I have recently spent 8 days recovering from surgery on the at the Chelsea Royal Marsden and would like to thank with all my heart all the staff for there love and affection they gave and for looking after me in this difficult time. I would also like to thank with all my heart the Head and neck team and the surgery team lead by Professor Surgeon who for years now has given his life and his time to saving lives as I talk from first hand experience in my long fight with cancer. And not to forget Professor and his team of caring doctors / surgeons who has carried out 2 difficult operations on me and im sure 100s of other persons . I thank you kind and loving people with all my heart and to the Royal Marsden Chelsea for making this possible.

  2. Review titled Management of Sunday ward attender list

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anthony Stanley - Posted on 09 July 2024

On Sunday 7 June, I needed to attend the Markus ward for a pump disconnect. I had an appointment for 1530. I went to the Royal Marsden Chelsea reception at 1500. The receptionist was very helpful and phoned up to the ward to register my arrival. I was told there were two people before me on the wait list to be seen. Unfortunately I ended up waiting for 90 mins to be seen. The receptionist phoned on several times and was informed that other patients had gone up to the ward directly and in effect “jumped the queue”. The single nurse on the ward was not able to manage the wait list in this way. It would be helpful for the ward to review how it manages its wait list or its staffing levels on Sundays to avoid such avoidable delays.

  3. Review titled Incredible hospital with incredible people

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The Royal Marsden has allowed me to live my life feeling more hopeful for the future, following major abdominal surgery. I was referred following an orchidectomy & 9 weeks of chemotherapy for a metastatic germ cell tumour. This was in consideration of a laparotomy retroperitoneal block lymph node dissection. I am beyond grateful for the incredible surgeons, nursing teams, doctors, HCAs and all staff that make it a place where lives are enhanced

All staff I interacted with were excellent from the students to the radiographers - they were a credit to the hospital.

  5. Review titled Referral made but no appointment given

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Colin Muir McQueen SCOTT - Posted on 16 May 2024

On 29 Feb 2024 I received a letter telling me to arrange an appt at the Adult Allergy Clinic at the Royal Brompton in London. Booking ref 0004 2558 6073. I live in Northamptonshire so London is not a great place to get to but I went ahead to to arrange it. But when I tried to make it there were no appts available! So I dutifully filled in the blank page you asked me to fill in so you could contact me - mobile contact no 07903-453242 - and waited for a call or mail to tell me when it might be. I was very patient but in early May I called my GP to find out what was going on since I'd had no reply from hyou and they told me the referral had been refused! No contact attempt was made to tell me this and the GP's Secretarty says she keeps calling to try to contact you but no-one replies or picks up the phone. I'm unhappy about the experience I've had to date. How long does a short mail or call take to update me? I'm unhappy that I was left in the dark when I'd followed your procedure to the letter and was waited patiently for a reply that apparently was never going to come.
