  1. Review titled Mixed Story

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 September 2024

This surgery is such a mixed bag of pro's and con's. The main issue is the nightmareish fight to get an appointment. Not only are there very few slots, but the online-only system is positively Soviet in it's arcane, user-hostile complexity. Older people must cry at the hurdles you need to go through. The admin is awful. I have put in a written request no fewer than five times for my medical data not to be put online, because of the number of nhs (sorry, the "ai"filtering this review refuses all capitals so I can't write "nhs" as it should be written) security/data breeches that happen each year. Each time they take my medical record offline for around 6 months, then one day I find it silently placed online again, put back without a whisper to me. Additionally, I once had occassion to challenge a (absurd) note in my medical record. My challenge was refused; no process or rationale was offered to me as to why the absurd note was upheld, nor was I advised of any process or higher authority whereby I might take my objection further. As to the environment; the walls are covered with a ridiculous amount of posters, signs and notices, old and new, making finding anything half a day's work, and making the environment into a cluttered untidy mess. How nice it would be if the waiting room was visually a little bit relaxing. Today I used the weight/blood pressure machine. It thinks I am a full 4 inches shorter than my actual height, with a result that the b.m.i. calculation is hopelessly wrong, and this naturally throws doubt onto the accuracy of the weight reading too. The machine is certainly in severe need of recalibration - who monitors that and when? On the up side, the Doctors themselves, if you are lucky enough to see one, are generally helpful, knowledgable and attentive. They are amongst some of the finest clinicians I have ever had the good fortune to be treated by. I guess this fact alone almost outweighs the negatives - save for the obstacles in getting to see one. I do realise the running down of the nhs by a certain political party to make it fail as an excuse to privitise it is at the root of the shortage of Doctors though, and no fault of this particular practice. Overall diagnosis - the Doctors are good guys but everywhere else - room for improvement!

An informed discussion with a Doctor who took the time to listen and relay varied treatment options.

  3. Review titled Great experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I don't (luckily) normally have much cause to visit the GPs at Wells Park, but unusually have had to call on them more than once in recent weeks. Saw two lovely GPs, who listened, gave clear advice, and were helpful and patient; very thankful for their help. Also, must reference the new appointment process, which was excellent: fill in an easy online form, get a call back from one of the team who was friendly and polite, and arranged an appointment. One appointment was considered urgent and I saw a GP just over an hour after submitting the form. Quick, easy and very efficient - really impressive against the constant news stories of the pressures the NHS is under and how difficult it can be to get a NHS GP appointment. And all this at a very busy South London practice. Impressive.

  4. Review titled cannot book appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

I used to be able to use a contact form online to book appointments. I have tried calling, and have fully registered with the nhs app, but there does not appear to be an option for booking a routine appointment.

  5. Review titled Great receptionists

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by Matt H - Posted on 02 November 2023

Generally find it easy to get through to reception who are efficient and effective at sorting out appointments and admin issues, overall I think this is one of the better NHS GP surgeries, although like all others it is subject to the same lack of funding as the rest of the NHS.

Staff answer emails very quickly and communication is very good here. I have always managed to get an appointment whether it’s a telephone consultation or a face to face appointment.

  7. Review titled Fantastic practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Having recently joined this practice I am so impressed with the service offered. The staff, from reception to admin, to the nurses and doctors are a great team. Every single member is kind, friendly, professional and greatly advocate for their patients. Nothing seems like too much trouble. And everything is explained. They have done more for me in 2 weeks than my previous Doctors have done in the last 2 years I would highly recommend Wells Park Practice

  8. Review titled Improving

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I’ve been at this practice since it opened and it’s had its ups and downs. The doctors and nurses are good though there are a couple of doctors who could improve their diagnostic skills and bedside manner. I don’t visit very often but do get a bit tired of the “see how you are in a couple of weeks and come back if it doesn’t improve” approach. I know when something is wrong and wouldn’t bother going to see a doctor if I wasn’t concerned. Added to that the difficulty of getting another appointment. Nurses are superb. Getting an appointment and long waits on phone are the main problems but that is improving as are the reception staff. Recently had a flu jab, waited less than a minute for my appointment, lovely nurse, very professional and the jab didn’t hurt at all.

  9. Review titled Blood pressure

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Terence morris - Posted on 08 August 2023

Went in today to use blood pressure machine, but no ticket came out. One other person and myself told the receptionist about this, she said she would take a look, but never came over, so after about 10 minutes i gave up. Shoddy service, i was sent a text telling me to come in to use machine, and this happens. Surely staff should make sure at start of day, that machine is working, with tickets in it. Disgruntled of sydenham!
