  1. Review titled Well Cared For

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 August 2024

I was under the care of the fetal medicine team for a pregnancy earlier this year which unfortunately did not end well, however the care and compassion I received from every member of staff I came across was second to none. I am now half way through a subsequent pregnancy and have been so well cared for. The staff we have dealt with are wonderful. Thank you so much!

I had a small procedure done and from the moment I walked through the door I was met with caring and helpful nurses. I was kept informed throughout the process and was even able to watch on a screen. I can't recommend this Hospital enough.

  3. Review titled First Experience of Hospital Stay

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Burfotron - Posted on 02 September 2024

Went to Cheltenham ED by choice from 111, quite quickly seen, then referred to Gloucester Hospital Ward 5b at 8pm, my hubby was called into to be triaged by two nurses who took bloods and details at 10pm, then he was seen by a doctor who then arranged for him to stay in overnight for an operation the following day. The two members of staff on Ward 5b, Bay C, were very good, they kept him well informed throughout his stay, thank you Ward 5b and to everyone we dealt with for you all being very efficient, quickly processing my hubby and generally making him feel comfortable and making him feel at ease, especially as he has never been in hospital in his entire life. Once again, Thank You

Thank you so much to everyone at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Mayhill Unit in particular for the kindness and professional service I received having an operation on my sinuses. Absolutely every member of staff was incredibly kind and hardworking and I was looked after so well from start to finish. You are all an inspiration.

  5. Review titled Amazing staff on 9a

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kia foley - Posted on 24 July 2024

All staff on 9a were extremely helpful and caring I couldn't of asked for better treatment in the 5 days I was admitted. There were always staff available to help and the buzzer was always answered. All staff were so chatty and welcoming and nothing was to much bother. Made my stay alot more better having staff so polite. The ward was also extremely clean. This was a much better experience then ward 2a I was in previously before being moved to 9a the staff were rude, didn't help and also gave wrong information. They also didn't take notes of any medication received and didn't have any bedside manors. I was extremely upset and miss treated on this ward. No buzzers were answered they were to busy chatting or not being seen anywhere. Although moving to 9a wasn't the correct ward for my condition I felt they were extremely helpful and gave me the treatment and care I needed. 100% patient comes first on this ward ! Thank U 9a for making my stay more comfortable for me.

  6. Review titled Great department !!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a procedure done in the endoscopy unit at Gloucester today. I was really anxious but can I just say I received nothing but reassurance and care and although I'm really not good in hospitals my experience was filled with kindness. Everybody was kind, friendly and funny (which always helps with nerves) thank you so much for your support and helping me through the procedure and ultimately giving me the best news at the end. Keep doing what your doing, which is an amazing job! Thank you again. Paul.

  7. Review titled Reassuring experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Today we visited the Gloucester Royal Hospital for the first time and we were very impressed. From the moment we walked into the pleasant open space that included an attractive coffee shop, card and gift shop, informative displays and reception we encountered kindness. The volunteers, dressed in red jackets, guided us through the electronic registration. We sat in well marked and airy waiting zones and we were called on time for our appointment in outpatients ‘surgical and gastro enterology’. The initial assessment was undertaken by a friendly and helpful nurse. The main appointment was with a senior nurse practitioner who was both reassuring and clear in her explanations. She gave us relevant information and was pleasant and humorous . Throughout our time in the hospital we noticed the caring way in which staff spoke to their patients and each other. It was an unexpectedly pleasant visit. Please pass on our compliments to your staff.

  8. Review titled Dire experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

As a recently retired GP I have been horrified by my experience of bringing my frail 90 year old father to A&E with a fractured spine. In fact we're still here languishing in what's laughingly called Pitstop facing our second night in a noisy cubicle because there are no beds. Having been in the frontline myself in the past it's a real shock to see how totally chaotic it has become. Most of the individual clinicians from the paramedics to the nursing staff and medical teams are kind and competent but there is clearly a complete breakdown in communication between departments and in continuity of care. If I wasn't able to be my father's constant advocate and carer these 36 hours I think he could have come to serious harm and I'm still not even sure he will get to the rehab setting that he needs in time to prevent an irreversible deterioration. This is no way to treat frail elderly (or their carers - I've had to stay propped in an uncomfortable chair for 36 hrs and fend for both of us). It doesn't have to be this chaotic. Referrals missed, drugs not written up, no-one knowing who is required to review results, etc, etc It's also a travesty that our highly trained paramedics are spending whole days hanging around A&E in large numbers because their patients are stuck when waiting times for ambulances are so long. What is going on?

  9. Review titled Great care and professionalism

by Glyn Griffiths - Posted on 11 May 2024

Spent 4 hours in A&E today with sister-in-law. Tedious boring and glad it was over but the professionalism of the the staff was exceptional. I was 9 when the NHS was formed and I have supported it my whole life and will do until the day I die. Thankyou
