Review titled Patient fobbing
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Gareth cadwaladr - Posted on 10 May 2024
I Contacted the receptionist over the phone regarding my problem at the moment on Wednesday morning. it’s now Friday and im without antibiotics still trying to be seen to make sure I get the correct antibiotics. I’m no health care professional so going off my advice on to which antibiotics I need is not making sure I definitely get the right antibiotics. I’m deeply upset that I’ve even come into the gp practice trying to be quickly seen so this can be rectified properly. The DR isn’t taking me seriously enough and I’m sat in extreme pain in the back of my throat and with pain around my ribs every time I’m breathing with sudden electric brain zaps which is causing electric shocks throughout my body . Potentially this could have been seen to and I could have been treated a lot better than I clearly have. I’m very upset and still fighting infection without medication. I just want to be seen quickly so I’m put in the right place with medication. I’ve never had a problem before now I have and I’m distressed and alarmed. I want my medical records taken from Wincanton gp if this continues and my daughters aswell. Your sincerely Gateth Rhys Cadwaladr

Review titled Rude receptionist.
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Emily - Posted on 08 May 2024
Whilst waiting to be checked in for my appointment, a lady in front of me was asking to speak to the doctor who had called her this morning. The receptionist asked what it was regarding, and the lady said that she did not feel comfortable explaining the problem and that the doctor was aware of what was going on. The receptionist then said 'just tell me what the problem is'. The lady said again she was not comfortable explaining anything in the reception area. The receptionist went to speak to the doctor and came out with a urine sample pot, speaking very loudly, borderline shouting that she needed the return with the sample. The lady seemed very distressed and said she had not slept the last few nights because of the issue she was dealing with. When the lady left, 2 receptionists (one with glasses), were talking very negatively about this lady calling her a 'cow'. I was sat in the waiting room and could clearly hear what they were saying. There is a sign behind reception saying along the lines of 'you can speak in private, just ask a member of staff'. This was not encouraged at all, and the recpetionist had a very bad tone with the elderly woman she was dealing with. From sitting in reception, i could clearly make out everything that was being said which was highly innapropriate. The receptionists should be much more understanding towards patients and know that they do not have to disclose any medical problems with them if they do not wish to.

Review titled Impossible to get help
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 May 2024
Tried repeatedly to get help today and failed. They said they would call back but didn't. I had to send messages, but nobody read them. I do not recommend this surgery, whoever is on the message service can't be bothered to read or respond to patient concerns. I am in immense pain and received no help.

Review titled Awful experience / missing blood test !!
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 23 February 2024
I had blood tests completed, the nurse was lovely and had no issues in this appointment. The majority of my tests came back quickly and was discussed/seen in my nhs app. I was waiting for a very specific blood test to come back which I was told may take a bit longer, a few weeks later I still had not heard anything, I did an ask my gp question to be told to just wait, another week later, I rang the health centre and spoke to a woman in the enquiries department, when asking her if there was any indication on where my test results where she got very rude with me, she told me she was going to ring the lab and find out, not even 1 minute later she had called me back and told me to ring next week as they will be back then. (All of this I now know to be a lie) I rang back exactly 1 week following that phone call (4 weeks after my blood test now) as they were still not back, to be told again by another woman that she could not give me any indication on how long it would be and to ring back again next week… after doing some thorough digging in my nhs app I found a scanned document which was the blood test results I had been waiting for for almost 1 month! They had been stamped by a doctor at least 2 weeks prior to my original enquiry and still not registered into my nhs app results, nor did anyone in the team realise that this was actually in my notes the whole time. I was spoken to extremely rudely over the phone, I was lied to, the whole experience was very stressful for me and all I wanted was some help, which I didn’t get from anyone during this month period. It was only upon accident I found some results myself. I can honestly say I have lost all trust in this practice… thank god my results weren’t life threatening because that could’ve caused serious issues for someone else. Extremely unhappy with the service I have received.

Review titled Waste of time

If you call them for a appointment all they are interested in is getting you to use 'askmyGP' but you can only use it between certain times, if out of these times, it states on they're website (If you need to speak to the practice about an issue after these times, please call the surgery.) I did and all they were interested in was me using askmyGP, so I now have to wait until the next day and between the hours they say but even after that It still might take 2 days for them to contact me before I can get my pain, not looked at but to speak to someone over the phone, What a joke.

Review titled Dreadful Practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 September 2024
Lack of empathy and duty of care! When you call needing further help and are told by the receptionist via the doctor that the next appointment is over 5 weeks away, and that you are not classed as urgent despite being in screaming agony at times and barely getting 3 hours sleep a night for months, and you have already been to the oasis and pain management clinic (that was over 6 years ago for a slightly different diagnosis) and you try to explain this to the receptionist who puts a wall up, just wants to book said 5 week away appointment and doesn’t appear to want to go back to the doctor with this further information. I can honestly sympathise with those that have had enough of their pain, and don’t want to live anymore! Update - After emailing you with my complaint 18 months ago which I know you have received as your receptionist told me…. You haven’t bothered to respond to it. Due to your utterly appalling care I ended up going privately. Within 1 hour of crawling through their door I was in an MRI scanner, diagnosis the next day and a month later out for the count in their theatre. 90% pain free, full 8 hours sleep a night. Definitely worth the £3500 you cost me. They were pretty shocked at your lack of care too. Guess it wasn’t in my head after all!

Review titled Fantastic practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lauren Nabil - Posted on 18 March 2023
I have been dealing with various health professionals for over 1 year now with respect to an ongoing health condition (Long Covid). I moved to the Wincanton area in late 2022, and I am so relieved as Wincanton Health Centre are the first nhs service to treat me kindly and take me seriously. I am so shocked to read negative reviews about Wincanton Health Centre as I have received nothing but fantastic quality of care since transferring to the practice.

Review titled Consistent and excellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have been with this surgery for nearly ten years and have always found the staff - clinical and reception - to be brilliant. I have experience of speaking to surgeries across the county on a daily basis and the wait times to speak to someone at Wincanton are amazing in comparison. They really have got this right, along with the responsiveness of clinicians when you are using the app. I’m readily offered face to face appointments. The surgery is clean and well organised. I feel lucky to be registered to this practice. Keep doing what you’re doing please!
