  1. Review titled Brilliant service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I cannot fault the service I have received from both surgeries in recent weeks. I’ve been able to get an appointment quickly using the Anima online system and have felt seen and heard by the practitioners that I’ve had my appointments with.

  3. Review titled Awful service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Staff have been extremely rude and act as though the patients request is a hardship. Lack of empathy and urgency, I think they need to review the NHS values. I’m also a health care professional and I cannot believe the attitude of your reception staff. It is absolutely disgusting. On 2 occasions now, my now 9 month old daughter has been left without medication due to incorrect dosages/ lack of availability, and the lack of empathy and urgency shown to help resolve the situation was non- existent. If anything, your staff appeared as if it was a nuesence to deal with, which left me infuriated. I can honestly say, there is only one bloke on that reception desk who has always made my experience pleasant and demonstrates the values of the NHS…he even offered to help carry my buggy when I was using your delapre location (as you don’t have a lift)… when the other receptionist was just sat there watching me struggle. You need more people like him.

  4. Review titled dreadful customer service

Waiting 50 minutes minimum on all telephone calls, (4 in total) to book an telephone call for a patient in a care home. Worst case scenario for non-answering of calls was when I was with paramedics who had been called out , and the also had to wait in this queue!

Dear patient, Thank you very much for your feedback. We are aware that telephone waiting times are high at the moment, as is the demand for our services. EMAS paramedics have access to bypass numbers so they are not held in queues, so I am not sure why the paramedic did not use this, or used our emergency option instead. If they had done this and explained they were with a patient, then the case would have been handled by the duty doctor. We are also in the process of updating our telephone system, so call backs are offered to save patients waiting on the telephone.

  6. Review titled Nobody answers the phones

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 February 2023

I called the surgery. I spent 1 hour 20 minutes listening to a pre recorded message repeatedly informing me they they were sorry for the wait and they were aware I was waiting and would get to me a soon as possible. In the end I just hung up. They clearly weren't aware I was waiting or didn't care, otherwise they would have answered the phone. Just one more example of our doctor's distancing themselves from their patients. If our doctors want to provide an internet / call center level of service, perhaps we can save tax payer money by introducing a two tier degree. A one year distance learning diploma for those planning to become general practitioners, and keep the five year degree for those planning to become hospital doctors. This cannot all be down to Government funding. There is a real problem with the quality of our general practitioners and their attitude to service.

We are sorry to hear you had a poor experience at the surgery, and that you had a long waiting time. Your opinion that doctors are distancing themselves from their patients could not be further from the truth! We are using other methods of consulting in an effort to create more capacity, as face to face appointments are not always necessary and are time consuming. Just for clarity, it takes between nine and ten years to train a general practitioner; longer than any hospital doctor.

  7. Review titled Worst of the worst

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 February 2023

Firstly I hate having to call this surgery. They never answer the phones. Like never! Over an hour for the phone to be picked up is a joke. I can't accept the tired excuse of being short staffed, especially when you read other reviews that go back some time saying exactly the same thing so it's not just me. Secondly, I had blood tests that required a GP appointment but was told there was nothing available for over 6 weeks. Seriously never know anything like it. So my advice to anyone reading this - if you can't get through, use the emergency option - they pick that up in less than a minute, however my main piece of advice would be find another GP Practice as I will be doing - this has got to be the lowest ranked place in the uk.

We are sorry to hear you had a poor experience at the surgery. It is very difficult to reply to anonymous posts with anything meaningful. Staff recruitment has been an issue for some time, as has sickness as Covid 19 has not gone away! With regards blood test appointments, we are not adequately funded for this service, therefore we offer a very limited service on a first come first served basis. All other blood tests are carried out at NGH. Advising people to use the emergency option on the telephone is reckless and dangerous. Using this option unnecessarily might prevent somebody with a life threatening problem from seeking advice; plus we only redirect non-urgent callers back to the original queue.

  8. Review titled Refused to examine as no time.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Maisie - Posted on 26 March 2024

Had few things wrong.told Dr couldn't do three things in ten mins off handedly .told need another app. Given one in month time. As not examined was emergency admission to hospital and urgent operation next day. Drs tapping watches saying your times up mid sentence. Not very caring .twice now I have been put in hospital due to rushing and wrong medication given .not read notes. Was only matter of time I know..I had left this surgery and am finally getting some care .and no watch tapping time restrictions. How rude is that though. More interested in time keeping than patients sadly.

We are sorry to hear you had a poor experience at the surgery. It is advertised that one appointment should be made for each separate medical issue; or you can request a longer appointment if you know you want to discuss more than one problem. Without the opportunity to substantiate the claims you have made, we cannot investigate to see if there is anything we could have done differently.

  9. Review titled Shocking

Rated 1 star out of 5

Rude receptionist. Never leave feeling satisfied. Always feel like I am a hinderednce. I contact the doctors when it's only ever an emergency but I am getting to the point of not bothering. I do have to say there is one nurse who I have spoken to and she is lovely and does her best to help. You will be very lucky if u get to speak to her. Infact she has probably left now

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. None of our receptionist intend to be rude, but if that’s how you perceived their behaviour I apologise. You should have asked to speak to their supervisor at the time, so it could be addressed immediately. General Practice is not funded to provide an emergency service, so if, as stated you had an emergency, then NHS 111 or 999 would have been the correct service to contact. We have several excellent nurses, so it is difficult to identify which one you have singled out for praise, but thank you very much regardless.
