Review titled No appointments even for Infants
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Syed - Posted on 30 October 2024
Everyone in England knows if you want same day appointment with your GP then you have to call 8am in the morning. It is just a general non written practice. But today I called to get appointment for my 11 Months old Infant kid and they refused to give me appointment. As we have already gone through all the suggested days before going to see the GP using Calpol, panadol, etc. They suggested me to take him to Widnes god knows how many miles away and how much time in rush hour then on my persistence they suggested me to get E-consultation from website. Keeping in mind I haven’t been given website link clearly. Once you get to Professional Medical staff like Doctor or Nurse they are very nice and caring but it is always getting to them is one of the major hurdle. Receptionist was very sympathising and saying poor kid etc but couldn’t give us appointment. There are sometimes issue where you don’t want to go to emergency and just want to get GP’s consultation and supporting advice for kids health but it’s very unfortunate that we can’t get appointment when needed. Then general public practice is to tell a lie and tell receptionist about temperature/fever then they give appointment but obviously why would we lie about something if kid doesn’t have. If NHS has to treat minor issues with E-consultation then why bringing so many doctors from overseas just make another call centre or E-consultation center overseas and save taxpayers money. Apparently, government took £25k for health services and we can’t even get treated for infant’s cough. We haven’t been managed to register with dentist yet. Its all so annoying and pathetically managed that I think it was much better in our country for people like us with some resources. Blame goes on system not on surgery or people at reception as they’re all doing just a job but mismanaged system or patients overload don’t let them book an appointment or maybe it was just a discretion of person taking a call. I don’t know.

Review titled Effective practice

An extremely well organised Medical Centre. From my most recent appointment to my ongoing dealings with WMC, I have found all of the staff from the Receptionists to the Medical Practitioners to be friendly, caring and most efficient in their work.

Review titled Great practice

I use the HealthyYou app daily to monitor my blood pressure. My blood pressure over a period of 8 days was high and the app suggested that I seek advice from a medical professional. I called into the practice in the morning and was given an appointment withthe nurse that afternoon. My blood pressure was measured and it was indeed high. I already take a low dosage of Ramipril and this was increased. I was asked to book a renal function blood test for 2-3 weeks later. The prescription was collected from my pharmacy later that afternoon. Such excellent professionalism. I've been registered here for over 30 years and have always found them to be superb.

I phoned this morning for my son who has had a lengthy cough. Receptionist on the phone was incredibly helpful, he did everything he could to arrange an appointment so had a telephone appointment for the afternoon. GP contacted me, arranged to see my son to check his chest even though she already had a busy clinic and prescribed the necessary medication. Fabulous service. Thank you

Review titled Disappointed
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Ashley Baren - Posted on 12 December 2023
The practice wasn’t even open when I turned up for my 8.00am appointment. When it did open, shortly after 8 the computers weren’t booted up so people had to wait to make appointments. Surely it would make for smoother running if everything was ready for opening time! Front of house reception rudeness personified. And a software system that “cannot search by Surname”- surely not!! What year did they install it!! Or is it a training issue. It wasn’t just me that was spoken to in a manner bereft of manners, pretty much everyone I witnessed had the same treatment.

Review titled Excellent clinicians, inadequate capacity, woeful admin,
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I have been a patient here for over 20 years. The front line medical staff are excellent and you can book specific early slots for routine check ups such as Diabetic checks. Based on recent experience though don't expect the phone to be answered in under half an hour, don't expect an appointment in under 4 weeks and don't expect any form of sympathy from the reception / phone team. The overall patient experience is sadly woeful even though they do have some great doctors and nurses. Admin and management are simply woeful letting everyone down. Patients get badly treated and this undermines the great medical support when you actually see a professional.

Review titled Appointment nightmare
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I understand it’s not easy to get appointments but the system of ringing at 8.30 am for a same day appointment is a nightmare. Joined the queue but by the time my call was answered all the appointments had been taken. Gave me one for the following day. Couldn’t stand the pain anymore and at 9am went to the walk in centre in Widnes who referred me to hospital where I stayed until 10pm. Thinking I should cancel my appointment I called the surgery at 9am but stayed in the same queuing system just to cancel. Surely there should be an easier way to do this! Couldn’t do it online, the only other option I was told was to go to the surgery! I can understand why they do have a lot of missed appointments, when it’s not easy to cancel. Surely the text reminder you get could have an option. Trying to do the right thing

arrived at 9.20 for my 9.30 appt to have blood taken, 5 people waiting in front of me, presumably with appointments. On arrival ,I thought how can they be so far behind they have one been open for 40 mins. As each patient was called, the nurse/proffessional apologised for "keeping you waiting" and so it was, some 40mins after my appt time, which I had waited 3 1/2 weeks for ,I was called in with the automatic apology trotted out ,without a trace of sincerity. nobody offered any forewarning of the delay, nor any explanation. I would happily change GP surgery but, they all appear to be equally incompetent, whilst never tiring of telling you that they are under massive pressure. Just a shambles, got sent for a cranial CT scan results were clear, symptoms persisted ,really had to persuade the receptionist to give me a face-to-face. 4 weeks wait for an appt. He kept suggesting an e-consult yet did not seem to grasp that the symptoms just kept directing me to call A&E, where I had already attended for 10 hrs ! just useless and as long as they keep harping on about working under stress and pressures, we have no option other than accept this third rate, third world "service" they appear the longer we are forced to accept it

Review titled Impossible appointments
Rated 1 star out of 5

Phoned for appointment, told to go via eConsult, which I found was closed apparently early morning thing now, so had made appointment for nearly 5 weeks away, and was advised I could speak to a pharmacist who said he couldn’t treat a skin infection and I needed to speak to a GP and 5 weeks is too long. Phoned the surgery and told to find a walk-in centre. This is appalling. NHS almost disappeared and I would hate to have a stroke or a heart attack and rely on this system. I have been a patient since before any of these doctors have worked at the surgery and when it was in temporary premises, so I know what I am talking about. Gone downhill? It’s fallen off a cliff!!!
