Review titled I Can't Contact the Surgery through NHS App
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 October 2024
I need to order a repeat prescription. At 11.00 this morning I tried to contact the Unity Health surgery to do so using the NHS App. This is one of the ways Unity Health states that patients can order repeat prescriptions and I have used the NHS App for this purpose previously. However this morning I have been unable to do so. The reason the NHS App gives is that it "needs to connect to your GP surgery and has not been able to. This may be because your GP surgery has changed their details." This is very poor patient service.

Review titled Can't Get Through to Surgery

I tried to contact the surgery through their website around 10.30 am on a normal working day but the website was unresponsive. Apparently it has been redesigned but the new version does not seem to be functioning correctly. Very poor patient service.

Review titled Can't Contact Surgery via Website
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 October 2024
I was unable to contact the surgery via website - feedback from IT expert advises Unity Health as follows. "Contact your hosting provider letting them know your web server is not completing requests. An Error 522 means that the request was able to connect to your web server, but that the request didn't finish. The most likely cause is that something on your server is hogging resources." I hope this is helpful but I shouldn't have needed to investigate it for you. Very poor patient service.

Review titled Would not reccomend
Rated 1 star out of 5

I feel the receptionists main purpose is to not give you an appointment. I appreciate the need to signpost people to the correct place which isn’t always the GP but they don’t ask enough questions or give enough information to settle concerns and leave you feeling dejected and not listened to. I feel you need to be very confident or forward to be able to manage this interaction and would reccomend anyone less confrontational to use a different GP. I recently had some concerns and called in, got fobbed off and the impact of this then is me needing to put pressure on other services such as A and E, walk in places, self medicate or suffer in silence which I just don’t think is acceptable. I don’t want to have a battle everytime I have a need for primary health care.

This surgery does its best to brush off students and not give them an appointment. All you get told is go to a pharmacy .

Review titled Medical Gaslighting
Rated 1 star out of 5

Previously I had pretty good experiences with this GP, having short wait times for appointments and quick turn over for getting prescriptions. However, I have been having an issue for the past 3 years around my vision whiting out and getting dizzy and weak whilst doing exercise. Repeatedly I have had to keep making appointments to get them to continue to look into things when tests come back negative and at my last appointment I was told “have I considered not running” and when I expressed I need to do exercise to keep healthy I was told “it sounds like it’s not an issue if it stops when you sit down” and that the GP thought it was “just anxiety” despite me having had anxiety my whole life and these symptoms only having appeared in the past few years. The experience of being blatantly lied to my face made me shaky and anxious and this was used to justify the GP’s diagnosis. I will no longer be going back to this GP and am furious at this treatment

Review titled Terrible
Rated 1 star out of 5

Despite having a GP surgery on campus, this service seems to hate students and me, and others I've spoken to, have felt that we haven't been taken seriously. I have a long-term undiagnosed chronic pain condition, which got no treatment for the 4 years I was at this surgery. Every appointment I saw a different GP who I had to update on my symptoms, feeling like I had to start from scratch every single appointment. One GP said, without any tests or physical examinations, that I had fibromyalgia (which then wasn't put on my medical record) and prescribed me codeine phosphate and told me I would not be receiving further treatment. Not only is codeine not used as a treatment for fibromyalgia, it was given as a one off prescription (not sure how this was supposed to help with ongoing pain?) to take daily - which seems like a completely ill informed decision considering the fact that it's addictive and you begin to develop a tolerance. It honestly felt as if they didn't believe me about my chronic pain and treated me as an inconvenience.

Review titled Web based interaction... good luck trying on the phone
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Roy Morley - Posted on 09 November 2023
Just terrible... have now gone to a 'website solution' or a central phone line manned by someone who doesnt really know how the system works & tells you that everyone else is too 'busy'. God help you if you actually need urgent medical attention... be easier to get a taxi to A & E

Dear Mr Morley I can't see that you are a registered patient at our Practice, and as we don't use a website solution, can I suggest you check that you are reviewing the correct surgery? Thank you Louise Johnston, Managing Partner, Unity Health

Review titled Excellent service and highly recommend
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by David - Posted on 16 August 2023
Thoroughly excellent service by all concerned. Telephoned first thing to report an acute medical issue and call answered after only a short wait. Placed on list for duty doctor and called back within 15 minutes to confirm a face to face appointment for late morning. Excellent, thorough and listening consultation with GP leading to diagnosis and treatment plan. Prescription processed and picked up within half an hour of consultation. Thanks to all for thoroughly professional and considerate care. Could not have treated any better and highly recommend.

Review titled Prompt Referral Solved My Problem
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 November 2022
Upon phoning NHS 111, I was told that my symptoms were serious and that I needed to see a doctor. NHS 111 contacted Unity Health on my behalf and arranged an appointment. Despite a failure of communication between NHS 111 and Unity Health, I was seen by a Unity Health GP the next day who confirmed NHS 111's concerns and arranged an appointment for me at York Hospital within the hour. This GP brought the consultation forward at considerable inconvenience to herself to expedite access to hospital care. I think she worked through her lunch break to do this. The consultation was thorough, gave me plenty of time to describe my symptoms and gave me a full run-down of the suspected medical condition in terms I could understand. This imparted confidence. The GP's manner was friendly, reassuring and professional. There was genuine "two way communication". I was seen at York Hospital as an urgent referral where specialist medical attention resulted in the exclusion of a potentially life-changing disability. The Unity Health Receptionist and Triage Nurse were also crucial in facilitating my access to this care. Both acted swiftly and effectively to get things moving and dealt with me in a friendly and supportive manner. First-rate care.
