  1. Review titled Good practice if you can get past initial barriers

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Andy S - Posted on 06 September 2024

It's a great GP - fantastic level of care, the doctors and nurses were attentive and kind and it's clean. Only downside of the experience was a problem that has been witnessed before several times - the primary phone receptionist is consistently unpleasant to deal with. This is something that has been noted by other patients as well.

Dear Andy, Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you feel we offer a good service. With regards to your experience with reception we have a team of 13 staff who take calls and advise patients at the reception desk, all of whom follow guidelines laid down by the GP Partners as to what they should ask patients in order to signpost them to the most appropriate service for their need. I am sorry to hear that you feel the member of reception staff that you dealt with was unpleasant. We record all phone calls, so if you are happy to contact one of the reception managers with your full name and details of when you contacted us they can listen to the phone call and then investigate further. Unfortunately without any more details we will be unable to do this. You can email the reception supervisors at nencicb-ng.thewhickhampractice@nhs.net. If you include your full name, date of birth, the day and time you phoned the practice, and the phone number you called from we can then investigate this further.

  2. Review titled Disappointed.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 May 2024

I was seen recently for a long term condition review. The hca that I saw was quite insensitive and displayed little empathy. She said that I had told her too much about my serious long term health conditions and said that I sounded like I had “lots of problems”, as if I was a complete burden. I was given the impression that she really didn’t want to know and didn’t care. Furthermore she commented that “I just needed to be more positive”.This is extremely patronising for people who have long term chronic conditions, if only it was that easy!!. What is the point of inviting people in for long term reviews if it is merely a box ticking exercise and staff are disinterested? I would have been better off (and much less demoralised) if I had just been sent forms to fill in myself. I tried to speak to the practice manager before leaving this review but nobody called me back. I’ve been left feeling very upset by the whole experience and probably won’t attend next years review as I see little point.

  3. Review titled Productive consultation

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sean Charlton - Posted on 22 March 2024

During March 2024 I had some concerns following a recent surgery. It took 40 minutes to get through in the phone but that is to be expected on a Monday morning. Regardless, they were able to get me in for a face to face appointment at around 10am the same day. I was seen on time. The consultation was swift and productive. I felt listened to and my concerns were resolved. Please pass on my thanks to the GP who I saw (unable to add names to this review, it was Dr D).

  4. Review titled Excellent efficient care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Peter - Posted on 01 March 2024

I called reception this week about an illness. The receptionist was very professional and I was seen within two hours by the paramedic, who was very kind and attentive. I had a xray at Blaydon the next morning, the Dr sent me the results and a clear treatment plan first thing next day and I started treatment the same morning. I couldn’t ask for a more caring and efficient service from my medical practice. Thank you.

  5. Review titled Awful experience!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 January 2024

What an awful experience I have recently had at this practice. I saw a male doctor whose attitude was absolutely appalling and I am now considering moving to another practice even though I have been with this one for years! There was just no need to take their bad day out on me. Just awful

  6. Review titled Felt listen to and understood

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Adele - Posted on 05 December 2023

Had to visit the practice on two occasions in the last two weeks The receptionists on both occasions were really compassionate, listened to my concerns and gave me an appointment to see the Doctor on that day. Both GP’s I saw, one last week and one this week: really made me feel valued and listened to. They both came across as very caring and kind and as a result I felt heard . Thank you for your advice and support it is really appreciated I returned to the practice today to have some bloods done and was greeted with a lovely smiling friendly nurse , a welcoming brightness when you’re struggling thank you A great service from each and everyone of you , thank you , I would highly recommend this practice to others

  7. Review titled Poor Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Alan Thompson - Posted on 12 October 2023

I attended the surgery with a friend who has dementia...I dropped him at the door whilst I parked my car.. When I got into the practice I asked my friend If he had registered..He could not remember.. When I asked the reception I was informed that due to patient confidentiality she could not tell... When I explained the situation she would still not tell..I understand where she was coming from but is this not taking things to extreme... When I got my friend to attend to the issue I found out that he had not registered... Where does common sense come into play.. After he was seen today he was asked to pick up a urine sample bottle... There was no one on reception.. When she eventually came out she totally ignored the fact that three patients were waiting and she sat down at the computer. After some minutes she eventually look up and attended to my friend..No patient consideration whatsoever...

  8. Review titled Great Experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alan Goulbourn - Posted on 13 September 2023

Booked for a Covid jab easily through the receptionist for my wife and I and attended today. Reception were very friendly and passed us through to the waiting area. We were seen by the doctor quickly and once again was very friendly and explained all about the vaccine we were due to receive. The vaccination was completed with no problems and painless. All in all a very easy and efficient experience.

  9. Review titled Great Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Frank McCoy - Posted on 17 July 2023

I find the GPS and nurses I have dealt with approachable, willing to listen and sympathetic. I have found receptionists helpful and realise some of the problems practices face these days resulting in the difficulty in getting an appointment with a GP.
