  2. Review titled Poor practice

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I am reviewing as an advocate for my elderly mum. She was Abandoned at the hospital entrance for three hours while waiting for hospital transport home . Mum is completely dependant on others for mobility and toileting. She had to rely on the kindness of a stranger to get her food and water. She was returned at home at 15:00 having been sat in her incontinence pads from 9:30 . I am appalled by the lack of care and respect towards my mum and hope this will result in lessons learnt and an apology to my mum!

Your Review: Everything, from the nurses assessment to the doctor's was 5 star. The nurses were welcoming, efficient and professional, your mind was immediately put at ease. I was impressed with the doctor, she paid great attention to detail and fully explained everything.

From the initial assessment by Choc to the assessment in A&E, everything was spot on. On arrival at A&E, the receptionist was kind and helpful, the Choc team member was welcoming, and explained everything. The A&E doctor was kind, welcoming, and paid great attention to detail explaining everything.

We came in at the weekend with an infant with worrying symptoms. Seen quickly and with great professionalism and care. It was clear the department was stretched and very busy but we experienced only superb care and support. Thank you Furness General team, you are exemplary.

  6. Review titled Fabulous staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by grateful patient - Posted on 27 January 2023

Went to A&E at 10 am. Within 10 mins was triaged and sent to x ray. Seen within 15 minutes & told to return to a&e to await results. As we arrived back we were being shouted. Luckily only a very bad sprain, so had a boot fitted & discharged. All this done in 1 hour. Many thanks to all of the fantastic staff who were professional and friendly. Once again many thanks to all of you.

  8. Review titled Zero Response to DVLA License Renewal Enquiry

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Mike Murray - Posted on 13 December 2022

I've tried to get a response to an enquiry about the Rheumatology Department failing to respond to the DVLA when they requested an update on my condition 3 Months ago, however they won't even respond to me. My job is now in the balance and the mental strain is now tremendous, not knowing if they will ever respond and I'll get a new License.

  10. Review titled Helpful staff, underfunded service.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 October 2022

Experiencing symptoms of Covid-19, reported them on the 111 service and was instructed to call 999. As a result I checked myself in at a&e - I was triaged and bloods were taken but no other progress to getting me a cubicle was made to receive further medical attention. By 2am I decided to sign myself out after waiting for about 6 to 7 hours. This isn’t the fault of the staff at the facility who are no doubt dealing with the intense pressure of trying to keep this service functional without adequate funding or staffing. The policy of not requiring and providing high quality face masks (n95 or equivalent) for anyone requiring assistance at a&e is exclusionary to patients at higher risk from Covid-19. They were not mandated and they were not provided. An additional difficulty is with free pcr and lft tests no longer being available it is hard to make a compelling case to receive appropriate care. Inside the building there were patients who were saying ableist microaggressions against autistic people including infantilising and dehumanising language comparing adults to the mental equivalent of children because of their disability. This is a societal problem but it affected the experience here so I’m including it. I hesitate to write a negative review because the staff did the best they could under difficult circumstances - from my experience of the service we just don’t have a functional emergency department any longer.
