  1. Review titled Prompt service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I took my daughter to urgent care and was seen and left within fifteen minutes ,the doctor that saw her was at the end of a night shift ,yet was polite and caring and explained his examination and outcome in a clear and precise manner .We left with a prescription which he explained and peace of mind that her condition would improve with medication and that we had done the right thing attending.

  3. Review titled Couldn't hear name's being called

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 April 2023

If you could improve on the calling out of names in the A and E dept as this was poor. Us and people around us were all struggling to hear the names being called out . There was only one practitioner that was loud and clear enough to hear on the day . We were relying on the sound being made. Some practitioners were wearing masks that made it more difficult and would also continue to try and call people over the monitor announcements which were going off every so often which made it nigh on impossible to hear correctly. There was no differentiation for people who found this difficult.

  4. Review titled A&E department in very poor state.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Richard Hobbs - Posted on 22 March 2023

I visited the A&E department recently and was there for 9 hours with head injury. I feel there is much more that could be done here and don’t normally complain but feel this needs to be looked at. Firstly I feel the size of the seating area is just not adequate and people with injuries and sickness in some cases had no space to sit or even stand. This isn’t a big area and in my opinion needs to be expanded urgently for the amount of people that visit. I was also shocked to see that there wasn’t any windows that could be opened. It was very stuffy in there and I feel the windows should remain open to keep it cool and ventilated. There are lots of people in a close space and this isn’t good for spreading germs with no fresh air. The TV screens in there are not updated or even on in some cases which again when waiting for hours isn’t ideal. I appreciate the department is under pressure but feel these things could be improved quite simply. The wait time again isn’t acceptable.. as an emergency there is no way you should be waiting 9 hours. 111 sends most people here and needs to be reviewed. More staff should be put into this area to improve waiting times and organisation. My next issue is I feel that when you are being called it’s not very loud or clear. Sometimes people are speaking with masks on and older people miss there name being called which again delays time. I think a sign on the wall should be used and a loud speaker system when calling for patients. This area needs serious attention in my opinion and I hope my feedback can be used to improve this department and peoples experience. I wouldn’t advise going here if I am honest as you won’t be seen for hours. I also think there needs to be more toilets and cleaning stations available as again germs in this area could spread quickly. I don’t like complaining but I feel this is something that needs to be looked at for peoples health and safety. I am a young person and found this experience very stressful and this shouldn’t be the case when you are not well. To make it worse I then had to pay for parking on exit. Again not a great feeling when overall service wasn’t great.

My mum passed away last week in the critical care unit. All the staff on the unit were extremely caring, compassionate and could not have done more for her or us at this time. I have to say that they were all amazing. Thankyou so much for making such a difficult time slightly easier.

  8. Review titled Excellent care and amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alice - Posted on 24 February 2023

I am extremely grateful for the care that I received during my pregnancy, c-section and recovery after the birth of my daughter. I was very nervous and scared about going into hospital after having a few complications during my pregnancy but every single member of staff on the maternity ward and neonatal team that cared for us was very professional and very caring and I was very well looked after throughout the four days that I stayed in for. I also want to say a big thank you to the lady that held my hand and reassured me during my c-section when my baby was taken straight down to neonatal and I was by myself in theatre when my partner went to the ward with her. She even came back the day after to check that I was OK.

by Megan - Posted on 23 June 2023

Hi , I just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff at the fracture clinic at Russels Hall who looked after me from February - April when I was a outpatient and fractured my fibula . It was a bit of a draining time for me from when I thought I would need an operation to being out of the sport I love for a while , but you all made the process so much easier and bearable, from the nurses to the clinicians and registrars - you are all amazing !! I've just been discharged from my physiotherapy as well and will hopefully be back to playing rugby in September :) - thank you

  10. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Linda Murphy - Posted on 11 February 2023

My husband was referred to A and E by 111 concerning possible harm from an accidental overdose of prescribed medication. We arrived to a busy department but were dealt with quickly by professional and polite staff. We were out and on our way home after 40 minutes, reassured that there were no ill effects. I expected to be there for hours. So thanks to all the staff concerned. And solidarity with your pay campaign. You deserve a proper pay rise.
