  1. Review titled Efficient blood sampling

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Alan Smith - Posted on 13 June 2023

I have had blood tests done at the surgery several times. I have been very impressed by the professionalism of the practitioner. She pays intense attention to the personal details, the requested tests and the labelling of the phials. She does not allow any interruption to distract her. I feel in safe hands and I have full confidence in her work and precision.

  3. Review titled Impossible to get results or any information on tests

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 March 2023

I am currently 6 months into a referral for long Covid. The first 3 months were wasted because of an administrative error which led to me being un-referred, something I only discovered when I followed up myself. I am currently waiting for results of tests, that the receptionists tell me are “abnormal”, but I cannot get any information from the GP until 5 weeks after the test. The booking process for appointments is horrific. The waiting time to make tiny progress on referrals is awful. The lack of follow up care is shocking. It seems as if the onus is entirely on the patient to make appointments on the off chance they are needed, rather than the GPS taking overall responsibility for the health of the patient and the completion of an investigation (which should include informing the patient of the outcome).

We are not confident your comment relates to our specific Victoria Medical Centre, SW1V. If your results are marked as abnormal we have systems in place where patients are contacted and invited in for an appointment with a clinician on the same day if deemed necessary or sometimes at a later date if not marked as clinically urgent. It is impossible for us to remark on your comments about the long covid referral administrative error without knowing specific personal data relating to you. We would be more than happy to investigate the issue if you telephone the practice and ask to speak with our complaints officer Teeo Tediose. We are very sorry that you feel let down about the management of your care. We would be only too pleased to assist you if you contact the practice directly allowing us an opportunity to put things right for you.

  5. Review titled Great Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 February 2023

I visited the practice today to ask about whether a letter from a recent visit to the hospital had been received. The receptionist checked and confirmed that no letter had been received. I expected her to suggest that I contact the hospital. However she said that she would contact them on my behalf and ask about the results and then email me.I really appreciated this. Many thanks

  6. Review titled Unqualified staff and long process

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 February 2023

My father booked a prescription through phone for his gout and when he went to pick it up, the receptionist said that the doctor refused it because of his heart condition although, this tablets were giving to him last time when he ended up at the emergency because the GP refused to see him, but insisted to book a phone appointment although my dad was in pain and couldn't walk properly. When I asked the receptionist today why they didn't contacted him to let him know so he wouldn't have to walk in pain to the GP for nothing, her answer was "We don't have enough staff and it's not my business to do that" When I asked what happenes next as my father needs the medication because of the pain and not being able to walk properly she said "I'm not qualified for this" and then she said she'll hang up the phone if I'm getting mad about the situation, which I'm absolutely sure that after an experience like that regarding somebody you love everyone will be for not receiving the help needed. It's a shame and a shock considering the money everyone is paying monthly to the NHS, but when you need help they don't have time for you.

The doctor may well have declined the medication request for safety reasons and/or in the interest of the patient’s wellbeing. We have spoken to all receptionist about the incident you reported but none of them recall the incident or making such statements you mentioned in your comment. Without the specific details of the patient concerned it is very difficult for us to reconcile the incident you are referring to. It is highly unusual for a patient not to be given any further options to resolve their request for medication or medical assistance. If your father continues to have medical requirements please contact the practice and ask to speak with Katherine Smith who will do her best to help you and your father.

  7. Review titled Not a great first impression

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 February 2023

I recently registered and took in my ID to request a GP appointment so I could obtain some repeat medication. I was abruptly told there are no appointments available. They almost seemed proud of this fact. I had request a clinical pharmacist review my request for a repeat prescription who then told me I need to make a GP appointment for such a request. It seems chaotic at best. Not a great first impression.

Dear Sir, We are sorry for your initial experience. Upon looking through your medical records it appears as you have registered with us within the last 7 days we do not yet have your full medical records to prescribe your medication and a review was required. We normally ask new patients to ensure they have an adequate supply of medication from their previous prescriber as it can take some time for us to receive all the required data in order for us to prescribe ongoing medication. Your individual situation was looked into by two members of staff and a healthcare administrator called you to discuss this matter. We note you have been contacted by telephone and you were booked an appointment face to face to resolve the matter with a clinician in the interest of your wellbeing. I hope this resolves your issue and you have a better experience with us going forward.

  8. Review titled bad practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 January 2023

have called to make an appointment for a very bad rash I was told the first appointment was nearly a month away. I went to see the a Pharmacist - they told me i need to see a doctor especially if it spread. It did I called back - same result - a three and a half week wait for an appointment. I returned to the pharmacy and they said it had not only spread but also got infected. Long story short I had to call 111 and see out of hours gp at the weekend. all of this has lasted nearly two weeks and i have a horrible infection that has now spread throughout. I can only call this negligent and have since left the practice

Dear patient, We are most concerned with your recent comment. None of the staff who have been on reception duties recall a patient presenting with such symptoms and if you was redirected by a pharmacist or any third party triaging service our protocol is to ensure you speak with a relevant clinician at the practice. We have an ‘on the day’ appointment facility specifically for the types of clinical presentation you have drawn our attention to. We are surprised and sorry to learn of this particular incident in light of our in-house protocols and processes that we have in place especially to accommodate such requests. Our complaints officer would welcome a conversation with you directly by contacting the practice to investigate this matter further.

  9. Review titled Thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

would like to compliment the receptionist who was on reception on Friday 13 January. I had to wait in a queue so had time to observe her interaction with a number of patients. She was polite, engaging, patient and dealt with a couple of difficult people well diffusing the situation, she also enormously helped an elderly patient who seemed confused. She needs to be commended for her attitude, patience and excellent communication/interpersonal skills, she is a credit to the Victoria Medical Centre. Please pass on my thanks for the work that she does.
