I had an operation on my stomach in the day surgery unit and I couldn't fault it one bit. The doctors and nurses were so amazing you can tell they really care about their patients. My results weren't great and the surgeon was so supportive in making me feel better about this. Nurses in the day centre are so friendly and made me feel so comfortable and I was sent home with all the medication I needed and without any questions. Best medical care I've ever received!

My mother was in this hospital for 9 weeks & the communication has been very lacking since day one. No telephones are answered, messages not passed on, nurses or consultants not keeping family informed of treatments

I turned up at A&E under my own means was assessed and went through to the main A&E where i had bloods + ECG there was a very long wait due to the amount of people getting seen was told I’d had a heart attack and was told that i had to be admitted because of it. Up there i had further bloods an injection of something and a bucket load of pills. Walked to AMU with a porter and was seen by a very nice nurse and doctor had more bloods and an ECG told that the troperin levels had risen and they wonted to do yet more tests was sent for a CT scan and then i waited and waited till the doctor came and said at gone 11pm that it was deffently a heart attack and i was going to have to be admitted for sure. So then i waited again and i saw one of the cardiology doctors that explained more than had been all day from anyone. A short while later i was taken to a bay where i was given a bed next to this lady that all i can describe as a nuisance she kept going on and on i wonted to try to get rest after the day I’d had anyway the following morning there was no way i could stand it any longer when they came to change the beds i said to the health care assistant it was either moving me heart attack or no heart attack there was no way i could spend another minute with this woman in the next bed to me. Anyway someone had come from somewhere to help with one of the other patients and the care assistant arranged for me to move to another bay. On the monday afternoon i was taken to the cardiac catheterisation lab where i was seen by these two lovely doctors. After having the dye injected they found that i had three blockages which came as no surprise what so ever my cholesterol levels you could put a rocket into space with. He asked if i wonted stenting or bypass surgery i opted for stents due to being near on 4 hours from home. All was good i was put in a single room after this and hooked up to a heart monitor for several hours where all was good this was taken away during the night. The next day i had a echo and more bloods all was good there i saw the doctor and the pharmacist and it was said that they would hurry the process up of me being able to get away to get home. This nurse that i believe was on some sort of power trip came and asked if i wont my medication now or to wait and till she had done her drug rounds on the ward. I said now please as we have around a 4 hour journey home. We cut the holiday short just in case. So she gave this chap his pills so he could go straight away that only lived a mile or two down the road and made me wait for over 2 hours by this time it was around 3.30pm we hit all the traffic of the parents picking the kids up from school and the workers coming out of work. As a result of this nurses actions I’m refusing any further treatment. The food and this hospital was disgusting they used a company called Serco that do the food in the prisons. Asked for salad and was told we don’t do salad the only fruit they did was canned.

Review titled Little dignity for female patient on male ward

Went in for a 3 hour procedure which required just an overnight stay. Everything went really well and all the staff were amazing apart from just one thing. I am an elderly but fit female. I was the only female on the ward so told to change into my hospital gown in the toilet. I was given paper knickers, obviously designed for a male and not big enough to go over my hips. When I pointed this out to the male nurse, his response was "go commando". I felt that I should have been treated with more dignity.

The surgeon did a fabulous job with my eyes my senior surgeon is Distintions. For his service. The ward was also great I was on the Denton Ward & it felt like I had known everyone for years, they were all so friendly and kind and helpful. I would like to say that for me I give the Denton ward a Highly Commended. Well done all of you.

The surgeon did a fabulous job with my eyes my senior surgeon is Distintions. For his service. The ward was also great I was on the Denton Ward & it felt like I had known everyone for years, they were all so friendly and kind and helpful. Review titled The care that I received was second to none

I had blood tests at the doctor's surgery. That evening I was informed that I needed to go to NNUH. I was admitted to the AMU, where I was given two blood transfusions, an iron infusion, and a B 12 injection. At the time I thought I was alright, got out of breath easily but after resting for a short time felt OK again. This was due to lack of oxygen in the blood. The following day a consultant had a talk, explained what was happening and needed follow-up appointments. All this was done in the next three weeks. I was kept informed of all procedures, the care that I received was second to none. Some of the procedures were invasive, but with the help of the nurses made it as pleasant as possible.

In my short 20 minutes time of consultation, my consultant and I were interrupted four times. I do not understand why the nursing staff could not be more respectful. At least knock on the door to come in, if it was an urgent question. I want my privacy as a patient. The nurse-in-charge was also very rude to my consultant. Please be respectful to one another at work. Being nice does not cost anything.

I went in for a routine operation and had an overnight stay on Dilham ward.I was kept informed throughout and my were opinions respected. All staff I met introduced themselves and were kind, caring and friendly, yet professional. I spoke to all staff involved in my care. If I used my call bell someone was with me within around 2 minutes. Food was okay, not brilliant but it is hospital food! Giving general NHS staffing issues and stresses I was very impressed with the service received. I also received a follow up call from the discharge hub to check how I was doing a few days after discharge which was appreciated. I would like to thank all Dilham ward staff for their care

The whole process for my inpatient day procedure was very smooth, everything was communicated clearly at every stage, the nurses on the ward really went above and beyond for me, I felt very looked after and I received excellent care from everyone despite how busy it seemed for everyone working. The urology surgeon was very polite, informative and very helpful, very caring. The anaesthetic team were very funny and kept me smiling and laughing before going under. One man held my hand and it was a really nice thing to do for me as it helped me feel cared for, I was a bit nervous. Coming around I had a fantastic team and nurse who was extremely caring and supportive, helpful and also held my hand again as I was disorientated. The level of care you receive is wonderful and I never felt worried about anything, they were always there to help and made sure I was sent home with everything I needed and any questions answered. Would really recommend this hospital, it’s been nothing but a lifeline for me
