  1. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was admitted for a day case procedure. The staff at all levels were kind, caring and professional and made me feel so well looked after. I was so grateful. I later found out the ward was very short staffed but I wouldn't have known in terms of the care I received. They are working under such tremendous pressure everyday, but still turn up to work and do their utmost to maintain standards. It's a shame the government have allowed the NHS to become so chronically underfunded and stretched, and seemingly do not value this great service we have.

I had a complete knee replacement at the end of march 2024. whilst I was afraid I didn't need to be. I was talked through the procedure step by step, which was a great comfort, as it is daunting. I felt I was in safe, capable, professional hands at all times I was in overnight, all staff were excellent, helpful, informative &caring even the food was good. I would like to thank everyone who was involved with my care!

my gp referred me to ent in september 2023 the waiting time is 14 weeks and my waiting time is beyond that I spent days at different times trying to get through to switch board, eventually got through and was put through to ent only to receive an automated message saying that no agent is available,it’s very disappointing and frustrating.

Arrived at 02 day ward for review and left standing at nurses station while they finished gossiping. Not told anything waited 2 hours then asked if I was seeing a doctor or someone? Vague response!! Left in waiting room again!!

  6. Review titled Wonderfully caring people.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I needed urgent care and it was there. Not only that but it was delivered in such a caring way. It was not a comfortable experience - but it was so thoughtfully provided. I particularly want to thank the nursing staff who were not only knowledgeable but also caring to my needs. Thank you to the NHS and all those who pay their taxes.

  8. Review titled Parking a no-go. Inaccessible for disabled patients.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Andy - Posted on 29 February 2024

Horrendous experience this morning. I arrived over an hour before my appointment through ridiculous traffic around the hospital main roads only to find the multi-storey car park was full and coned off. Crawled in the traffic past the front of the hospital on the one way system to find all open air disabled spaces were full too. Nowhere to park within the vicinity of the hospital and couldn't easily do another whip round to see if anybody had left their parking space due to the absurd traffic around the general area. Therefore, I had no option but to cancel my appointment and drive home. I am a blue badge holder and drive from another town to get to Sheffield and cannot use public transport due to autism. Therefore, the car is my only sense of independence and giving me a sense of control over my life and the appalling car parking at the Hallamshire took that independence away from me. It also took away the chance of a medical appointment as I could not attend due to this. I won't be subjected to this again and will not ever go to this hospital again. This has also caused a delay in my treatment and healthcare which nobody in the N H S considers when they don't do their jobs properly. Whoever is in charge of parking / estates needs their P 45 today! On the positive side, the staff who I engaged with in the endocrinology department were amazingly helpful and supportive of my needs and I feel confident that I would have received the best care. I won't ever be going to this circus ever again after today's stressful debacle.

  9. Review titled Excellent efficient and speedy result.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a chest XRay on Wednesday morning and informed of the result by my medical centre the following morning. The XRay dept. was very efficient and friendly. The waiting area was clean and tidy. I was very satisfied and happy with the service.

  10. Review titled Great response after being hit by hospital car park barrier

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Green - Posted on 01 March 2024

Having been injured by the Hospital Car Park Barrier having come down on me unexpectedly knocking me to the ground & causing wounds to my head and ear, staff from the hospital and some nearby paramedics and a couple of the general public tended me on the ground where I'd fallen someone from the critical care unit accompanying me via a wheel chair to the CCU within a few minutes where I was given immediate treatment- to head wound and ear abrasion - before being taken by taxi to the A & E Dept. at the Northern General where I could be given a scan of my head - I being on Apixoban and other heart/blood related drugs. The response of the staff at Hallamshire were excellent. I have a scarf provided by a member of the public to help stop the bleeding when I was felled by the barrier but don't know who she was and would dearly like to give it back to her - all the blood now having been washed out of the very excelent and expensive scarf by my wife. I should also much like to thank the nurse who arranged for me to be taken to the CCU and made all arrangements to be quickky seen and then taken to A&E at the Northern General. Very impressive. En passant I think steps should be taken to try and ensure no-one else gets clobbered by the Car Park exit barrier - there is no separate footway for people exiting from the car park level I had parked on so there remains a danger that others could be hit in future when they walk under the barrier if it drops down as they pass unbeknown under it. Please do pass on my appreciation to any and all of the staff who helped me particulary she who master-minded things from when I was first felled to the ground by the errant barrier who also ensured that car park staff cancelled my car park ticket so I didn't have to pay for my car's overnight stay!
