Review titled Amazing Staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Joshua - Posted on 12 October 2024
I went in for a wisdom tooth removal ,as soon as I got there I was given a room to myself which I was very happy about, bring a book or have your phone charged as you can expect to wait a while but this is normal. The staff there are brilliant, everyone was kind and polite and very clear with all the instructions and processes. Really made me feel comfortable. They kept checking up on me afterwards as I had general anaesthetic, I always felt I was in safe hands. Wonderful team and a comfortable experience.

Review titled Respect

I just want to say thank you to all the nurses and staff at the A&E department. They looked after my 89 year old mum brilliantly. They treated her with respect and dignity, and looked after all of her needs. When visiting hospital patients can feel vulnerable and it makes all the difference when you feel that you are being listened to. Thank you all so much.

Review titled Mixed Service

A&E was extremely busy but i was seen in a relatively short time by an extremely helpful Nurse Practitioner, x-ray was efficient and I was on my with a sling and some information on exercises. I was instructed I'd be contacted for a scan within a week and left it at that. Chasing the scan appointment I was passed to various departments, to receptionists of varying friendliness, to be told it would be closer to 6 weeks. Apparently my specialist (someone who haven't heard of , or communicated with in anyway) has okayed this. Why isn't the patient involved or informed at any point during this process. So now I cant work or even drive for at least 6 weeks, still in limbo, unless I do the chasing.

Review titled Wonderful, caring treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Hilary Snowden - Posted on 18 September 2024
I visited Scarborough General Hospital this week at their Accident & Emergency department. From arrival to discharge my care was outstanding. I was transferred almost immediately to their Urgent Care Unit where I spent the day. Each and every staff member who I saw or even just spoke to briefly, was friendly, warm and so caring. I was listened to and treated with respect and compassion. I couldn’t fault my experience at all. Well done all staff - you are wonderful, and thank you, everyone. x

Review titled Movers and Shakers
Rated 4 stars out of 5

I attended A and E Thursday 8th August at around 6am. I had had a piece of steak stuck in my throat for 2 days. Due to this, I had been unable to eat or drink anything. I arrived feeling thirsty, hungry and confused and anxious. It took me a while to get seen by a doctor, but then things started to happen. I was given a drip to relax my muscles then a drip to rehydrate me. Following this I felt that the blockage was still there and one lovely doctor and her team arranged for me to have an upper endoscopy there and then. I was amazed that they could fit me in so quickly. However, it was against the clock as I had now gone two days without water. The endoscopy team were equally efficient and quickly after the procedure, declared the blockage had gone. The lovely doctor told me later that they had found some damage caused by my wrenching whilst trying to remove the steak by making myself sick the day before. Thank you very much to all concerned.

Review titled Absaloutly shocking

My dad was sent to scarborough a and e with rectal bleeding after a colonoscopy and left after 9 hours without being seen by a doctor . My dad has had to come back to a and e today with tracking up his arm from a bite that he was told needed immediate intravenous antibiotics by minor injuries and is still waiting to be seen 6 hours later , whilst still under the care of oncology . It’s a joke it needs sorting and he needs help. Over all it’s ridiculous and needs sorting because it’s not the first time and definitely won’t be the last so just sort it .

I just want to say a huge heartfelt thank you to the staff in A&E at Scarborough Hospital. In particular my nominated nurse who went well beyond the call of duty to look after me and make me comfortable after my accident. I've worked in Social Care all my life and to see a team working with such professionalism, care, expertise and empathy was just wonderful. This was a true example of how things should be done. I hope your all appreciate for your hard work and dedication and want to thank you all for taking such good care of me.
