  1. Review titled Long induction process

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 September 2024

Due to couple of reasons I have been reffed for an induction which was scheduled on the 30th of August. It took me a week, 7 days to get procedure copleted, as labour ward was constantly too busy due to shortage of staff. My child been born on the due date 6th of September. In this case I don't see the point of sending someone for an induction because there is some potential risk, and keeping 39 weeks pregnant women in a hospital for a weeks. I only has been inducted on that day because I have lost my patience. After 5 days in a Larch ward i was finally moved to labour ward where my waters meant to be broken, unfortunately night shift midwife wasn't able bo do this because in case labour will start she won't be able to stay with me as she has another pregnant women next door. Next day shift doctors team didn't even show up to visit me, because they were too busy... who ever was delivering food they just forgot about my order and I been left without food. When shift changed I tell them about food and about all this situation, that I am waiting induction to continue for 6 days and then I just lost my patience, I started to cry... I can just assume, that the midwife feelt sorry for me and she call night doctors team to continue procedure. Finally after about 14hours I was holding my new born in my arms. During this week I haven't meet with my fist daughter as she was very emotional about me not being at home. We couldn't even talk on video call every day because after conversation she was feeling upset and she wasn't sleeping well. So can you imagine what I was going through all that week because hospital are not employing enough staff? I think it is very unprofessional on the staff side, that they are using shortage as an excuse. I don't know if this is the reall reason or not, but to hear 6 days in a row that my procedure is delayed due to staff shortage is not giving much confidence to the patient. On the 30th August, I have called in the morning 7am to double check, and I have been told there is no beds available, but I need to come for monitoring and after that they decided to keep me in a hospital,on the waiting list for a bed even though my monitoring was ok.On that day they knew that they don't have capacity to manage such a many induction, but insted of rescheduling they just kept people waiting. Another thing, doctor/consultant wasn't specific when was explaining induction process. He didn't mention that it may take few days, and what circumstances may affect the speed of the process. I am disappointed about communication between staff and patients. I wouldn't recomend to go for an induction to this hospital keeping in mind that they are short of staff.

  2. Review titled Great staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Francesca - Posted on 18 September 2024

I went to a colposcopy, and I was very nervous about it as often nurse and doctor can be rude and show little empathy. I must say, as soon as I step in I feel calmer, great staff, very caring and always with a smile!

  3. Review titled Bad experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Ioana - Posted on 23 August 2024

I arrived at the emergency room at 4 p.m with unbearable stomach pain, nausea, vomiting and I ask the nurse and doctors to give me something to relieve the pain so that I could rezist, but I received nothing. I left at 02:00 with no result. The waiting time is exaggerated at over 10 hours and the nurse are not friendly

  5. Review titled Horrible, Time wasting hospital

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 July 2024

I went with my father to get my nose checked, they had us go through different procedures and had made us wait about 11 hours in total. First they told us to describe the problem and we said that it was unexpected sudden nosebleeds. They told us to go wait outside, made my father take a blood test and made us wait another few hours. Then after several hours of waiting we finally went to see the doctor and all we left with was a paper full of simple instructions that we could easily find on google. We went the night before at 10Pm and left at 9 the next day only to leave with a single piece of paper because apparently the hospital did not have nose services. My question is that why did they not tell us earlier when we first told them that the problem was a nosebleed that they could not do anything about problems with the nose instead of making us wait 11 whole hours? 11 hours gone to waste just like that

  6. Review titled Westham ward angels

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Louise - Posted on 12 June 2024

Having just had my appendix removed I’d like to say my time staying in West Ham ward was a friendly professional and reassuring stay. The nurses and the dinner lady were so lovely and helpful they are an asset to the department which is extremely busy and always on the go.

  7. Review titled Waiting time and compassion is poor

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sim - Posted on 27 June 2024

I xan appreciate waiting times can be long but this experimce was not pleasant. Waited for more than 8.5 hours for my elderly mother who had a bad fall. Once the xray were done- had to wait for the Dr. No staff on the ground to ask, everyone kept running away anytime we wanted to ask a question. One HCA indicated the delay was due to the Dr unable to open mother's Xray. First receptionist stated the automated " only been 6.5 hours and the current waiting time is 7.5 hours", the next one was a guy who was extremely rude. I explained there is no one on the floor and would be good to get an update as mother was in a lot of pain. His response was there is nothing on the screen about her, I clarified and asked that there should be some update e.g. has it gone to the Dr. He stated I used the word "outcome" and not update. So, I used the word update, at which he rolled his eyes! His next response was to ask the nurses despite me explaining no one on the floor, his lack of compassion was clear as it had been 8 hours plus with no update and for a Dr to see us and me wondering if mother had hit her head, if there is any internal bleeding etc. He then said follow the orange line and go to the nurses station, rolling his eyes and then hurrying back to chitchat with his colleague (this was 3-5am in the morning). I followed the orange line which took me to the inpatient a&e which had doors that required access cards! It would have taken him 5 mins to find out how much further the wait was as it had been more than 8.5 hours at that stage. Clear patronising behaviour and some basic empathy and compassion needs to be taught for such reception staff! To make matters worse, other staff thought the waiting area is the place to laugh and chit chat away as they stay in a corner or walk through which was just beyond infuriating whilst watching someone you love in pain and frail. Most horrendous experience I have had and I work in the NHS!! However, the Dr was really caring and empathetic to our wait and took the time to do all the examinations and explain everything in detail.

  8. Review titled Great Service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 June 2024

Had a Consultation with the Gynaecologist. She was excellent . She explained protocol for the treatment and the side effects. Gave clear instructions on how to use the product. Listened to my concerns and arranged a follow up in a few months time. This is NHS service at it's best. The staff and doctors are doing their best at this hospital under a great deal of pressure.

  9. Review titled Quick and efficient

I went in for a walk-in x-ray turned up at 8:30 doors for walking x-ray open at 9 and I was out by 9:15. Really quick efficient and hopefully will get my results in two weeks. Was cautious using this hospital because of the previous reviews, but I saw nothing but ease and sufficiency
