Review titled Frustrating
Rated 1 star out of 5

I actually work at a GP practice so I completely understand and empathise with how overrun NHS practices are. That said, this place is beyond frustrating. Getting an appointment is near impossible. Today I called at 8 on the dot and was 7th in the queue, after waiting on hold for 20 minutes I was told that there were no appointments available. Simply cannot understand how there were only (supposedly) 6 appointments available today? Or if this is not the case, why are they taking appointments over the desk when I have been repeatedly told that this is not allowed. Also, why have it taken 20 minutes to take 6 calls? There are no prebookable appointments available at all which means you have no option but to call on the day - and so the cycle repeats. I used to be able to get an appointment here no problem, I don’t have a clue what has happened in the last 2 years.

Good morning, You are correct, we don't give emergency appointments over the phone but we can book routine appointments in advance. In the case of this morning could you email the practice manager on selicb.whitehousesurgery@nhs.net so that I can get some more information.

Review titled Impossible to get an appointment

I have a baby less than 1 year old. You can't ring up for appointments any more I was told today. You have to do e consults and they take days to respond. I'm not sure how you get any same day medical care at this practice. It's always go to A & E or call 111

Review titled Almost impossible to make an appointment
Rated 1 star out of 5

I am fully aware of the pressure that the NHS is under and do not wish to bother them with minor, temporary complaints. However, I am now in my sixties and suffer from two co-morbidities which will probably shorten my life. I have not seen my GP for two years, nor have I had what was supposed to be an annual blood test in that time. My medication should have been reviewed almost a year ago, but that hasn't happened, either and I need to make an appointment to discuss these matters, along with a couple of persistent ailments, which I believe may be related to my pre-existing medical condition. The reception at this practice refuse point blank, to allow me to make an appointment over the 'phone or in person, insisting that I can only do so online; but when I try to do that, I get a message on the screen saying that no online bookings are available. When I pointed this out, I was told that appointments are limited in number and I must try first thing in the morning, at a time when I am normally driving to work. When I complain that this is unacceptable, I am told that, "it's just the new system and that's the way it works." There are no exceptions, no alternatives and no compassion. I feel like I am being made to enter a lottery, in order to get a simple appointment with a GP - a situation which is causing me stress and anxiety, as I apparently have no recourse.

Review titled Dreadful service
Rated 1 star out of 5

I find it harder to get an appointment with my GP than with the Pope. My family and I have constantly tried to get an emergency appointment with a doctor, today, yet again, we got through to the surgery at 2.00 clock to be told all the appointments have been taken, how can this happen? We were advised to e-consult but the last time we did this the advice we were given was to call the surgery. I feel that this surgery is doing its utmost to push patients to A & E rather than deal with the problem themselves, we never had this issue before Covid so why is it so difficult now? I used to rave about how good the surgery was and how everybody within the practice was working so hard for the patients but I cannot honestly say I feel this way now. I have left my name on this review which will probably mean that I will get struck off of the patient list but unless we make our feelings known then nothing is ever going to change.
