  1. Review titled Restaurant lack of places for patients or visitors

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 October 2023

I had to wait for my partner sometimes who is having treatment and from what I can see the only place to wait, in the bad weather, is the restaurant. But the restaurant is frequently in use by large numbers of staff, not using the eat/drink facilities but just somewhere to sit. This means that there is sometimes not enough spaces for non-staff and very very noisy. There should be somewhere else for staff to have meetings.

  2. Review titled Thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended the breast clinic for a biopsy. I have a severe visual impairment & guide dog owner The nurse, doctor the lady who did the biopsy was absolutely fantastic, she was caring supportive and kept me informed of everything that was going on. I was very scared before appointment but I was put at ease straight away. The service I received was just wonderful and I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you are able to trace the staff I saw I would be grateful as they deserve recognition for the outstanding care tgey provided. X

  3. Review titled Great experience at Dermatology

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lesley Wilkins - Posted on 21 September 2023

I attended an appointment for my husband recently at the Dermatology department at Kent & Canterbury Hospital, which was a really great experience. We were seen promptly by the doctor, with an accompanying nurse. They were both extremely caring and after examining my husband called for a more senior colleague. He then proceeded to explain the various treatment options in an extremely helpful way. They were all full of kindness & consideration, making my husband able to make an informed choice of treatment. Wish there were more people like them in the NHS.

No details easily available for location of department, where to park or even if parking is available; if it is how far to walk.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. This is something that my team the "Patient Voice & Involvement Team" and the I.T. department in the Trust are working collaboratively to try to resolve. We are aware that patients are having problems with the lack of signposting information and are working to improve the information available both on our new patient website and on the new Patient Portal. You can access the portal by downloading the NHS App and downloading the portal from there. We hope in time this will make life a lot easier for all our patients.

  5. Review titled Disappointing support

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 July 2023

Since my Stroke last September 2022, nobody from the Stroke Unit has seen or examined me, I have only had CT scans and 3 phones calls followed by a letter from the doctor in the Stroke Unit. I was told to see my GP with my existing symptoms. The letter I have just received said I was discharged now, which I was not told on the phone call, and also an alteration of my tablets, which again was not discussed. Even though I was not an in patient, I feel unsupported by this department as they have never physically checked me and helped me with a recovery plan.

  6. Review titled Respect and dignity denied by staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David - Posted on 18 July 2023

Telephoned urology to enquire info on an appointment, the woman on phone reviewed my notes and said " you will have your removal of stent by local anaesthetic", I gave info that every specialist seen said the stent would be inserted and removed by General anaesthetic, the woman then said that the removal will be by local anaesthetic, that is how we do it that is what you will get , oh well , many meetings on my requirement for General anaesthetic due to life long medical conditions that had a very serious implication when on a previous local Anaesthetic, off to Folkestone (never known a hospital in Folkestone) got Google directions and Google investigation to find information on stent removal under local anaesthetic as said before never had any information this would be under local , Should I have to get Google to help on treatment , at least Google helped . That woman's attitude towards patient involvement in the care given needs improvement and could have maintained a little dignity and respect .. Every ounce of respect and thanks to every specialist throughout my medical journey , your great work shall not be tarnished by one person's attitude .

Thank you for taking the time to give us this feedback. I am sorry that you found this staff member to be unhelpful and that they did not listen. This is not in line with the Trust's values and is not acceptable. I hope you were able to discuss any concerns regarding the type of anaesthetic when you attended the appointment. We don't recommend using an internet search engine to find information about conditions or treatments, and I'm sorry you felt you had to do this. We'd recommend you use a trusted site, such as https://www.nhs.uk I will forward this feedback to the Urology team. I'm pleased the clinical care you received was good and I hope you are recovering well. Best wishes

  8. Review titled Excellent Service - Great teamwork

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 March 2024

I have now been fully discharged after having a robot assisted radical prostatectomy. The preoperative investigations were extensive, extremely thorough. During this time the care, kindness, communication and information was extensive. The seminar held for all prospective patients and their partners was innovative. Having this level of information about the procedures and post-operative care left no surprises and in my view aided a rapid recovery. The close teamwork that clearly takes place in this department is impressive. During the time when face to face consultations were not possible I always felt supported by the quality of the telephone contact and subsequent communication with my GP practice. The urology and andrology team who were responsible for my care and treatment should be commended. This level and quality of service (particularly the teamwork) is not available privately. I am now fully discharged and free of my original condition. Thank you all so much for your care and kindness.

A visit to UTC needed following my Mum's fall at home. She was seen extremely quickly by friendly professional staff. Following an assessment she was sent off for an x-ray and was back within 15 minutes. Fortunately no fractures, just bruising. Thank you all for your care.
