Review titled Practice gone pear shape
by Keith Pratt - Posted on 15 July 2024
The most trouble I have with Velans is getting an appointment. I registered with Anima but to log in is an assault course. Every time I put in my password it says it doesn’t recognise. The change which I have done but to day is the straw that broke the camels back. The change in my password this morning is not acceptable to night. I am seriously thinking of leaving and registering at another practice. It is so frustrated.Keith Pratt

It took 4 days for my request via anima to be responded to.Can never get an appointment as easily as the last two years. Important issues that are not immediately life threatening not seen to in a timely fashion..this includes trying to get a reasonably quick response through anima.. Waited 4 days plus

Do not want to use new anima online service. It's a total waste of time. We need to go back to speaking to a human. I received two worrying texts from a doctor with very little explanation and no appointment. I telephoned the surgery and after 4 attempts of hanging on for 40 or more minutes I got in touch and was told the 'team' would be informed. I asked who the team were but got no answer. I said I wanted to speak to a doctor about the texts an eventually found part of the answer on the dreaded anima saying I had an appointment I think with some kind of clinician on the phone. I have since looked up the appointment on anima but it appears to be gone as it says no appointments. I do not want to receive texts or use anima as I would rather have a letter sent through the post with times and dates of appointments so that I don't get mixed up. The whole practice has gone downhill and both my husband and I do not feel our health is any longer in safe hands. We don't understand all this online stuff and we should be allowed to get our appointments in a far easier manner.

Review titled Failing organisation

Having had experience of this practice for a number of years I have sadly watched the GP service go from excellent to what can only be described as chaotic and dysfunctional. Whilst I'm sure the GP's and Nurses and support staff are doing their very best to ensure good patients outcomes, whoever is now managing the practice is clearly implementing systems which hinder access to the medical support required by the patients in their care. Anima is a case in point. Interestingly, Anima on their sales site suggest one of the key benefits of the system is to reduce telephone contact, I used Anima, had an appointment booked and confirmed by text but Anima had no record of this appointment so I still had to ring the surgery to confirm I had actually had one, so it's not even achieving it's key objective, given the need to contact the surgery via phone to confirm. I had asked to see a GP but once again saw a nurse practitioner who wasn't able to deal with my complaint. Total mess, I know the issue is funding but be honest with patients, stop pretending the system is working, you're wasting more money having to see patients multiple times to arrive at a diagnosis.

Review titled Appalling online request service.
Rated 1 star out of 5

The new online only method of contact is awful! Only open till 2pm, no option of choice of time to be contacted back. The promises this would streamline services have sadly not been the case. I feel for the staff too and people who are not able to use Internet have no hopes of getting their request heard. Unable to arrange a vax appt, which I was texted about by phone. I was asked to contact surgery but phone system no longer let's you speak to someone to arrange appointment. I had to do an online request and am waiting for a call at some point. If I miss the call, will have to do another online request!

Review titled Very disappointing experience

I am in pain due to a torn cartilage. It is affecting my mobility. I am lucky to have private medical care but always need a GP to sign one form prior to private treatment. Too hard that for Valens Brockwell Surgery - even when your GP is a few yards away in the building! After a day waiting for the the GP to sign the form I visited the surgery. My letter had not been opened and I was sent packing being told over and over again that it takes 5-7 days to have documents signed. There was no negotiation. How poor. No ‘extra mile’ here.

Review titled What is the point

Have wanted to see a doctor face to face for over 12 months now to discuss several problems but to no avail. Now in my 60s and have been put on 2 life long tablets over the phone which i'm not happy about. I can see that work is been done behind the scenes by my online medical records but face to face contact to discuss my issues and treatment might help put my mind to rest. Getting through to the practice by telephone is an absolute joke so requires a extra trip to surgery to try and book a phone call appointment at the desk if your lucky. Put in my first request on Anima today as no one answering phone so will see how that goes but not holding my breath. Whats gone wrong? Practice has been fine until Valens have taken over and now you cant get an appointment. Doctors themselves have been great in the past when i have seen them but are they now all working from home? Totally lost faith in the practice now and not what i need at my age. Sort yourselves out please.
