  1. Review titled High Degree of Professionalism

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jennifer Payne - Posted on 23 August 2023

Again I am writing to thank all the staff involved in my visit to the Fracture Clinic yesterday. I was treated right on the time of my appointment having my plaster changed by a very expert charming lady followed by an x ray. Also I must thank the lady who was diligently keeping everyone informed as to what they should do next. Very professional, kind, caring people.

  2. Review titled Superb care from everyone

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My husband had a fall earlier today and ended up lying on the road between two cars. Several amazing people stopped to help, making my husband comfortable and calling for an ambulance whilst also looking after me as I have to rely on a walking frame at the moment. When the ambulance arrived the paramedics were excellent- very thorough in assessing him whilst also being friendly and putting us at our ease. On arrival at hospital they stayed with us for about 30 minutes until a cubicle became free and they could hand my husband over to the A&E team. We were hugely impressed by their professionalism and interpersonal skills. My husband remained in A&E for the next nine hours and received an extremely high level of care throughout. He was given blood tests, several ECGs, a CT scan and regular monitoring of his bp and temperature. Everyone involved ( healthcare assistants, nurses, porters, doctors, an ANP) were caring, empathetic, extremely professional and very good at explaining to us what was happening and why. The department was very clean, calm, efficient and well organised. It was very busy but there was always a member of staff there when we needed one. We couldn’t have asked for more. A big thank you to everyone involved!

  3. Review titled A&e

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I had a fall, with injuries to my face knees and chest. The nursing team was good getting the relevant tests done and giving temporary dressing whilst waiting for the doctor. There was only one doctor on duty for that night and I did not see one until the day staff came in at 8am. We were there from 1:30am and we were there for almost 8 hours. My blood pressure was extremely high and I did not get any treatment for that until I was referred to another department around 10:00am You need to put the right levels of night staffing in A&e. Very disappointing.

  4. Review titled Failing women's health

Rated 1 star out of 5

I am writing this review because a number of my friends have also struggled to be seen when they have gynaecological problems, and I think it needs to be talked about more. I have been suffering with fibroids which I finally managed to have removed in July, the whole process since going to the doctor has taken a year. I waited over four hours to go into surgery and the hospital seems drastically understaffed and the nurses were stressed- it felt like a bad environment to work in, and wasn't a nice experience to be in alone. After surgery, I have still been experiencing flooding and pain- I phoned the hospital multiple times but was told each time (if I managed to speak to anyone at all) to wait another month. My post-surgery check up was cancelled and moved to January (6 months after surgery), and no one can even speak to me on the phone. I have since had to go back to the doctor and wait for another ultrasound to start the whole process again. I am frustrated, I feel like womens health issues are never properly investigated or taken seriously, and unfortunately Kingston hospital needs more staff/ more money/ better organisation. This is not a bad review of any member of staff- they do their job because they care and I am very appreciative of all the nurses and doctors; however the system in general is clearly struggling and it leaves patients feeling like they are not worthy of proper care or treatment- particularly in terms of women's health and gynaecology.

  5. Review titled Warm and supportive children's teams

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anna Fleming - Posted on 29 June 2023

We spent just under a week in Sunshine ward following admission through Dolphin Ward and then later via A&e Everyone we met were friendly, warm, professional and reassuring. The facilities on Sunshine ward are brilliant from a lovely garden, to teen room with PlayStation and bright cheery colourful spaces. We've received excellent care - not only medically but support for our son and for us as parents. The doctors, nurses, play team, wider support staff and chaplaincy team were all great and really made a difficult time much more manageable. In my son's words: "Very good, everybody was very nice, very nice facilities, and they make you very welcomed. I particularly liked the play team because of the fun things they had to make the day go by quicker."

Our daughter was treated here following a bad experience at another hospital. Everyone we met from A&E, urgent care, orthopaedics and sunshine ward were fantastic. We know the pressure on you all and you were brilliant.

  7. Review titled Kind, courteous and professional through & through

by urbanfox - Posted on 11 July 2023

Was unfortunate enough to fall over onto my left hand, was left with significant bruising and cuts and originally attended Kingston to get a Tetanus shot, was referred from Reception and Triage who very quickly who suggested I may have broken something. I was in the Urgent Treatment Centre for approximately 2-3 hours which I think is reasonable considering the others they needed to see. I was sent for x-rays very quickly and was told that they suspect I’d broken one or two bones towards the base of my hand / wrist area. I was referred to the Trauma Triage Clinic who contacted me within 48 hours and had an appointment the same week, they put me into a cast and made the necessary follow up appointments there and then, I returned in two weeks for a review, I had my cast taken off for more X-rays and was seen by the consultant who confirmed I’d broken my Scaphoid. I was sent back to the Fracture Clinic to have another cast and was booked in for an urgent MRI to further assess the injury which was scheduled for a week later. MRI ran smoothly other than not being able to fit the cast into one of the machines though continued using an alternative setup. My treatment isn’t over yet though so far Kingston Hospital has been great at every step. Both the Urgent Treatment Centre and Trauma Triage Clinic are fab - kind, courteous and professional through and through. Always contacted when promised with reasonable wait times for scans and treatment.

  8. Review titled Faultless care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Came to A&E by ambulance who were also excellent I was really poorly and every one of the staff who helped me was kind compassionate and professional and put me at ease despite me being so scared - I cannot thank them all enough for swiftly acting and making me so much better than I was - the ward staff were also exceptional- they were so busy and under extreme pressure and yet nothing was too much to ask - to feel safe when you’re at your most vulnerable is all one can hope for and that was certainly met Thankyou all of you ambulance,nurses,drs,X-ray CT and MRI porters all the staff - I’m so very grateful to you - I don’t dwell on if I had not come in but I’m so glad I did -

  9. Review titled Total chaos

Gi department referred me for an ulrasound-biopsy on my pancreas on June 15th , the endoscopist said that the results would be available in 10days. It is now 25 days on, and cant get to know the results, basically is the tumour benign or malignant. Thought I had an appointment this afternoon, but it was cancelled. Maybe they have been considered by the Muti Disp team, but maybe not, Day by day I feel more desperate, communication from kh is inadequate, and even more difficult with the marsden which kh partners with.

  10. Review titled Professionalism. Understanding Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 May 2023

Visited A/E yesterday. I was extremely impressed with the Professionalism of the Staff. Department is well organised and clean and bright. I had a bit of a wait between being triaged to having tests done and being seen by the Registrar. The Nurse who took my bloods and carried out an E C G was very helpful due to my immobility. The Registrar on Duty was brilliant despite having numerous patients to see. He was very knowledgeable and took time going through my results and despite being run of his feet he answered all my questions. Well done Kingston A/E.
