  1. Review titled Exemplary care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sue Cruickshank - Posted on 03 December 2022

I attended the eye clinic to have laser treatment . It was a Saturday and I was very impressed that a full clinic was available. The staff were efficient and cheerful. The Doctor who performed the procedure explained clearly what would happen and answered all my questions giving me reassurance. We are so fortunate to have the James Paget as our local hospital.

  3. Review titled Our story of an exemplary service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 January 2023

We arrived at A&E on 26 November early afternoon and were greeted by 2 friendly staff. We had sustained a fall with suspected fractures to upper limbs. We were booked in at reception and seen in a short period of time by the triage Dr and the X-ray department. Upon arriving back at A&E we were immediately directed to the relevant specialists to be given the result of our injuries. My husband sustained a fractured shoulder and was seen by the Dr again and issued with a collar and cuff, pain medication and a telephone appointment scheduled later in the week with the consultant. I saw a specialist nurse for my injuries. The nurse was kind, empathetic and explained how I could manage my injuries and pain relief. We did not have to wait long to be seen from the time we arrived to going home. It all went smoothly and was very well coordinated. We were then discharged home with follow up letters sent to our home and our GP practice and telephone calls followed from the consultant and physiotherapy service as scheduled. We have both made a very good recovery and feel we have been cared for very well. From walking into A &E the care we have received by the staff has been exemplary and the service seamless from one department to another including all the staff who have attended to us along our recovery journey. We cannot thank the team who saw to us on the afternoon of 26th November ie the receptionists , Dr, Nurse and X-ray staff were brilliant including the follow up care by the Consultant and physiotherapy team. I am only sorry we cannot name all the staff who were on duty that day to give them our heartfelt thanks but I hope this review reaches them. Thank you once again.

  4. Review titled Insensitive consultation.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 October 2022

I accompanied my husband to his first consultation with a general surgeon today. My husband is hard of hearing and forgetful of his previous medical procedures so I was there to ensure that the consultant received the correct information about my husband’s condition. However, the consultant told me very firmly that they only wanted to hear the replies from my husband and not me. This resulted in numerous repeated questions and incorrect answers. After we left, my husband said that he couldn’t hear the consultant’s questions clearly and didn’t understand the diagnosis. Fortunately, I was still in the room so knew what the next steps would be although I would have preferred to have had the opportunity to ask some questions on my husband’s behalf.

  5. Review titled Very poor

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by R Gulliver - Posted on 18 October 2022

Very poor service received, only really seem interested in kicking the can down the road. Then eventually saying that because the condition has not been addressed early enough there is now nothing to be done. Not everyone will have the same experience as us as a family concerned for their elderly relative. However for us the quality of service and outcome were woeful.
