  2. Review titled Welcoming and Friendly

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This was my first time visiting Macclesfield hospital for an appointment for my little boy and I was extremely happy with the over all experience, as someone with quite a bad experience with other hospitals it’s really changed my perspective. The staff were absolutely amazing, so good and caring with children. There wasn’t a face I saw without a smile and everyone was so helpful as we weren’t familiar with the hospital. Everything was managed quickly and efficiently without feeling rushed the staff were very understanding and attentive. I could see there was a high standard of cleanliness throughout the hospital. Very impressed with everything over all and would highly recommend, huge well done and thank you to everyone.

  3. Review titled Children's A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paul Stanway - Posted on 10 September 2024

I brought my daughter in to the children's A&E department as she had hurt her ankle in PE. Everyone of the staff who saw us was brilliant and extremely helpful. From booking my daughter in, to us leaving took approx 40 min. This included an examination from the Nurse Consultant, having an X-Ray, and getting the results. Brilliant. The facilities were clean and bright with lots of things for the children to do while they waited. It really was an excellent service and experience.

  4. Review titled Excellent attention and care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

We arrived at 03.30 and could not have received better care and attention. We were well looked after from the moment we met the reception staff all the way through the time we were there. staff ensured we were comfortable, had food and drink when we could and kept us upto date at all times. Excellent standard of care, could not fault them particularly with the interruptions from building work and being extremely busy. Fabulous team and onward referral to the surgical team who were equally caring and attentive.

  6. Review titled Excellent onward care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Having been referred to the surgical team from A&E we continue to be very impressed with the care and attention to detail/symptoms. The team were extremely busy but that did not stop them keeping us up to date with timings of scans and subsequent reports. Following the scans it would have been easy to say all was well and we could be discharged but the team took the time to explain all the findings and make sure we were happy. Delighted with the care by all the hospital staff and surgical team under such busy and difficult times. Huge admiration for the standards of care.

  7. Review titled Fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I went to A&E yesterday (3rd July) and was rushed into a room due to chest pain. I had wonderful doctors and nurses, I felt at ease and we joked too - they really reassured me that I was in good hands. I hope I'm never back there for obvious reasons but I know I'd be in great hands if I did

  8. Review titled MIsmanaged

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Alison Cartwright - Posted on 16 July 2024

As always the staff are all clearly overworked but nonetheless lovely so this is not a criticism of them or the treatment I ultimately received. I checked in with what was (even to me) a fairly obvious minor fracture of my foot-quickly triaged at around 11.15pm at which time there were very few patients in that area. I fully expected to wait and fully appreciated there were far more urgent cases in the Resus department so after 6 1/2 hours of zero communication was told there was more going on behind the scenes which seemed a stock answer without checking but which I fully accepted. Not until the shift change when a new staff member pointed to my swollen foot and asked if I'd been x-rayed or seen a Dr did I realise I'd just been forgotten and after that was x-rayed, diagnosed with a small bone fracture in my foot, given advice and fitted with a boot - discharged about 8am with lots of apologies about the unnecessary wait. As with other reviews there are no tea/coffee facilities and only crisps/chocolate and fizzy drinks or water. It seemed to me that there was absolutely no communication or proper system even between staff on duty with notes being almost shuffled the whole time I sat there observing. At one point it was suggested I needed blood tests and a cannula, pointless and thankfully it also got forgotten. I think most rational people are respectful and understanding of all the staff; we saw others being less than polite which is wholly unacceptable. However, it would seem that simple ailments ( my own included) could be swiftly dealt with by a qualified nurse practitioner to alleviate the wait and so avoid confrontation. One patient attended for a tetanus after being directed via 111 which would take 10/15 minutes to sort and yet, like us all, he had to wait for hours (not as many as me I might add) In short zero communication, made to feel awkward for simply asking for an update after 6 hours, poor food/drink options and quite frankly a text feedback which then rejects your reply then says thanks for your feedback when its not been sent just beggars belief. We are all aware of the struggles in the NHS, all aware of delays but just feel some of the heat could be taken off by having one person responsible for coordinating on every shift and that seemed non existent meaning a waiting room of tired (some very unwell) patients with most trying really hard not to be impatient - myself include hence my wait! I hope you accept my feedback as it's intended - your staff are all lovely so this doesn't reflect on them doing what I imagine is often a thankless job which with simple changes could be improved.

  9. Review titled Brilliant!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Unexpected visit to Macclesfield DGH A&E department on Friday. Can't praise the staff highly enough for the care they provided. From Reception through Triage and straight into a cubicle, everyone was friendly and welcoming. Clear updates provided on progress and constant checking up on condition. We take the NHS for granted until we need it. I was struck by the mixture of nationalities amongst the staff with at least 75% of the Nurses, Doctors etc from overseas and it brought home to me just how we depend on so many people not native to our country to look after us. Beware those who say we don't need these people and also those who have denied proper funding for the NHS over so many years.

  10. Review titled Above and beyond

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lisa Squires - Posted on 18 June 2024

Took my elderly mother for an Ultrasound. Mum has dementia, poor mobility and a host of other issues. Staff were kind, explained the process in a simple and slow manner and showed respect to a frightened lady who wasn't sure what was happening. The parking attendant was brilliant assisting me to manoeuvre mum into the car within a confined space with the added pressure of a car waiting for the space. Thank you for making what could have been a stressful time, less stressful
