  1. Review titled Great medical care, poor communication

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Ann Cakebread - Posted on 01 December 2023

Arrived by ambulance (called by 111 responder) about 1am to A&E on Friday 17th November. Admitted to AMU. Very weak, retching. Diagnosed viral infection diarrhoea, unable to urinate. Blood sample results poor. Transferred to Durrington Ward in single room. Brilliant nurses busy saving lives in main ward unable to respond promptly to my help button. Disgusting diarrhoea left in tray several hours. Catheter prevented keeping myself and bedsheets clean. Humiliating. On third day a bowl of water and towel was provided for me to wash myself, but I was too weak to do it properly. On Tuesday 21st the morning Doctor told me she would get catheter removed and I could go home. Repeatedly, over most of the day, asked nurses to remove catheter but no response to my messages. Finally a nurse explained they couldn't do it without Doctor's authorisation and I told him what Doctor had said, whereupon her instruction was found in my notes. All staff extremely apologetic, and I stress that their sheer over-busyness means they cannot be blamed. An urgently pre-booked gastroscopy to check Barrett's oesophagitis was cancelled by Endoscopy. I was given the impression that this was because I was now an inpatient - causing administrative difficulties between departments - and not told it was because Endoscopy wanted me in good health and able to cope with any "minor nicks". I am grateful for the thorough blood-testing and complicated medication which has enabled me to continue recovering my strength at home. However, I do wonder whether better means of communication could be found, between doctors, nurses, other departments and patients.

i had a deep cut in hand . And from going in to the hospital i could not fault the hospital staff and the way they treated me . they were very talkative to let me know what was going to happen. And also after operation they kept in contact. So what i would like to say is thank you to all the staff who looked after me .

  4. Review titled Great staff and seen quickly

Visited with my son for mental health support. The waiting room was clean and comfortable. The staff were great and helpful and we were seen within 45 minutes for triage and half an hour after that by a mental health worker.

  6. Review titled Always professional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Brilliant hospital A&E was great, we had to wait a little, but not overly long. My husband was dealt with swiftly and with complete professionalism. The new lay out inside was well thought out and we could get a drink etc, and even charge our phone. The staff were all lovely, the areas were spotlessly clean. Well done Salisbury and thank you!

  8. Review titled Gynae Outpatients experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 September 2023

I attended gynae outpatients for a colposcopy today. Apart from finding it difficult to locate the department due to poor signage, once I found it, the staff in the department were excellent. The colposcopy nurse immediately put me at ease with a friendly introduction and explanation of what was going to happen. The consultant was also friendly and clearly explained the procedure and possible outcomes beforehand. Both members of the team were respectful of my dignity and were reassuring throughout the process, talking to me and checking that I was ok. All in all, I feel that the members of the team that I saw were friendly, professional and genuinely caring. Thank you.

  9. Review titled Friendly and professional care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 August 2023

Just to thank the team - professional yet everyone was so approachable and friendly whilst waiting and kind and caring around the the operation. Waiting for the operation and having it is not something to look forward to - however I can't fault the service. I liked the way everyone was treated according to their needs and time was taken to discuss or listen to questions or queries. Plus the cup of tea was very good afterwards. Thank you very much indeed.

  10. Review titled Appalling service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 August 2023

Very severe bed side manner lacking. And extremely make you feel uncomfortable. Won’t be attending this hospital again. As I been continuously ignore and been very upset by the manner of the nurse in A&E assessment. Who was very rude towards me and didn’t hsve any caring towards my condition and the pain i was in. Which made me want to go to another hospital.
