Review titled Very good
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Richard - Posted on 22 May 2024
Had constant nose bleeds, A & E a few times, then referred to ENT they couldn't of been more helpful and thorough. Nothing was too much trouble, and they didn't rush me, gave me as much care and time as I needed. I can't speak highly enough.

Review titled Over 5 months waiting due to internal problems
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Venancio Calero - Posted on 18 January 2024
I got an appointment with the dermathologist for a possible and very concerning skin dissease, waited for 3 months for my appointment (back in November 2023) and when I got there on the day of the appointment, it turned that they cancelled it (because of an internal coordination problem inside the company) without letting me know. I went there and find out once at the hospital. Then, this appointment which was meant to be on the 17th November got re-scheduled for the 18th January 2024 (despite that it was their mistake, not mine). Today, it is 18th January and, just this morning, got a phone call from them saying that they need to re-schedule the appointment again because of "unavailability" of the doctor. The, they earliest date they are giving me is 29th February 2024. This is a 3 months and a half delay of the initial date they scheduled for this appointment (I think it would have been better to go initially to the NHS and cheaper) and I still wonder whether they will re-schedule and delay it over and over again. Note that since the referral from the GP, it will have lapsed 5 months and a half by the time I visit the dermathologist. Overall, it was a big mistake to choose this hospital for such an important and concerning health problem. Hopefully they will make it on the 29th, but I am never coming back to this hospital. There are better organized and more efficient ones that I should have got to in the first instance. In the meanwhile, I am here waiting totally stressed and desperate for somebody to spend 10 minutes of their time to look at my skin...

Thank you for your review. As per previous, the first cancellation and rebook we had for you, was at your request after you contacted our call centre. Unfortunately, with full clinic lists we cannot simply push someone else later in the line, to slot a patient cancellation in, however, we always bring forward patient appointments whenever we can into cancellation spaces. The second occasion in January, unfortunately the consultant you were to see was ill, and therefore unable to see any patients not just that day but that week. This is unfortunately an unavoidable situation out of anybody’s control. Our team tried to work with you to get you the next suitable date. You declined to see any other consultant on the team here at the St Edmunds hospital. Had you accepted another appointment with another consultant you would have been in to see us pre-Christmas, especially with concerns about a potential “skin disease” and “such an important and concerning health problem”. If you would like to see another consultant, and there are any free clinic spaces available, we will be happy to bring your appointment forward. Please contact our bookings team and they will be able to advise on any current availability of all our consultants under that particular speciality. Kind Regards Jo Colman-Bown

Review titled Feeling frustrated
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Arrived at hospital at 12.15 for minor surgery for carpal tunnel, After being shown my room and being assessed I’ve been left to wait for over 5hrs with no communication from ward nurses or even asked if I would like a drink. After my partner seeks out a nurse I was then told that my operation will be between 5 and 6 o’clock, not the answer I was expecting to get from private health care. This has left with no confidence in the st edmunds hospital, there seems to be little or no time structure for the day ahead as all patients are admitted at 12.15, People with medical conditions are prioritised first leaving people with no medical history to the bottom of the list, This whole experience has heightened my anxiety leaving me feeling that I can not trust health care whether, private or nhs. The main reason for me going private was because I thought ild get a better experience this is clearly not the case.

I am sorry to hear that you experienced delays while awaiting surgery which I understand can be frustrating. Whilst we do all we can to ensure that appointments run on time, this is not always possible as both the hospital and consultants' priority is to ensure patients receive appropriate treatment which, at times can take longer than expected. We have discussed your concerns with the team on the ward and the surgeon and have recommended that where clinically possible we ensure the local anaesthetic procedures are scheduled first. Kind Regards The St Edmunds Hospital Team
