  1. Review titled Excellent practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Emma barlow - Posted on 10 August 2023

I attended women's health today for a procedure. I was greeted by a health care assistant and a advanced nurse practitioner, whom I saw at my previous appointment. They explained my results and the procedure I was about to have and where very clear they also reasuured me and made ne feel comfortableand at ease. They asked me to undress from the waist down and gave me some privacy whilst I undressed. The advanced nurse practitioner talked me through every step of the procedure whilst the health care kept on reassuring me to make sure I was ok. I felt very relaxed and well looked after. After the procedure they talked me through what to expect and all my aftercare. Amazing unit all the staff ate lovely. Thankyou for all you do.

  2. Review titled A and E shocking

Rated 1 star out of 5

After 13 hours I am still waiting for a bed for my mother who was sent by her gp after having a health check which picked up palpitations and irregular heart beat. The 13 hour wait was a disgrace, the most worrying part is the fact that the place is filthy, very unhygienic, and in general disorganised. It seems if you can’t get a gp appointment then come to a and e, clog the system up be abusive and moan to the receptionist and bingo your in and out the door far quicker than your average person who abides by the rules and waits in turn. The nhs is a shambles and top of the heap is Royal Bolton hospital, my mother has deteriorated over the past 13 hours and still we sit and wait. Please also bear in mind she had to pay for a taxi to get here to this absolute nightmare as the ambulance time estimate given was over 4 hours. Can we please stop piling more bodies into this town the infrastructure cannot cope.

  3. Review titled Caring staff, honesty and overall care great

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kim - Posted on 12 July 2023

I am still on c1 but from entering a & e, going through triage and ecg department, chest X-ray, same day emergency care and c1 every single member of staff gave me their time, care and patience in a very difficult, life changing time. No scare tactics and all very reassuring allowing the consultant to give the messages at the right time. I cannot thank all of the hospital staff for their time and care and I still have some way to go in here but I have confidence in them after the last few days. A refreshing change was honesty about potential waiting times which put me at ease. Thank you

  4. Review titled They overlook issues intentionally

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Andy Donohue - Posted on 06 July 2023

Second time going there and second time just passed off by their staff, first time was during covid when after being positive for 14 days I went there with dizziness and breathlessness, they kept me waiting for hours and then did some basic heart rate and blood pressure checks and said all was fine and i can go without any explanation for the symptoms, i then booked to see an out of hours GP with my local surgery the day after and was told it was lucky i went as had a chest infection and both my eardrums were bulging from the inside with an infection as i also had a double inner ear infection too so no idea why the hospital staff didn't think of just looking in my ears when their basic checks came back fine? Second time was yesterday when I attended with a sudden sharp pain in my foot and a very clear V shape in the toes, they sent me for an x-ray and then said it looks fine so no bone damage and might just be swelling, when I asked why then would the toes go into a v shape I was told they didn't know and might just be swelling and I was fine to go After just putting v shape toes into Google I can see it is something called a planter plate tear of the ligament so wondering now if it is just a tear or possibly a rupture given the level of pain so back to now trying to see a doctor to try help me with it. I appreciate they are very busy at A&E but people don't just go there and choose to wait for hours for the fun of it, it's due to genuine symptoms and pain so disappointing that skilled and trained people just want to ignore obvious symptoms to try get you back out the door as quick as they can and leave you with the same problem you walked in with

  6. Review titled Amazing

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Charlotte - Posted on 26 July 2023

I was advised by 111 to take my little boy to a&e due to having complications from covid. We went knowing he was covid positive, we were put straight into our own room where all his obs were taken straight away. He has adhd and asd and every single member of staff was brilliant with him, explaining what they needed to do to him in a way he would understand. He got very upset having bloods and a play specialist came straight in to assist and the bloods were taken promptly. He had a rash which the doctor was concerned about and this was seen to quickly and effectively. We were transferred to the children’s ward upstairs where we were put into a room quickly and seen to almost immediately. They were concerned as he was tachycardic, he was monitored continuously and then we were sent home. The staff said that we would be referred to community nurse team so that they could come and see us at home if I was concerned at any point. As soon as we got home I received a phone call to see did I need them to come out that same night to check everything was okay. All in all the staff; doctors, nurses, play specialists, porters were all amazing and I cannot fault the paediatric department at all. I can sleep tonight knowing that my little boy is okay and he received the best possible care at the hospital. I want to express my gratitude to every member of staff we were in contact with today. Just brilliant!

  7. Review titled I could say alot

Rated 1 star out of 5

But I must say this hospital lacks on making sure patients have water. I spent one night with a bowel blockage without water or anything to drink. The buzzer rarely is responded to and often takes multiple requests. If you have elderly family or members with communication issues please ensure basic needs are being met. Royal Bolton hospital is rapidly declining in basic care post covid. I don’t want to see old problems return at the cost of lives. Avoid RBH if at all possible, if not be strong, fight for your care and make sure you’re heard.
