Review titled An excellent emergency service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Joan Williams - Posted on 30 October 2024
I wanted to say I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of my care recently in A & E and then Ambulatory Care Unit. All of the staff were kind and respectful of my needs, from pain relief to wheeling me round departments for Ecg Ct scan etc. My results were gone through in details, and I was happy I understood what would happen next. If you have to be ill, this is the place to be!

Dear Joan, Thank you so much for your review of the treatment which you received at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, when you had to go to the Emergency Department and the Ambulatory Care Unit. It is good to know that your investigations were explained fully so that you understood what would happen next, and that the staff were kind and respectful. We hope that you are feeling a bit better and that you don’t have to return too soon, even if ‘this is the place to be’! Our best wishes, The Experience Team

Review titled Good medical practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Glynis Gaffney - Posted on 22 October 2024
I would like to acknowledge the excellent care and treatment I received today at Cramlington specialist emergency hospital. The medical and nursing staff were more than competent, and provided me with good clinical care and treatment. I was so grateful for the removal of a needle from my leg and the way in which it was done. Staff treated me with kindness, courtesy and understanding. In my opinion, they communicated very well with me and constantly monitored my pain levels. I could not have asked for a better service. I was also grateful for the moral support provided by a new member of staff carrying out shadowing duties. If this could be shared with staff on the trauma clinic, I would be very grateful.

Review titled Procedures Unit
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I hear in the media how "unfit for purpose", or "broken" the NHS is. Not in my experience. This platform does not allow me to name them but I hope they recognise themselves, my NHS angels, as my prayers go up for them. They treated me when I had a defibrillator implant yesterday. They are not only skilled but have a goodness about them which only comes from God Himself.

Review titled Helpful and Kind.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Amy Robson - Posted on 22 September 2024
I felt unwell and received such a warm and reassuring welcome from two members of staff in assessment at A and E at Cramlington. They were just so helpful and assessed me very quickly and efficiently. They listened when I shared my situation and my symptoms and quickly ran the tested I needed so I could return to my family who were admitted on a nearby ward. Cannot thank them enough for looking after me both physically and emotionally. It really made a difference.

Review titled Excellent Service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Amy R - Posted on 22 September 2024
I arrived to A and E with my son who was experiencing significant pain and other symptoms. The paediatric A and E team were so helpful. They quickly identified that we needed specialist attention from the orthopedic team who again were just so concerned and responsive to my son's situation. Everyone from the nurses, doctors, HCA and domestic staff has just been lovely and helpful. It's been a very long week with a lot of involvement with different teams but we are so thankful that we've received such a high standard of care for our son. Thank you so much. I appreciate that you have worked so hard to help us.

Review titled Fantastic people
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kim Schmid - Posted on 29 August 2024
My daughter was admitted into ward 3 for 4 days and all the staff were wonderful. From triage through a&e to being admitted every person we dealt with was friendly, helpful and supportive. When we had problems receiving after care closer to home they pulled out all the stops to help us and made numerous phone calls to make it happen. Huge thanks to everyone involved.

Review titled Fantastic bedside manner
Rated 5 stars out of 5

My mum was taken to Cramlington A and E for breathing problems. The doctor who saw her was amazing. He was patient, kind and thorough when dealing with mum who has early stage dementia and limited understanding at the best of times. All other staff were brilliant too but this doctor stood out in his whole approach.

Recently spent 2 days on ward 15 for removal of gallbladder, I can not compliment all the staff on this ward enough, all were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much. I was looked after completely even though at times you could tell they were short on staff.

Review titled Psych liasion team
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 August 2024
They were not even bothered when a vulnerable person who had been admitted due to a overdose left the hospital that is what psych liasion team actually said. The person had no money to get back and it wasn't their own choice to leave. Do the mh service and psych liasion team understand what a mh condition is where people hear voices that are external. The person could have easily come to harm and the plt didn't care about them leaving the hospital. What if it had been your relative? Please understand what mh is won't you when the person was in the hospital to be seen not to be judged by plt.

Dear patient, Firstly, we hope you have managed to seek the care you need. Secondly, we are deeply saddened to read your review, your words do not reflect the experience we would want any of our patients to feel whilst in our care. Please be assured there are several options available to you in order to investigate what happened. In the first instance it would be really helpful for us to know which ward/date you are referring to within The Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. Please could you email us at patient.experience@nhct.nhs.uk with this information and we will be able to respond with guidance on your options going forward. We will look out for your email. Take care, The Experience Team
