  1. Review titled More knowledgeable staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 August 2024

I came into hospital last week because I was struggling with what felt like astmah symptoms. The lady I seen said everything was fine however I knew it wasn't. She said my chest sounded clear and my peak flow of 300-350 is good. However when going to see a doctor to confirm this I have been told I have inflammation on my right lung and my peak flow is bad. I have been told previously that my peak Flo score is bad as well. I said to the women at the hospital I felt like I was being fobbed off and she said how am I fobbing you off everything seems normal. However missed all of the above. I think your staff need to be more educated because this was missed.

  3. Review titled Waiting area excessively hot

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julian Sandoe - Posted on 31 July 2024

This is not the first time that I have sat in the waiting area and thought that it was hot and stuffy, but today, despite wanting/needing to follow up on a significant injury, I concluded that I had to leave as the prospect of spending 3 hours in that heat was untenable. They seem to have air conditioning in the premises, but either it is faulty or turned down too low. It is clearly not good that the conditions are such that any patient feels that they cannot wait to be treated because the waiting conditions are unbearable. The place was packed, which did not help, but having to leave rather than wait because it is too hot or cold seems to be wrong. When I spoke to the receptionist and asked her to take my name off the list because I could not wait in these hot conditions, she just took my name off the list without comment.

  5. Review titled Rude receptionist

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Would not recommend to use this urgent care setting. Arrived half past 9 on a Wednesday morning with my father who suffered a nasty fall. The receptionist on this morning was very blunt, unhelpful and broadcast what is meant to be private and confidential information you give about yourself and the reason your there to the whole waiting room. Very unfriendly and found what is already a difficult experience much harder . Two hours later and still not seen - not particularly busy . Felt unable to approach the staff to ask for guidance. You can hear everyone’s full names and dates of birth in the waiting area and know what they are in for due to the shouty nature of the receptionist.

  7. Review titled Lovely initial triage then it does downhill

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I am really upset by the way I was just spoken to by one of the nursing practitioners. We were seen for my son's ear infection and advised no antibiotics were necessary - unfortunately my son always does end up needing them due to secondary asthma symptoms, and I must have looked disappointed about the inevitable Gp trip we will need by Tuesday. The nurse practitioner turned to me (not my husband, strangely) and started a rant about how she's not going to prescribe antibiotics if she doesn't see a clinical need and how she'd have to justify it in the paperwork, so I should just go to the GP as they can "do what they want". I hadn't said a word! Genuinely have never ever been spoken to so rudely in either Bath or any of the Wiltshire medical practices. Bedside manner absolutely nonexistent.

  9. Review titled Not an urgent treatment centre

Rated 2 stars out of 5

An awful trip to “UTC”. Waited for 2hours which wasnt an issue. Called in and instantly the nurse got my back up. When i told her why i was there she rudely answered” “well why are you here? This is minor injuries, we cant do anything you should have gone to a&e”. As somebody who is nervous with hospitals etc i was quite upset. I didnt want to waste peoples time and didnt know where else to go when in pain. After getting really upset, partly due to pain partly due to nervousness i went to leave and she had no empathy. She said she cant do anything if im in a state. I tried calming down and agreed to being assessed. She put my pain down to back pain which i didn't agree with. She then proceeded to tell me i wasnt listening and she was trying to give medical advice. I repeated everything she said to show i was listening. She was rude throughout, told me she had others waiting. Told me to get physio and got back to my GP. They cant do bloods/scans and its for injuries and nothing else. Despite what the website says. I left crying and in a state from basically being gaslighted and she didnt even look back! As a medical professional myself, i would never treat a patient like this. Have some empathy and maybe try and understand why your patient is that upset. Im angry at myself for saying sorry to the woman for getting upset when she was the one who caused it. Difficult to know where to go nowadays with pain when you dont want to waste the nhs time.

  10. Review titled Very poor care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anne - Posted on 03 June 2024

J took my daughter because she twisted her ankle. She still had severe swelling and pain after 2 weeks. The nurse just looked at her ankle and was told to take ibuprofen. Never had an xray or touched her ankle. Very bad care and bedside manner.
