Review titled Unhelpful, and downright rude receptionist
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Mrs Middleton - Posted on 15 March 2024
My 81 year old dad has multiple health issues and has been a patient with Penn surgery for 57 years. Today he is in pain with one of his conditions . On the advice of his consultant at Stoke Mandeville hospital ,he called the surgery to see if a dr could prescribe him some anti inflammatory medication. There were no appointments available , which we understand but said dad doesn’t need an appointment . If a Dr could just call between patients or after surgery to confirm he can write a prescription that would be great. She haughtily replied “that is an appointment” he will have to call back Monday. I explained he is in pain and just needs a script, can’t wait until Monday. She said to call 111 and put the phone down on me!! My own surgery is local and a Dr will always call if there are no appointments available , or we can see the paramedic . I have to say not all the receptionists are as haughty as this one. I know if she would just get off her high horse and asked a Drs advice my dad could have got the script he needed.

Review titled Rude & unhelpful
Rated 1 star out of 5

Advised by our GP in Cheltenham to contact our parents GP practice to assist in seeing our 3.5yr old son, as we were away from home. The receptionist who I explained our situation to was, unsympathetic, short & rude. “We can’t help” “turning our own patients away, so can’t see you” Didn’t offer any other options or advice to help in our unusual situation.

My uncle is registered blind and was in hospital last year, has heart failure and cannot walk as his foot is decaying and told may need to be amputated. He has home care and a nurse comes about twice a week to change his bandage on his foot. Phoned surgery for covid vaccination at home and given number to ring. Phoned number told for someone to come home needs to be registered as housebound. Called surgery and receptionist spoke to doctor refused to register as housebound despite all the issues highlighted and drs from surgery have been making home visits.

Review titled Very, very difficult to get through on phone
Rated 3 stars out of 5

Have tried calling 4 times this afternoon. Each time I'm put into a queue. Each time I become the 1st in the queue, the hold music and repeated message stops, and the phone rings, and rings, and rings, and nobody picks up.
