  1. Review titled Poor service rude receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Julie - Posted on 04 September 2024

Having been urgently referred by my g.p the receptionists response was "there are no priorities you will have to wait". 4 hours later blood pressure taken, further 4 hours wait still not seen. Had to walk out. One of the worst services I have ever encountered.

  4. Review titled Terrible experience

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 August 2024

A&E was excellent and the first dr I seen was understanding but as soon as you get to that SDEC it’s like a crazy carnival. First off was the waiting area about 4-5 people was allowed to act like thugs while everyone else there including myself was suffering some pain. The reception agreed it was ok for them to act like thugs btw… it don’t shock me with that department if I’m honest and over 3 hours later I got seen to only to be told anxiety is causing my abdominal pains… it’ll be the last time I come here rude, unprofessional staff. I was born here and I’ve had care here in the past but my god how you employ some of the most bizarre people who brush you off without doing further testing is absolutely disgusting. I don’t think all departments are like this but that SDEC are highly unprofessional and I’d advise it needs investigating because I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here to get treatment. & if anyone’s reading this and you’ve got to go SDEC at New Cross or your waiting to be seen in there, quickly get out there and go to a different hospital.

  6. Review titled Lack of communication, knowledge, training on all parts.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Patient still here - Posted on 06 August 2024

I arrived last monday with my colitis symptoms and was kept in the AMU ward for two days. I explained my situation at least 6 times to 6 different medical staff. Some diagnosed me with infection, salmonella and colitis. I was moved to C15 on Wednesday was told I would be sent home with the same symptons by the consultant. Which was a complete shock. Thankfully the main doctor above over rode this decision and because of my severe symptoms ordered a colonoscopy for Friday. I was starved for 18 hours and told last minute that this will take place on Monday now. Only after I persued it. A complete waste of a weekend which my bed could have been given to someone else with more urgency. On Monday my colonoscopy happened and the doctors ordered my medicine tuesday morning and promised it would be administrated the same day. I am still here tonight without any medicine and the nurses actually missed my actual medicine at 6pm tonight. I am very patient but I am shocked at the level of communication between all departments and most important the quality of care. I can only compare for when I was last admitted with the same flair up in 2015. It's really sad that my home town is providing this type of patient care. I am constantly chasing nurses up, most do reply back but some just nod their head. I understand nhs is stretched but question remains what is getting done about it in house in regards to training. I have noticed a very social and chilled back attitude since I have been here. Not by all. By some. Some are working hard. Some are just scrolling away on their phone. I'm only 38 but maybe I am cut from old school character cloth. Patients around me are shouting and screaming for care and yet I'm being as patient as possible. I actually don't know what else to say except of pure frustration on my part.

Had a minor procedure today in the Appleby Suite all went very well. All staff and surgeon were extremely professional and really nice friendly people, which put me at ease today, and a very positive experience.

  9. Review titled Compassionate staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I visited A&E with my 83 year old mum who had fallen at home. My 87 year old dad in a wheelchair insisted on being with her. The care was exemplary and the staff all took great effort to put mum at ease, taking into account the difficulty she has with her memory. My dad struggled, being 87 and having to stay up all night by her bedside, but staff took care of him too- One very talented, patient, compassionate nurse (I wish I knew her name) even found him a place to lie down for a while to help him get him through the night. I'm very grateful to everyone on shift that night- for the medical care and the whole family approach too.

  10. Review titled Wonderful ward c14

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ian - Posted on 02 June 2024

After taking I'll with chest pain after passing through A & E and the Assessment ward I arrived at c14 Ward, I have never been looked after in hospital so well, and I've been in a few over the past 20 years, the staff from the Sisters to the care assistant and student nurses are so professional, and the care was second to none, I can also say hospital food the best I ever had in 20 years, I'm thinking of booking a week next Summer (joke) ,I can't thank them enough for my care which was first class,
