Review titled Wonderful Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Miss Amanda Stepney - Posted on 09 February 2024
I was admitted to Ward 21a for day surgery to remove a large lump from my shoulder. I arrived at 7.20 and by 8.30 I had been given a bed, been introduced to the nursing team and met the surgeon and anaesthetist. Everyone was wonderful, so caring and each person took the time to talk to me and explain what would be happened and answer any questions. Every single member of the team, from the porter who wheeled me down to theatre, the nurse who sat with me in recovery, the nurse who prepped me for theatre to the surgical team were incredible. I had to stay overnight and I was so well cared for and made to feel valued and safe. I cannot fault any part of my care and am truly lucky to have the NHS. What a team! Thank you so so much.

Review titled Shocking A&E wait time 5.30 bus for a 5 year old child
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Gayani Lokuge - Posted on 23 January 2024
AE made my 5 year old waited from 10pm till we walked off at 3.30am with no treatment on 22nd Jan 24. I’m posting this from hospital car park. She was asked to be taken in by 111 operator. She was constantly sick and complaining of headache but at the end the poor child was asking for her bed as she was so exhausted with her condition and experience. This isn’t my first painful experience with nhs. I want people to see nhs doesn’t work anymore. Please give us the option to not to pay towards nhs so we can use that money towards private medical care. Life is short and precious. Time is valuable ! We work hard to pay our taxes. Serve us or leave us.

Review titled really amazing consultant but Poor nursing care on Ward 19
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 March 2024
I was admitted toward 19 and one thing I can say is the consultant I was under amazing and the way he is with his patients is amazing! Sadly, the care on the ward really takes a lot to be desired. You are given a call buzzer If you require assistance and they say to use it, but my call buzz was ignored for three hours. I was sitting in a soiled pad for three hours and I couldn’t get anyone to answer the buzzer. My request for pain relief took an hour but then on top of that the Nurse handed control drugs to the HCA who came to give it to me. I didn’t realise that Healthcare assistant was able to hand morphine to a patient! I must Admit that the matron was really delightful and did help me out of a difficult situation. So many of the HCA and nurses on ward 15 and Ward 19 are really professional and delightful and want to help but there are a nasty think that because someone has been prescribed morphine frequently that their pain should not be taken seriously and treated quickly.

I attended A&E with a dislocated shoulder on 27 November 2023. I would like to thank everyone I came in contact with for their swift attention to my situation. From nurse at recpetion who gave me pain relief, the nurse & porter who took me to X-ray, the nurses & doctor who manipulated my shoulder back in to place couldn't have been more caring and considerate. I was in excruciating pain and their dedication made the whole experience bearable. Thank you.

Review titled Very efficient, friendly and caring
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Gary Clark - Posted on 30 November 2023
I went in for a colonoscopy due to being flagged for bowel cancer screening. The process of not knowing what to expect, of course, is very stressful. I was amazed at the efficiency of the whole process from arrival through discharge. The staff at check-in, the nurse in the theater, and the doctor were all very friendly, caring and concerned about how I was feeling. Everyone I came in contact with was helpful and reassuring. I have read many stories about Milton Keynes Hospital, and was concerned about my visit. After today's experience, I would not hesitate to recommend this particular procedure and department to anyone.

Review titled Endoscopy isn't listed for reviews - but they were great
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Tadhg - Posted on 30 October 2023
Had a colonoscopy in the Endoscopy Department that isn't listed for reviews. Superb care and understanding from the whole team from pre-procedure phone calls through to post-procedure checks. A real understanding of how to support someone having a something happen to them which they haven't experienced before.

Review titled Awful dermatology experience
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 10 July 2023
My experience relates to a dermatology appointment I had last week and is no reflection on other areas of the hospital or other doctors. After having to wait months for a dermatology appointment I was greeted with a very disappointing visit. I was looking forward to getting a second opinion through the NHS, but upon entering to see the doctor and starting to explain my situation I was almost immediately put down and that I shouldn't be seeing the NHS as it wasn't an NHS matter, they can't help me. He then proceeded to repeat "I'm going to send your GP a hard letter". As if I was in the wrong and waisting their time for being there. This gave me a negative feeling, but I continued to try to explain my issues. I felt as if I didn't have the time to go through it all. Pictures were taken and presented on a computer screen to which the doctor pointed out that I do have what I already knew I had and that nothing can be done and to wait maybe 5-7 years where things may improve. I could try this one treatment, but that he's not an expert in this area. He then said "It's a bad job done". This made me feel really off. I was then ushered out of the room, I don't think the appointment was more than 5-10 minutes. There was no examination of my skin as expected for any underlying conditions, I couldn't even explain everything and forgot to ask about something that was important. I left feeling extremely emotional. At the very least you should know these things can have a big impact on a patient, not matter how big or small their problems are or if you have any expertise in the area. You should be mindful of their mental health and what they may be going through. I wasn't able to continue working that day and had to take some time off. In fact, my whole week was a mess and my mental health has suffered more because of this, I feel like I have been left in the dark.
