  1. Review titled Good but could be better

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I came here to be induced with my pregnancy, I found that through the induction process I wasn’t very looked after I was left screaming in pain for 3 days straight as they was no midwife’s to deliver my baby, I felt as though they wasn’t listening to me about the pain I was in and just brushed it off , when I eventually got sent into delivery room the staff there was absolutely amazing couldn’t fault them at all I was very much looked after and my needs was met, the staff was brilliant and made me feel very calm and at ease and spoke to me about what was happening really good team was just a shame on the induction staff

Good afternoon- ID 37924 It was very kind of you to take the time to write to the hospital; I am pleased to hear that you had a positive experience and that you wish to express your grateful thanks to the staff in the delivery room during the birth of your baby. I am sorry that you were left without any midwives to care for you during the induction period and I will highlight this to the relevant manager to action as deemed appropriate. I will also forward your kind comments to the manager of the delivery suite to share with all the staff. Thank you again for taking the time to write into the hospital it is appreciated and I hope you and your new baby are doing well. Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)

  2. Review titled Excellent treatment and service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sarah Shuttleworth - Posted on 20 August 2023

We took my dad for an appointment with the renal consultant and then he had a follow up ultra scan booked. This was arranged almost immediately and even on the day if the scan, we were contacted to see if we wanted to go earlier as they had a cancellation. We did and the service was excellent. All the following during the 2 days were kind, patient, helpful and cheerful. This included the car park person in car park 3,receptionists in renal and xray dept, and nurses, ultra scan person and the renal consultant. Dad had to have his nephrostomy replaced after being in Burton and was blue lighted to Derby earlier which led to check ups described. The consultant rang my mum personally too to reassure her.Thank you.

  3. Review titled Utterly atrocious. Almost urged me to go private!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Andy - Posted on 16 August 2023

Referred to gastroenterology. After spending the next few months attempting in vain to get some information on an appointment date time and continual emails being ignored, I was told the waiting list was 50 weeks! Oddly enough, the average wait for the last few months on the N H S My Planned Care website has remained unaltered at 22 weeks. Which clearly is not accurate. I was given the usual guff as to why I had to wait 50 weeks for an appointment and almost encouraged to go private! Why should taxpayers who are already paying pay again? Even if they could afford it, it is morally wrong. This hospital is unfit for purpose, like most of the health service.

  4. Review titled Very Good Ward (202)

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Richy63 - Posted on 26 July 2023

I had to stay on ward 202 for a couple of days. The staff were very attentive and caring. This was everyone from the smiling ward receptionist to house keepers and the nursing staff. The food was quite good (ice cream included). A positive experience.

  5. Review titled Rubbish Pharmacy

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 July 2023

Attended acute eye dept 19th July was told by doctor my prescription would be ready by the time I had walked there. Well it was utter chaos and a 50 minute wait. Attended the same clinic yesterday and was given two sorts of eye drops. Left it until today 24 hours later but when my wife called in for them they said 'Oh it's not ready yet come back in about half an hour' What a disgraceful service. The staff don't seem bothered that patients are suffering long waiting times to obtain their medicines. They need a real shake up and some other pharmacy competition to give them some incentive to provide an adequate pharmacy dispensing service. Everyone queueing was moaning about the waiting times. I had to wait over 24 hours for medication for a very sore eye condition. Why are patients not allowed to take their prescriptions to a pharmacy of their choice? The hospital has great doctors, nurses and consultants but what shame it is let down by this woefully inadequate pharmacy dispensing service.

  7. Review titled Thank you

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by David Grant - Posted on 11 October 2023

My overall experience re my visit for a Colonscopy at Derby Royal, was beyond words and amazing. "All" the staff were friendly, un rushed, extremely professional and nothing was too much trouble from the receptionist up to, and including The Consultant, whom was top notch. Everything was explained in a manner that I fully understood, and I was re assured all the way. I would like to single out one person whom personified all this, The Screening Nurse Practioner, whom I cant name for reasons of stated in the T and C's. From the first phone contact, the preparation, to the actual procedure and aftercare, as I said to ** myself, she is a credit to herself and her profession. She made, what is a problematic procedure by it's very nature, doable for me. I cannot speak highly enough of **'s caring professionalism. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for **, from what was say seemingly wee questions from myself to the actual procedure, explanations, re assurance, suggestions, the list goes on. I would like you to make ** aware of these comments and her colleagues. If you have any form in house Staff Recognition Scheme, ** should be a least nominated as I really don't think she fully realizes what kind of person & inate caring professional she is. I know from watching, that it wasn't just a case of the way she handled myself yet other patients too, whilst I was there. This from a distance seems like heaping praise on one person yet the every member of staff in that department wasn't too far behind **. All I can say is a massive thank you to ** and all the staff whom looked after me during my procedure. If you have any enquiries re the above, you wish to ask me, please do not hesitate to contact me. The NHS is often un fairly critizised these days, unfairly imho, therefore, it is all the more important, to praise it in stand out cases like this. Thank you. Kindest Regards, Mr David Grant,

All of the staff that worked on thw dolphin ward from 12th-18th have been incredible and made our long stay so much easier. The doctors medical team were fabulous at making sure he was on the right track and only sent home when he was ready. I couldn't have got through the week with my son if it wasn't for nursing team on the ward!

  10. Review titled Fantastic staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Maria Izquierdo Eyre - Posted on 23 July 2023

I went to urology surgical department due to having a kidney stone. I had to undergo two operations in a the course of five weeks, and all the time I was there, whether it was in day case unit, recovery or even the X ray department I always felt very well looked after. Nurses were amazing, friendly professional and kind. Doctors also informed me of my options at all times and all the procedures were well explained to me. I always felt like the nurses care for my well-being and their dedication and hard work hasn’t been unnoticed, hence this review. The hospital should be very proud to have such wonderful team.
