  1. Review titled Lovely friendly staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was nervous about the operation but a nurse introduced herself and said she would be my nurse all day. Booking me in on the computer. The theatre was extremely modern and clean. A spinal injection was given with no discomfort. After surgery a cup of coffee and a sandwich was given to me. The whole day went very smoothly and would recommend the hospital to anyone.

Called 111 assessed and given an appointment an hour later. I arrived at bishop and in under 45 minutes I was in, assessed, x-rayed, diagnosed (broken foot) treated and discharged. All staff I encountered were friendly and professional. The hospital was clean and tidy. Really pleased. Thank you.

  3. Review titled Pure quality rehabilitation service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My husband was transferred to Ward 16, now Ward 6 from another hospital. The difference in the service was dramatic and totally patient focused. The objective was to ensure my husband progressed to such an extent that he was discharged to come home which is every patient’s dream. The Occupational Health team also impressed us both with their professionalism and knowledge - also being so kind and friendly. Congratulations to you all on your effectiveness and efficiency. Hopefully you are very proud. A huge thank you from us both for everything.

  6. Review titled Wonderful care from a compassionate team

I recently visited the hospital for a magnetic resonance angiogram scan, and found every single person in the radiology/x-ray department to be helpful, professional, and genuinely caring. It made such a difference to the overall experience, and I'm so grateful to the team for all that they do, and how they do it. Thank you!

I visited today to see if I could get a x-ray after I had a fall the previous Friday. From reception to x-ray department to triage and nurse practitioner the service was excellent and I can’t praise them enough. NHS doesn’t always get good reviews so credit where credit due - thank you to all who dealt with me

  8. Review titled Excellent practice and team

I was required to have a Gastroscopy on Saturday 20/07/2024 it was actually the team from Durham who performed this as Durham dept closed for refurb, however All staff from admin/nursing assistants/nurses/doctor and surgeon were all very welcoming and reassuring during this procedure that I had without sedation and they made me feel relaxed and comfortable throughout. What a great team and service. Long may we have our NHS. I always find Bishop Auckland hospital to be very clean and organised and actually pop into the restaurant even when I’m not in for any appointments 😊Thankyou

  10. Review titled Excellent, courteous, friendly service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Clare Harley - Posted on 28 June 2024

On 27 June 2024 my husband attended the Radiology Department, MRI, which I was surprised to see was not listed on the initial list of departments. Upon arrival a member of staff came to speak with him. She sat down beside Ivor and proceeded to go through the process and to check his form was completed correctly. She was superb in her manner and her clarity of speech, as he did not wear his hearing aids, was first class. As she escorted him into the MRI area explaining issues relating to his walking stick she introduced him to the MRI operator. She emphasised the timing of the process and explained in detail all that would happen. It was apparent that he was very relaxed in her presence and after a total of 15 minutes we were leaving the department. Bishop Auckland hospital continues to be the star in the crown in County Durham and long may that continue.
