  1. Review titled Disappointing amina service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 August 2024

Really disappointed this gp surgery is using the amina system, trying to get an appointment on the day after submitting a form is difficult, a telephone call for the following day was booked but that wasn't helping the problem I had, contacted the surgery spoke to a receptionist who said she had reviewed by form and booked the call in with the doctor for the following day. I was not happy with this and she would not budge and wasn't a clinician. I called 111 who said I needed to be seen within 2 hours and had to call back again then got put on a phone list for 111. I then received a text from a doctor for antibiotics. The old system was so much better. I found it frustrating. Not all surgeries in Woodley are using amina system!

  2. Review titled Shockingly bad, bordering on medically negligent

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 July 2024

I have been registered here for nearly 2 years, and I can say without any hesitation that it is the worst GP practice I have ever been registered with. It has been an up hill battle to get appointments by phone, with usually very long wait times, so I resorted to requesting appointments via the website. This is fine, but you get no indication of your appointment time -- a doctor just rings you without notice days/weeks later when you're at work or driving and can't speak. On one (rare) occasion where was able to request a (very wide) appointment window for a telephone consultation, I took a whole morning off work to await the call which never came. Rescheduled for the following morning after an hour long wait on the phone, and demanded a specific time as I couldn't take another whole morning off work. Again, no call, so I had to go to the surgery in person and demand the doctor see me or call (which to be fair, she promptly did). I have had repeat prescription requests declined for no reason, thus forcing me to go without medication that has unpleasant side effects from sudden withdrawal, a rude and arrogant reply from one of the GPs when I requested a sick note for being off work with Covid for longer than the maximum self-certification period and have all but given up on ever being able to see a GP in person. Today's experience is the last straw. I went onto the website (not having the time to wait in a queue on the phone for an hour) expecting to be able to make an appointment for symptoms which are potentially serious, only to find that they have implemented a new system called 'Anima'. It wouldn't let me make an appointment, so I had to call anyway, and I was informed that the system won't let me book an appointment if there are no allocations remaining. I asked why I couldn't just make the appointment for a week or two weeks time as I was already on the phone, but I was told I must log back onto Anima the next day. I was asked what the problem was, but I refused, explaining that I wished to explain the personally sensitive problem to the doctor and not to a receptionist with no medical training.

    Review titled Woodley Practice

    Replied on 04 July 2024

Good morning, Thank you for your feedback. We have been using Anima since March 2024. Since March we have greatly seen our wait times on the phone decrease. I am sorry that you have found your experience to be less than your expectation and would invite you to email in to woodley.surgery@nhs.net and address your email for my attention, James Cook. I will then be able to look into the individual issues you mention. It is of more help to inform the Care Navigation team of your issue so that they can make sure you are seeing the right clinician when needing an appointment. They are not there to diagnose you, but rather for the clinicians benefit to make sure that no ones time is wasted. I look forward to receiving your email. Kind Regards James Cook Practice Manager

  3. Review titled It's about Anima website

Rated 4 stars out of 5

How NHS has decided to run Anima website for GPs and patients is not helpful. My GP centre is most of the time fully booked. GPs on 111 emergency are very attentive but some issues need to be seen by a doctor. Requesting a simple query on Anima link is not convenient and it's only doable when GP surgery has space for appointments. Wasting time to go back and check another day. Why it can't be available to send a request any time and then it's acceptable to receive appointments when it's available by GP. The way Anima is running is not convenient for patients.

  4. Review titled Very good practice

by Margaret Morgan - Posted on 14 February 2024

We had an issue with a repeat prescription, having gone to collect, found was out of stock. This medication is ongoing and must be taken twice daily without stopping. I was really worried as the last of our supply had been used. I rang the surgery a number of times trying to sort it out . I can only say, the receptionists (different ones each time) were all courteous, polite and did their utmost to help, without any irritation at my persistence. The surgery pharmacist was equally obliging and did her best to help. By the evening, we had spoken with a doctor, who prescribed an alternative, available dose and we were able to collect it that evening. As it was an emergency supply I rang back the next day to speak with a doctor about further supplies. Again, courteous and helpful, I was given a telephone appt. The doctor rang back, discussed the drug and the doses and a plan moving forward. Really pleased with the care we recieved.

  5. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ms Chris Gothard - Posted on 09 May 2023

-Didn't wait long to get through to reception - helpful to have queue countdown - receptionist efficient, empathic, kind - prompt GP phone consultation - face to face appointment within a few hours - seen before my appointment time - GP was excellent - her interpersonal skills, knowledge, understanding, reassurance, examination - told to call again if still worried/not getting better. At a time of great pressure and stress on NHS, this is exceptional service.

My mother recently had a stroke had to call to request doc follow up appointment as not booked from hospital notes. Doc then said would make another appointment for 2 weeks later none made and now cant get one for another 2 weeks! Only seem to do calls on a wed pills missed off prescription and urgent request for missing pills took 4 days. Doc says all the right things but no action taken no confidence or trust that things will happen sadly.

  7. Review titled Rude Unhelpful Receptionists

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Deborah - Posted on 27 February 2023

I waited over 10 minutes this morning for the receptionist to deal with the person in front of me so I politely said “excuse me please, is there anyone else who can help me “ she scowled at me and said No. when it was my turn I requested a home visit for my husband, she kept asking me what’s happened? My husband is lying in a hospital bed at home with a life limiting illness and I told her that he looks very poorly. Once again she said “what’s happened “ I tried to explain to her that nothing has happened, he just looks very unwell. She then turned to another member of staff and told her that I’ve been really rude. If you’re looking for a practice that has receptionists who have a little compassion steer well clear of this place. I left there feeling very upset as my poor husband looks so ill and all I wanted was to request a home visit but it was more like the Spanish Inquisition, I hope that the receptionist who dealt with me this morning finds another job that she’s more suited to.

  8. Review titled A very uncaring surgery

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 November 2022

My husband was let down badly by this surgery yesterday which resulted in him suffering a nasty fall on to concrete. I was promised a call back 3 times but nobody bothered. I then called in at the surgery to find out why no one would help or call me and was assured that the practice manager would look into this and call me the next day. Needless to say, nobody bothered to call me again. I wouldn’t recommend this surgery to my worst enemy. They couldn’t care less about their vulnerable patients.
