Review titled I was very impressed with the team and facilities
by orionsq94 - Posted on 10 November 2023
I found a lump in my breast and was seen at the Mermaid Centre at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust at Treliske within 2 weeks. The staff were all warm and welcoming and everything was explained clearly. I had mammograms, ultrasound scans and biopsies, all within one appointment. While the consultants suspect I have breast cancer, which is worrying, I was very impressed with the team and facilities. I was reassured that, once the biopsy results are available, an individual plan of treatment will be decided by a team meeting and treatment can begin.

Review titled Compassionate staff
by caringkc99 - Posted on 14 December 2023
I came in quite nervous to have 2 teeth surgically extracted. I had complications due to a broken tooth however throughout the whole procedure I was reassured and made to feel at ease by ALL persons present. Extremely happy with the care and compassion of staff.

Review titled I was in tears and they did not seem to care whatsoever
by Christinev548 - Posted on 04 December 2023
They could not get a cannula in my hand so I was told I would have to have the gas and air. I told to my endoscopist they were really hurting me, they told me if I used the gas and air properly it would hurt I have never used gas and air before. I was in tears and they did not seem to care whatsoever I felt very let down and like I did not matter whatsoever they could have been a lot kinder in the way they spoke to me I understand it had to be done but because I am very unwell. It was just a job for them, just wanted it over and done with maybe to move on to the next person which again I understand but being a bit more caring would have gone a long way, it was not being done to them so how do they know how much it hurt. They need a lesson in their bedside manner and they do not care about how they make people feel maybe they are in the wrong job. One nurse, they were lovely the one who could not apologise enough for not being able to get the cannula in for me and hoped they did not hurt me too much. They are the kind of nurses we need so people feel like they mean something and not like a piece of meat on a slab. It is about time someone started to listen to the patients

by horologiumrw44 - Posted on 03 December 2023
My appointment went according to schedule with no long delays which was greatly appreciated. The nurses were cheerful, smiling and immediately made me feel at ease. They, and the consultant, explained clearly what the procedures were so that I know what to expect throughout the tests.

Review titled The care in both places was exceptional!
by talonsb89 - Posted on 18 December 2023
Both services I used were friendly put me at ease explained procedures nothing was too much trouble. The care in both places was exceptional! The blood management team cleansed everything after each patient so no cross contamination hands washed blood pressure monitor thoroughly cleaned after every patient gloves also changed. The standard of cleanliness was exemplary. Well done I would give them a gold star!! The NHS is sometimes said to be breaking down but in those departments your staff are a credit to the Royal Cornwall Hospital duty never stopped walking miles to get blood and keeping us happy and catered for. A very big well done from me.

Review titled All staff were polite, friendly and caring
by Cornishpiskie24 - Posted on 28 November 2023
Yesterday I was discharged from AMU 1 after a short stay following attending A&E after becoming unwell. I would like to thank all the staff who were involved with my care in A&E, the Treatment Lounge and AMU 1. All staff were polite, friendly and caring whilst working under extremely challenging conditions. At all times decisions about my care were fully and clearly explained and I felt the care I received was exemplary . Careful consideration of impact of my very rare long term chronic illness was always at the front of their decision making. Thank you.

Review titled Unclear advice on breast screening for over-70s
by fluteps88 - Posted on 30 October 2023
I am 70 and have just received breast screening. I was sent an appointment automatically. I have now been told that if I wish further screening in three years' time I must book an appointment myself. I will not be sent a reminder nor an automatic booking appointment. This is because I will be over 70. Yet the NHS has advised me in writing that breast screening is advisable for women aged 71 and over! This is a contradictory statement and goes against all policy and practice regarding disease prevention and the tackling of health inequalities. Please consider changing this unhelpful practice.

Good afternoon Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am so sorry for the delay in replying to you on here. I am sorry to see that you have been told that you have to book your appointment in three years time without a reminder as you are over 70, despite the contradictory information you have been given. I have been advised that the best people to contact would be the NHS population screening programmes who can be contacted on england.screeninghelpdesk@nhs.net. Thank you, again, for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Thank you Megan
