I took my son here for treatment, due to close at 8pm, we arrived at 6.20 and told, they were taking no more patients that night, even though only 4 people waiting, pretty bad. Told to come back tomorrow. Great.

  3. Review titled Appalling lack of care or professionalism!

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Rachael W - Posted on 20 April 2023

I received a very bad multiple cat bite to my right index finger. I went to Orsett 24 hours after the incident as the finger had swollen badly, was hot to the touch, deep red and extremely painful. It was clearly infected. The abrupt nurse at reception told me that there was no need for the tetanus or antibiotics that I requested, but I decided to wait to see the nurse anyway. After 2 hours the nurse saw me and advised there was no need for antibiotics, just an antibiotic plaster. He reluctantly gave me a tetanus jab but refused to give me any antibiotics. This goes against the NHS protocol which states that antibiotics should be given for cat bites due to the high risk of infection. Two days later I spoke with my doctor and was given antibiotics. Unfortunately this was too late and I ended up in A and E where the finger had to be lanced with a scalpel to release the pus within as there was a risk of sepsis. I subsequently lost the fingernail a few days later.

  4. Review titled Blood Test disappointment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Deborah Higgs - Posted on 23 March 2023

My mother had a blood test appointment at Orsett hospital. When we arrived there was a long queue of patients waiting to book in at the desk, the receptionist was having a discussion with a patient which lasted at least 10 minutes. By the time we got to the front of the queue we were told first of all that the clinic was running 40 minutes late (which was fine). We were then told that we were 15 minutes late and we could not be seen. We explained that we had been waiting in the queue which at this point was out of the surgery door. The receptionist was dismissive and stated that patients were given a 5 min window in terms of lateness and that we hadn't been in the queue that long. My Mum has Alzheimer's and it was a task to park, walk to the blood department and to be told that she couldn't be seen was frustrating and disappointing. 5 minutes is not long enough to allow for lateness for patients with additional needs and considering the queue was longer than 10 minutes and the clinic were 40 minutes behind, seemed unfair that we were bluntly dismissed.

  6. Review titled Efficient Service

Be aware that before 10am you put your name on a list and wait. I arrived at 09:30 and was 6th; by 10:00 there must’ve been 30 people there! My advice is do as I did: 1. Put your name on the list 2. Pay for your parking (by Main Entrance/Cafe 3. Get a coffee 4. Go back to MIU and wait I was convinced I’d dislocated my thumb in a car accident but they said it wasn’t dislocated just tendon damage so wouldn’t let me have an x-ray. My persistence paid off as I got an x-ray although it confirmed it wasn’t dislocated, but at least I now know for sure. If you do as I did, be prepared to be told I told you so! She was right, I didn’t wait too long and they kindly issued me a wrist/thumb splint which is helping protect it. Overall it was a better experience than I expected. Thank you.

They don’t open on time so if you’re in need or urgent care because you are in acute pain - standing outside in a line whilst they sort themselves out is not the one…. So many people in agony only 2 benches to sit
