  1. Review titled Excellent service!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Samantha Phillips - Posted on 21 May 2024

This surgery has always been good which is a miracle find theses days. Unfortunately in the past I found certain female members of my the reception team really let the surgery down. Today was completely different to my last interaction as I had a professional and polite (uninterrupted ) telephone conversation with the female receptionist and was offered a on the day appointment. Healthcare practitioner j o is brilliant! She really listens, puts you at ease and makes you feel like you’re in good hands. She looks like she enjoys the job too which is incredible these days! Thanks guys x

I have had some recent health problems regarding blood in a stool then another instance where I had black tar like stools and I wanted to say “Thank You” This is to the reception staff , the people on the phone, the Drs and not forgetting the nurses . They all have been supportive while i have had these health issues. Thank you all .

  3. Review titled Unbelievable a absolute joke

Rated 1 star out of 5

I wouldn't recommend this surgery to anyone the stuff are rude especially the receptionists that seem to think they can give you a medical Diagnosis over the phone or tell you that they don't feel you need to be seen. If you can get thought to get in the call queue for an appointment after listening to a 10 minute message before and after Selecting the option you need once all appointments are full even if you been on the phone since 8.30am the line cuts out. Some of the doctors are very rude and have nothing but a poor attitude, I understand the NHS in under huge stress but having 1 surgery to cover a whole area is just Ridiculous and they are still continuing to take on more and more patients when they haven't got the resources to accommodate the ones they've already had on their books. Worst surgery going

  4. Review titled Very helpful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ms Charlotte Stevens - Posted on 28 April 2023

I called at 8.30 today, only 4 people ahead of me in queue so answered very quickly and was given appt at 10.10 face to face and only had a short wait. GP was lovely, took her time to listen and understand, asked if I wanted chaperone for examination and has referred me on to an appropriate service. All round positive experience especially as we all know how busy they are and she made me feel it was OK to request an appt for my chronic but not major condition. Reception staff also polite and efficient. Thanks!

  5. Review titled Such stress to get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Ms Robertson - Posted on 01 March 2023

I requested an urgent appointment at 8.30am was told all appointment’s were gone. My daughter finally managed to get an appointment for me after complaining to practice manager. I could not fault the Doctor she was amazing but reception are extremely unhelpful and uncaring. Waited 3 days for certificate and was told it would be issued today only to find out at lunch time the doctor is not on duty so must wait another day. Such stress on top of illness.

  6. Review titled A complete joke

Rated 1 star out of 5

It's got to the point where I don't believe any GPs actually work here. The amount of hoops you have to go through to actually get to speak to the receptionist. Appointments are always full for the day, even if you call at 08:30:00 precisely... assuming the call doesn't mysteriously cut off. Fobbed off yet again with a video call through the Livi app. If is assessed I will actually need to see a GP face to face I will need to go through this farcical process again. Livi(d)

Dear patient Thank you for posting your feedback. I can assure you that we usually have between 4 and 6 GPs working on each day working on different aspects of the clinical work we have each day. Appointments represent one area of this demand. Currently we do have 3 GP vacancies and we are finding it difficult to recruit GPs to our practice due to its location. We have interviewed a number of prospective candidates who like the practice and the team, but find its location unattractive. Our Reception Team do ask patients the nature of their call and how we can help them as it may be that they do not need to speak or see a GP. Due to our vacancies we are using other GP resources to help patients and LIVI is one way we can help patients. Since you remain anonymous I can’t address your concerns directly and please contact us if you would like to discuss your points further. Regards Practice Manager

  7. Review titled Unprofessional and unwelcoming

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 January 2023

Such a terrible practice. I appreciate that the practice is over run being the only one in Woodingdean but that doesn’t excuse rude and unhelpful staff. So difficult to get an appointment, which puts you off sorting problems because you know it will take several days of trying before you are able to secure an appointment. Reception are rude. Today i witnessed a man being asked in front of the whole waiting room if his appointment was for his infected toe or about his diabetes. No wonder the poor man looked embarrassed. I wasn’t aware that reception staff were now qualified to discuss someone’s private medical issues. Particularly in front of a room full of people. So I have no confidence in patient confidentiality at this practice.

  8. Review titled Great practice but

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by John Richard Hope - Posted on 07 May 2023

The staff, doctors and nurses are all very kind and helpful but my complaint is the booking system. when phoning for an appointment at 8.30 on the dot there is always a queue of dozens of people, you either get cut off or when it is your turn all the appointments are taken for the day. I work and I find it difficult to hang on to the phone for any length of time. There must be a way of booking online to see what day and times are available, I know that in an emergency there may not be anything available on the day so the A and E may be the only way to be seen. If paitients who are ok with online booking can do this it would leave the telephone system for patients who are not so confident online.

Dear Mr Hope Thank you for spending time giving us feedback and I am sorry that you have had difficulty booking an appointment recently. The current system was a response to feedback from patients including our Patient Participation Group (PPG) as previously we had a staggered process. Feedback was to open our appointments at the start at the day. Ongoing feedback is always appreciated and you may would like to consider joining our PPG to help us with ongoing improvements. In addition, it is also helpful for patients to contact us as earlier as possible on the day so we can clinically triage those patients needing urgent care first. We review our appointment system on a regularly basis with our (PPG) and we welcome any suggestions for improvements to help patients. We have tried different systems over a number of years and we are likely to increase the number of online pre-bookable appointments or our clinical team. At present we offer this for some nurse appointments. There has been a large increase in demand for GP appointments nationally and we have a limited capacity. When we reach we signpost patients to alternative NHS resources. In order to appropriately manage the capacity we ask patient to contact us to speak to a member of staff. You would be more than welcome to join our PPG. We meet every 3 months usually at the Practice, however, during the pandemic we are meeting via Zoom. Please let us know if any time you would like to join and we will send you the details. Thanks again for your feedback Regards Practice Manager
