  1. Review titled A caring and efficient service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I took my husband to A and E having sought advice from NHS 111 and my GP Practice on 15th August in the late afternoon. We arrived at a packed A and E (40 plus people) but they had been briefed about his arrival in advance and he saw a doctor very quickly and they started treatment as soon as possible. All the staff we met were very caring and the service itself was very efficient in spite of the volume. He was given a bed in a cubicle and then admitted onto a ward over night. I'm very grateful to everyone for their caring attitude and professionalism.

I went for an appointment and then got diagnosed with severe incontinence.after test the consultant gave my four options and no explanation of the procedures.they just told me to choose which treatment I would like there and then with not knowing anything about them I felt like they just wanted me in and straight out. After been in waiting list a while I finally got an appointment for my procedure but they had to cancel as they had not referred me to see anaesthetic doctor first. They then sent me another appointment and again cancelled because they did not refer my to an anaesthesia first so twice been cancelled and still on waiting list. I’m also a type 1 dietbetic and they gave me no information on what I should do when I can’t eat or drink after midnight and didn’t need to be on the ward untill 11.30 so that 12 hours with no food so my sugars could drop dramatically. There was just no patient care whatsoever and no information about anything that was going to happen with the procedure and after care.

I have had several consultations over the past year or so in the eye clinic at Hull Royal. On every occasion my consultants have been professional, informative, caring and supportive. In July I had a cataract operation and the whole team were really brilliant. I was very nervous, but they were extremely understanding and treated me with compassion. I would certainly recommend the entire cataract team who have given me back my sight in one eye, and I will definitely be booking in for my second in the near future. As someone who suffers with anxiety, my consultant put me at ease, has been understanding of my situation, and has looked after me very well both before the operation, and since. Having a rare disease that affects my eyes, I was nervous about having the operation, but the professionalism of the whole team, and especially my consultant who made sure to liaise with other drs before the operation gave me confidence to go ahead. It's truly a miracle to have my sight back and I would certainly recommend anyone to come to Hull for any concern over their eyes. A really great job, a really great hospital and a really great team of staff. Thank You.

Last night, I marked my first experience in an NHS hospital and my initial encounter with the ambulance services. From the moment the emergency operator stayed on the line with me until the EMTs arrived, their care and professionalism were exemplary. The EMTs' handling of the situation and the attentiveness of the emergency nurses and doctors left a profound impression on me. Everyone I interacted with was incredibly professional, courteous, caring, and reassuring. Hull Royal, you should be immensely proud of your outstanding team. Thank you for all that you do! 👍👍 and for helping my 101 year old mother on her birthday

  6. Review titled Endoscopy ward . Hull Royal Infirmary

Rated 5 stars out of 5

As a result of the bowel screening process, blood was found in my poo earlier this year and I had to go in to Hull Royal Infirmary on 13th June 2024 to have large polyps removed from my bowel which,if left would probably become cancerous. The staff at the endoscopy ward were lovely, they made me feel relaxed and were very efficient. The colonoscopy procedure wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be and all the staff were brilliant. I’ve got to return in a few weeks for removal of remaining polyps and will not be worried at all about the procedure. The whole bowel screening programme is fantastic and almost certainly saved me from bowel cancer. Thank you.!

  7. Review titled Superb Professionalism and care throughout

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I came into the vascular unit to have a btk amputation however, with knowledge of all the clinicians it was decade to try to save the leg by doing a front foot amputation. This was bot successful and I am now awaiting an btk amputation. Through out the team (from auxiliaries to senior consultants) showed exemplary care and understanding even when I got a tad emotional . All the team members were fantastic with far to many to name-check but they know who they are :-)

  8. Review titled Very Satisfactory

Arrived at the glaucoma clinic at 8.15am, receptionist checked my details and amended 2 there and then. I was seen within 5 minutes of my appointment time, over the next 3 hours I had 6 or 7 tests (I lost count!) I was conducted to and from the various room. (being autistic, this was a massive benefit!) there was some time in between tests, but not long enough to become bored. 1 lady, in particular was very good, and wasn't hesitant in seeking a second opinion. (or a 3rd!) I came away feeling my condition had been well and truly investigated! On the whole, a very positive experience within the confines of the condition. Fully matches my experience of the local medical practitioners! Full credit and praise to all involved. Thank You!

Wife had cancer op then chemo, she suffers rheumatoid arthritis and during chemo had to have her rheumatoid medication stopped. 9 weeks after her last chemo the trust did not get in touch with my wife to reinstate it, I contacted rheumatology hull and they said she would have to see rhumatoligist at end of may 2023. This means my wife has gone without her medication for 10 weeks or more. multi-disciplinary team (MDT) is a group of trained staff from different areas of healthcare, who meet together every week, to discuss the care of individual patients. The above did not happen now my wife will suffer without her rheumatoid medication.

I had my regular botox injections today to treat blepharospasm. The consultant has to be one of the nicest people in the world. He has time to explain things and makes me have confidence in what he says.
