Review titled Poor unprofessional practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 23 September 2024
Has been a disaster from the very start. Spoken to several receptionist over the phone, all unhelpful and make empty promises. Absolutely no support for digitally excluded patients. Appointment system is very out dated, have to have a GP call before face to face appointment - a total waste and cause duplicate appointments. The reception team very unhelpful, unprofessional manner, very hostile. Do not support patients who are unable to frequently attend due to mobility issues. Reception team rush you off the phone, no management around to raise issues. They urgently need a CQC inspection!

I am a GP myself and I found the receptionist on the front desk this morning, Tuesday 17th September, to be hostile . She made me feel that it was inappropriate to check in with her , rather than digitally , despite me saying that I had an additional admin query .

Review titled Great practive
Rated 4 stars out of 5

Great practice, very happy with GPs and nurses and their approach. Making morning appointment on a day can be challenging. I was so lucky to speak to a lovely receptionist one morning who arranged GP appointment straight away. She was very kind, professional and reassuring. Sadly next morning there was a different receptionist who made me feel my condition is not an emergency to be seen by GP. She did not take my date of birth straight away like previous receptionist had when I asked for an appointment. I had to explain myself in details before she was willing to arrange the appointment. I was 6th in line to call in a morning and I've explained what had happened to me previous day. She insisted it was not an emergency. I've explained that it was not an emergency for A&E but still serious therefore I would like to be seen by GP. Whole experience was rather unpleasant, unwelcoming and it felt like the receptionist tried to get rid of me and not to arrange much needed appointment. Eventually the appointment was arranged.

Review titled Prompt efficient service and delivery
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mary Hayes - Posted on 13 March 2024
I left an on-line message, expecting reply within 2 days. Response and action taken on my request within approximately 1 hour by my allocated Doctor. One main reason I will not move from Barnet is because of the excellent service I receive from my doctor and all his colleagues. This isn't a one off compliment; I have complicated quite serious health issues that could cause serious affects and with this in mind, they make me feel safe and listened to. This is extremely important that I feel safe and actually listened to, as sometimes patients do know what they need if they are used to dealing with chronic illnesses. I thank you all for that courtesy.

Review titled Bad practice
Rated 1 star out of 5

you can not reach the practice at all on the phone. Takes if you are lucky minimum 30 mins to answer and that's on a good day. More likely to get it answered in 1 - 1.5 hours only to be told irrelevant or wrong information. They don't even know what is happening with referrals and I have to chase them for it rather than the other way round. Website gives wrong information. It leads you to Patient Access platform for online appointments only to register and be told that the service is not available for this particular GP through the platform. neither is it available through the NHS app. Overall bad service

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear you have found it difficult to reach us by phone. The phone lines are open between 8.30 - 12.30 and 2.00 - 6.30 (12.30 - 2 is for emergency calls only). We experience a very high volume of calls every morning as we are taking bookings for on the day or urgent appointments. If your call is not for an appointment or is not urgent it is suggested to call us after 10 am or in the afternoon. Alternatively, you can use a 'contact us' form on our website www.theoldcourthousesurgery.co.uk. I have reviewed our website and all links have been updated to direct you to the preferred NHS app to register for online services. If no appointments are showing this means they are currently fully booked. If you would like to discuss your feedback in further detail then please do contact me at the surgery and I will be happy to speak to you. Kind regards, Georgina Rider - practice manager.

Review titled Prescription problems
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Callum Rae - Posted on 13 June 2023
I've been at this surgery for 2 and a half years. Overall I've found the doctor's very helpful, but I've been plagued by problems with my repeat prescriptions, which can take weeks to show up from the time you request them. Today I called up asking for help with an emergency prescription and was curtly told they wouldn't help and I would have to use their normal prescription request form. As that could take weeks I've had to urgently seek help elsewhere. I will be leaving the practice as I am a diabetic and it's essential I receive my medications when I need them. I can't keep waiting and risking my health.

Dear Mr Rae, thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear you have experienced issues with your prescriptions. Our receptionists are unable to take requests over the phone as this could cause safety issues if the wrong medication is prescribed. Requests can be made on our website, via the NHS app, in writing at the surgery or via your pharmacy if they offer this service. Requests take 48 hours to be processed and sent to your pharmacy. It is advisable for patients to order their prescription at least 1 week before they run out but if this is not possible and an urgent prescription is needed a request should still be made via one of the routes advised and a note added stating it is urgent. We will then expedite this request. I note your prescription was issued shortly after your call yesterday and sent to your pharmacy. I am sorry to hear to you will be leaving the surgery, but if you would like to discuss this further, please contact me at the surgery. Practice Manager

Review titled Brilliant practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Old Courthouse is an excellent surgery, with wonderful staff. The doctors and nurses are knowledgable and professional but also sympathetic and friendly. It's very efficiently run in terms of getting appointments, prescriptions and referrals. Recently, I had a phone consultation for knee pain. Very quickly I was sent a link to book an MRI scan which I had within the week. I have already had the results explained to me by both a physio and a doctor at the surgery and have now been referred to hospital for further treatment. I'm impressed!

Our receptionists are working under pressure but always endeavour to help patients in a caring and efficient manner, which does sometimes mean longer wait times on the telephones and at reception. I have always had a good experience with this surgery. Their online service is fantastic, whenever I submit my issue or query I have a response within 24 hours from the doctors or reception staff. The doctors are efficient and helpful, as are the staff. I would highly recommend this surgery.

Review titled Helpful Receptionists
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by MAA - Posted on 02 February 2023
I have sadly had to ask for the help of the receptionists at Old Court House to help me navigate the inefficiencies of the hospital referral system, get urgent medical help and on occasion to support a family member access support lately. I have found the receptionists who are put in the role of gate keepers to be really helpful and understanding. This has changed hugely in the last 2/3 years and has left me feeling very grateful for the kindness and help. Thank you.
