  3. Review titled urgent blood tests

by LingfieldJim - Posted on 22 December 2022

My GP requested some urgent blood tests and the team in venepuncture and pathology were very helpful in finding a way to make it happen when the usual processes did not meet the needs of the situation. The alternative would have been a long wait in A&E. Super helpful and relieved a lot of stress. Really appreciate it.

  4. Review titled They’re like angels but are very human

    by Alfkw74 - Posted on 10 January 2023

At the end of december, after battling a nasty chest infection it was getting harder and harder to breathe. The Dr had advised calling an ambulance. My carer called 999 and paramedics came out, all my sats were very low, chest was crackling and breathing was a struggle. Upon being wheeled into East Surrey hospital my anxiety was high & I was frightened, my immune system isn’t great and I easily pick things up especially around a lot of people. A&E was jam packed with people most of whom seemed to have some level of breathing issues. Most people waiting were polite but there was the odd rude one. All the staff seemed calm efficient and very well mannered. After being assessed I was moved through to an area called The Chairs a waiting area to sit more comfortably while being monitored. As the hours ticked by, we were given pillows which helped to lean forward a little more comfortably then for those that could, drinks biscuits & sandwiches to keep us going. I could see that the most sick and vulnerable were rightly prioritised. Literally every few hours a bed was wheeled through, patient was assisted on & wheeled to allocated space. For me it was around 12 hours after arriving, a bed came through & they called my name. My husband & I were relieved to be somewhere I’d be treated & monitored. In that first 3 days, it took dozens of times to cannulate me to get the antibiotics in me. It was quite stressful and upsetting but the staff were comforting kind & patient the whole way through, this reassurance helped to keep me calm. From the paramedics to the A&E staff, the ward staff and even the porters were unbelievably caring & compassionate, extremely efficient and truly kind. I will never forget the treatment I received, when I was at my most vulnerable and scared. I and many others were well looked after, treated and reassured. They could have been rude, abrupt or perhaps impatient under such stress but not one of them was. I was & still am in awe of just how lucky I am to have received such care. These people are an absolute Godsend, a credit to themselves and their employers. Their work, their nature is absolutely priceless, I hate the thought of that being abused. I hope they will be valued and looked after as they look after us, give them fair shifts & time off so we don’t inadvertently cause them damage. They’re like angels but are very human, let’s not break these invaluable people. They may often have to work long shifts and back to back and they need care too. Our nurses staff and caregivers may feel they have little choice. I believe they do truly care they can’t just go home at a specific time if they’re still needed.

  5. Review titled East Surrey A&E

    by Med-smor - Posted on 08 December 2022

Very impressed with the care my husband received. He was advised to attend by his GP. He was triaged very quickly and sent to the Acute Ambulatory Care Unit He was seen by a nurse, a junior doctor and a consultant in a relatively short period of time. His medication was increased and he was discharged with an appointment for Thursday, where the care was equally good. Out thanks to everyone. What a great idea the Acute Ambulatory Care Unit is.

  7. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended with my 3 year old daughter who has been diagnosed with a febrile convulsion. The entire experience was exceptional. The ambulance crew were knowledgeable and kind, as were the A&E nurses and doctors. They were efficient, child focused, friendly, knowledgeable and overall the experience was excellent. I would definitely recommend the children's A&E and have huge praise for the ambulance crew. In addition it was boxing day and everyone cared for us with kindness and a smile. A truly exceptional service. Thank you

  8. Review titled Great Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 December 2022

On 6th December I had a CT Scan in the mobile unit at the East Entrance (the Red Unit with Canon printed on the side). What an excellent service they provide - the unit is pleasant to be in and the patients were seen very promptly; the staff were kind, friendly and professional. Great for patients and this unit assists the CT Unit in the main hospital by providing more appointments. Wonderful.

  9. Review titled Superb staff in paediatric a&e

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 December 2022

After all the media coverage of the pressure hospital a&e departments are under and the resulting long waiting times my heart sunk when I had to take my son into East Surrey with an ankle injury. First impressions reinforced this. It was very busy and seemed chaotic. But that was not the case. We were directed to the paediatric a&e team and were seen within about 30 minutes by two medics. They were calm, professional and thorough. Ten minutes later my son was x-rayed by an equally friendly and competent radiographer, and we were then back to paediatric a&e where we were again seen quickly and treated with a very high degree of professionalism. This experience renewed my faith in the NHS, and the very high calibre of staff in the service.

  10. Review titled Fantastic staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stefeni - Posted on 04 February 2023

When my baby was born 6 weeks early and was taken to special care within the neonatal unit I was worried about him. All the staff within the unit were amazingly helpful and made sure I knew what was happening with him at all times and gave me advise, assistance and answered all my questions. When I was discharge from the ward and my little one had to stay I was really emotional and the team comforted me and went out of thier way to look for bonding squares so I could have one and my little one could so our scents could be on them so if I was unable to get to visit he could still smell me and vice versa. Whenever I phoned for an update on how my little one was doing they went though everything from feeding to nappies and everything inbetween. This really helped me when I was sick and couldn't go and visit. Everyone who took care of my baby while he was there was just amazing and I am so thankful that they made me feel better about having to be there and the care that he was getting.
