Review titled NHS patients with complex conditions steer clear.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 13 August 2024
Nhs patients with complex medical conditions needing surgery should to be aware of possible discharge to their GP. There is a clear bias between private and NHS patients. They don’t have an Icu here, so if (for example,) there’s a chance you could have a seizure they will refuse to preform needed surgery. You will be sent back to your Gp, and have to go through everything all over again. I waited seven months after being booked in for surgery - I was on a three month wait list. My original consultant left and I wasn’t informed for four months and only found out because I rang to chase my surgery as it had been over the waiting time. I’ve had all of my pre-op appointments, and I found out two days before my surgery that it was cancelled and that I’ve been discharged. If you have complex medical needs, please go to an Nhs hospital, where they actually have the facilities to accommodate you. Spire are unable to transfer Nhs patients to another local hospital with the facilities needed. I’m distraught. It took me five years to get my Gp to listen and refer me, and now I’m back at square one.

Review titled Wouldn't wish going here on anyone
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 May 2024
Never go here ever!! Everytime I tried to start talking about a problem that happened to me, the doctor would cut me off and start going on about how it wasn't that serious (when they didn't even let me talk about the serious things that have happened) and I tried to talk about it many times and over and over again I would get cut off before I could tell the full story of very traumatic medical instances, so I spent hundreds to be ignored and dismissed and never got the chance talk about the reasons I actually came. And when I was in tears from being dismissed every time I tried to start talking about very serious medical problems that I wasn't even being given the chance to say, I would look up and see them smirking at my struggle while i tried to talk about the worst moments of my life. No empathy or understanding of how to treat patients at all, avoid!!!!!

I recently had a Cataract operation at Little Aston Spire Hospital , I was naturally worried about the Operation, but the professional and caring staff in the eye clinic made the whole procedure so much better than I had anticipated. Special thanks to the Discharge nurse.

Review titled Excellent physio aftercare received for knee replacement
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Let62 - Posted on 21 March 2024
Following my knee replacement I attended the knee clinic in the physio department for four weeks post op. It was invaluable to my recovery. Each week with a small group of other patients we went into the gym and faced a circuit of timed exercises . As I completed each task I was given individualise advice based on my ability and range of movement. Each task was explained clearly so I understood the benefit of the exercise. The two observing physios gave feedback and individualised each activity to make it more challenging if required. The positive feedback meant I knew I had completed the task correctly. This gave me the confidence to do some of them at home. My progress was really enhanced by attending these sessions. I would recommend the sessions to anyone who is offered a place to get this expert guidance and feedback. The team are friendly and welcoming, you can share progress, helpful tips and they stretch and challenge where needed too, so you realise you can do more than you think you are capable of! Thank you to the team who helped me during this recovery period. I am very grateful and 7 weeks on I am so pleased to have made such progress .

Review titled Poor Service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 23 January 2024
I arranged an appointment, self funding, as I’m on very long list with NHS for an urgent ENT referral. I provided all relevant information requested of me. On attending appointment the Consultant had not got my records from my GP/hospital previously had investigations at, no reception on phone (due to location) so couldn’t bring up my results myself to show Consultant. A very quick 20 minutes later I came out non the wiser but have been billed the full hours charge for no advice/help. What a waste of time and money. Not recommended!

Review titled First Class Treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by MJW - Posted on 14 August 2023
Having been advised the waiting time for a partial knee replacement via the NHS was in excess of 12months I opted to go private, and self fund. . I had a consultation with the chosen consultant in February 2023, and had the operation in Little Aston in July, From the time of admittance I was welcomed by the staff and treated professionally. Having met both the surgeon and anaesthetist, prior to the operation, to explain exactly what was going to happen, the treatment proceeded as planned. The operation went well and with the excellent care provided by the Nursing staff, I was in the hospital for just over 36 hours, before being discharged. Throughout I was given first class treatment, both pre and post operative, which included a programme of physiotherapy exercise to support recovery, in an all inclusive package. Whilst knee surgery is far from a painless procedures, the alternative of living with the daily pain of a defective knee, for those that can afford to do it, surgery at Little Aston is well worth considering.
