank you to all or the dental team.

Review titled Staff in Minor Injuries Unit are rude and abrupt
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I visited the unit to find out whether I broke and dislocated toe which was confirmed after x-ray. The nurse bound my toes and she gave me alot of gauze but just enough bandaging for one time so I had to return to get some more a few days later. If they had given me enough bandages to begin with I wouldn't had had to hobble back there.. It was difficult for me to put the bandage on myself so I returned. I then had further trouble with my foot because it was tingling two weeks later and went through all the questions with 111 who I phoned for advice. The nurse who phoned me back said that I should again return to the unit in Uckfield which I did but then was turned away. I was told by the rude women in the Minor Injuries Unit in the reception area, she could not help me anymore because they had given me enough dressings and that was it. I was dismissed in a rude manner by someone in the NHS that should be at the very least empathetic. What kind of duty of care does this hospital give people? I only followed the advice of the nurse from 111 and instead met with a rude and curt reply. I was not treated like a patient but a nuisance. This has never happened to me and I hope it never does again. Is the NHS saving money on giving patients enough dressings to last a week if they are not mobile, and are they dismissing patients if they are not injured enough to be treated there? I hope I never have an experience like this again. If I was advised by a nurse to go back, then I will go back, but not there.

Review titled Minor injuries unit door
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Aidan Paul - Posted on 25 September 2023
Minor injuries unit door was locked, with no sign of anyone inside. We arrived at 8 and waited until 8.30, before we walked around and asked a member of staff when it would open. They suggested trying the bell, which we couldn’t see. It was just a white switch, with no label saying it was a doorbell. Someone answered as soon as we rung the bell and service was fine and staff friendly from that point on. When waiting, another patient struggled to get through the door (still locked) so I had to go open it for him. Door was then put on latch by a member of staff, so was open 45mins after supposed open time of 8am. I would suggest a clear label/directions to the bell, and ensuring the latch is unlocked at 8am. Luckily our issue wasn’t too serious, but can imagine this situation being quite stressful for someone with a more serious injury/ailment.
