  1. Review titled Terrible if you need urgent treatment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Des - Posted on 02 May 2024

Terrible treatment recieved by Sunderland Royal hospital today. I needed urgent help. I went to the A&E due to severe arm pain on the verge of passing out. I had jaw pain and pins and needles in the other arm. I was transferred to urgent medical care where I waited 3 hrs and when finally seen, was seen by a nurse who didn't examine me, didn't take blood pressure. Gave me a prescription for codeine and said I would have to see a gp. When I complained that my pain was severe and I wouldn't be able to get home she reluctantly gave me two codeine tablets. When I complained that I wasn't happy with my treatment. She got a colleague to support her and he told me A&E wouldn't help me and I would be discharge if I went back in. When I left the A&E, I almost passed out with pain and barely got home on the bus. I am utterly disgusted with my treatment from the nhs, I wasn't even examined.I still have severe arm pain and the codeine is having no effect. Disgusting service and I expect better

  2. Review titled Urology

Rated 1 star out of 5

Always had good service here until today I can’t mention the dr as the review won’t be published otherwise, very rude dr did not listen at all. Thinks he knows everything as he’s done his studies maybe needs to work alongside the senior drs that are at the urology much more care and attention with them. seems like he was straight out of medical school did not make any sense, kept diverting away from question on hand, gave me 5 mins of his time then said he needs to get on with his clinic, when I was still asking questions that worried me, Not good from patient point of view, waited months for the appointment as well, to be discharged and fobbed off that it’s back pain affecting the area. Additional Training required, and a people skills course would be recommended

Had a short stay on ward e55 earlier this month. Amazing staff who really do a fantastic job, so hard working for their patients. I really appreciate everything that has been done for me. Keep up the great work everyone, you're doing the nation proud!

  6. Review titled Very Impressed

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently have just had a full knee replacement, Firstly the anaesthesiologist team were very professional , i had a laugh and a joke with them but all the time they were informative and friendly. After the surgery i went on the ward .I was on d48 and all the staff were friendly and again informative. Some of the staff liked a joke with me as i do all the time . Food was sometime very delicious and at worst nice. All in all i was impressed with the staff and obviously all were very professional Thanks for making my very painful stay a positive one Regards Daren Borthwick

  8. Review titled Waiting times are unfair

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jagan Babu - Posted on 03 February 2024

We have waited for 4 hours and only 6 people were treated during our waiting time. The bloods were taken from me , the results didn’t come for 4 hours and out of frustration I went back home. This is not how the emergency department should work. Literally 6 people were treated and there were 30 more people with all sorts of emergency waiting to be treated.

  9. Review titled Poor service

Went to Sunderland hospital as my face has swollen including my eye, I was seen by a dentist before it swelled more and advised to attend a&e if it got worse. Attended Sunderland a&e and was told to ring 111 before I could finish explaining what I had been advised, she did not want to help or listen and felt dismissed by the severity of the swelling, went to gateshead a&e and was seen. Would not recommend Sunderland hospital as they do not care to care for their patients

  10. Review titled Slow and poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Lee - Posted on 22 January 2024

NHS funded a taxi to take me to A&E due to severe back pain and unable to drive. Upon arrival I was sent to urgent care and had to wait over 5 hours (sitting among sick coughing and sneezing patients) to see the triage nurse who eventually told me to go home and take regular off the shelf pain relief. Many people came to urgent care after me and saw the triage nurse within 30 minutes and then the doctor and left well before me. I witnessed so many people arrive and leave whilst I was sat with severe back pain. No priority was put on the pain I experienced and the triage nurse showed no empathy whatsoever. I also contracted a viral infection during my visit by having to sit next to sick patients for 5+ hours.
