  1. Review titled Poor care by your triage nurse

    by Marhj36 - Posted on 01 November 2022

I went in with a bad open cut after banging my head in the garage I work at. Being on blood thinners I thought I should go to A&E and get the wound closed up. The lady on reception booked me in fine then I went in to see the triage nurse who didn’t even look at the wound. When I asked them to they said that’s not a priority which I found strange as they couldn’t see it - it was in my hairline. They said nothing about scanning my head. After a total of 10 hours waiting after two separate visits and feeling unwell I left with a 4 inch open cut which wasn’t even looked at. Some staff on reception were so nice but one I found very rude. That is the last time I will go to hospital unless I’m on a stretcher. I know they are busy but to force me home after me feeling unwell with a bad headache and sickness seems wrong and I feel it should be looked into. The triage nurse said nothing to me about any scan so now I’m home with an open cut headache and on blood thinners.

  2. Review titled Preston neurology

    by horologiumpr75 - Posted on 20 October 2022

My son had a telephone appointment regarding his seizures. The neurologist was the most rude, disinterested, judgmental consultant. My son is so upset at how he was dismissed regarding the seizures. The consultant sighed every time we asked a question. I am absolutely disgusted that people like that can work in a hospital where people just want some help, answers and advice.

  3. Review titled Discharge Service

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 October 2022

Preston Royal Hospital Discharge Process -There is no explanation from the ward when they move you to discharge lounge, you can be there 5 hours or more, if your in pain your sat in a chair not good if you have back pain. Like myself who had a lumbar puncture. Your family or person who has come to pick you up are not able to wait in discharge lounge, so best not to tell your family to pick you up, if your from another town like myself it’s difficult as no time given to arrange pick up. Not a very good service when you have not been well and want to get home.

  5. Review titled Non response

Rated 1 star out of 5

After trying for 2 days to amend an appointment I gave up. The department line was constantly engaged. The auto-attendant on the main number was useless. It's no wonder there are so many failed appointments when they make it so difficult to contact them. A simple email address that someone could respond to would be so simple. Although I knew it was Xray I couldn't leave a comment on Xray as it wasnt an option so had to select dont know.

  6. Review titled Fantastic team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have accompanied my mother for three appointments with the Neurosurgery team in Preston. Without exception, every member of the team has been fantastic. They are all polite, provide clear explanations and have a good sense of humour when it was appropriate for the situation. Thank you for looking after my mother through a difficult time which really helped put her at ease.

Today I had an appointment at Royal Preston Hospital ENT department. There was prompt booking in procedure and only a very short wait to be seen. All the staff were extremely professional and friendly. The consultation and investigations I received were reassuring, thorough and professionally carried out. I would recommend this department without hesitation.

  8. Review titled High quality service and care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rachel Parkinson - Posted on 06 November 2022

I have had surgery on both eyes this year. The standard of care that I have been fortunate to receive has been exceptional. The team who work at Lancashire Eye Centre are dedicated and hard working. The HCA's are thorough in their work and the nursing staff are friendly and patient centred in their work. I felt at ease throughout my numerous appointments and on the admissions when surgery took place. The clinicians I have been in contact with have been professional, knowledgeable and willing to answer my many questions. I appreciate the quality of care that I have had and I am grateful for the care that I continue to receive at Lancashire Eye Centre.

  9. Review titled Hospital needs overhaul

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Deb - Posted on 17 October 2022

My mother having recently had admission to Cardiology and Ward 18. The staff were incredible and worked so hard. The ward however was very cold with no heating at all. Draughts were coming through the windows and relatives were having to take in extra blankets for the patients in the bay and extra clothing. This is unacceptable in any ward of the hospital but this is heart patients who are already vulnerable. This was reported many times to staff who reported through to maintainence but nothing was recitified. Patients were left all day without hot drinks and relying on visitors taking hot drinks to the ward from the cafeteria. After being discharged, had to attend A&E, a few weeks later. This was the worst experience ever. Waiting room overcrowded, waiting times to be seen by a doctor exceeded over 8 hours and patients left in a cold dirty waiting room for hours on end with no heating on. The nursing staff were over stretched and over worked and unable to cope with the demand, which isnt there fault. Senior management at this hospital need to take a good look at whats happening and put into practice, procedures for the safety and care of the patients and staff as well. Care Quality Commission has rated this hospital as needing improvements. This needs to be adhered to as soon as possible, as their are many failings at this hospital
