Review titled Good luck getting an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Steve - Posted on 31 May 2023
After seeing the nurse fairly regularly, approx once a year, to get my ears syringed, they’ve now told me, I must first see a doctor to confirm I don’t have an ear infection before I can make an appointment with the nurse and this is the new process. After trying for over an hour to get an appointment and the initial ‘were too busy, call back later’ message, I’m now in the queue… please tell me how the doctor will see if I have an infection, if he can’t see anything due to the build up of wax?… which is why I’m trying to get them syringed in the first place! I suspect the practice gets paid by the number of people on its books, rather than how many patients they actually see or help. After finally getting through and speaking to someone, their first ‘routine’ appointment is in about a month!, if I need to see someone sooner, they said to call again tomorrow and go through the whole stupid rigmarole again!!

Review titled No change then

I recently tried to make an appointment, it took 40 minutes to even get in the queue to speak to a receptionist then a further 45 minutes to be answered. Why does it take 45 minutes to be answered when you are 5th in the queue?. when I finally spoke to the receptionist she politely told there were no appointments available and to call 111 or go to A + E, its no wonder our emergency departments are over run. Maybe we should all cut out the middle man and go directly to 111 but that maybe the practices intention. please do not respond and tell me to contact the practice manager as the online reviews regarding this problem have been going on for many months and clearly nothing has been achieved to resolve the problem.

Review titled Unacceptable Not the practice it used to be

Good Morning I have been trying to get an appointment to speak to a doctor for over a week I was taken poorly 06/04/23 with a sore throat that gradually got worse so bad the only thing I could consume was really cold milk. The back of my throat was so sore and infected and had closed and swollen on one side and my glands on my neck were swollen. I suspect Tonsilitis I called the surgery and it said too many calls try later. Then try again and be left on hold 55 mins and still at 5 before me starting at 7 I eventually hung up as it wasnt getting anywhere near the call being answered. I called again several times but was still unable to get through. I called again yesterday 18/04 and again it said to call back later. I eventually got through at 12.30 only to be told to call back at 8 am in the morning as there were no doctor calls available or I could have an appointment May 7th !! I called back this morning 7.59 it said closed. 30 seconds later too busy try later. Got through at 8.10 and was waiting until 8.35 on hold 5th in line. It was eventually answered and I explained how poorly I had been but as I had been off for over 7 days I would need a fit Certificate only to be told it wasnt an emergency now and to call back tomorrow! I am disgusted and I am unable to return to work until I have a fit Certificate. I am still unwell but luckily I took care of my illness with bed rest etc I have Fibromyalgia and the stress of being treated like this hasnt made it easy for me. I am so upset. Can you please tell how I go about getting this sorted urgently please.

I note that changes to appointments have been made without informing patients. How can a patient now make a future appointment.

Nurse appointment for blood test at 07.30 (confirmed by text) - surgery closed on arrival! Opened at 8am. Appointment fulfilled at 09.00. How can you book appointments when the surgery isn’t even open. Inefficient administration processes.

Review titled Stop kidding yourselves. It's embarrassing.
Rated 1 star out of 5

Took my 10 month old for the third time in two weeks after basically being told to forget about her infection for us to then take her to the hospital with a pretty serious infection. They said a GP service could've resolved this if it was treated early enough. That's a joke. That's serious and it's dangerous. Never mind trying to get an appointment for myself, standing in line from 8am while also trying to get through on the phone. "We're too busy to answer your call, try again later" to then be told - in person - there's no appointments available, I was the third person in the queue! Your an increasingly bad danger to health and need serious measures bringing in to make changes.

Review titled Don’t phone go in person if possible
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 January 2023
The gps, nurses and receptionists all give a decent service however the phone lines are terrible. I’m the next of kin for a 93 yr old lady and I live in a different county. Therefore the days I visit if I need to communicate with the practice team I have to go in person. I’m on hold for a least 3/4 of an hour and sometimes the line goes died before I speak to someone. Please please please sort your telephone lines out. It’s so frustrating and then patients become annoyed.

Review titled Just tell you to ring 111
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 January 2023
This practice are a joke! I’ve got a two year old daughter and I’m pregnant and i rarely ever call but when I do like today with a migraine - told to ring 111 instantly. They have done this the last two times I’ve called and when I do ring 111 I manage to get a miraculous appointment at Whyburn. What sort of care is this for patients who are unwell they’ve got to ring 111 and be on the phone for half an hour only for them to make the appointment anyway? It’s disgusting I’m so sick of it and feel so unsafe being under this practice pregnant to be honest. Awful. Wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole but I’m unsure where else there is to go
