Review titled Good GPs but very hard to access appointments
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 March 2024
When you can get an appointment with a GP, the quality of care is very good. However, the booking system is awful and trying to get an appointment is stressful and often fails. The online booking system rarely works and there are often long waits using the telephone booking system (this morning I waited 45 minutes and there were no appointments when I got through). This has been a problem for years. They urgently need to address this to improve access for all.

Review titled Unreliable
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 January 2024
A few times over the last year (And including today), my appointments are rescheduled on average about 3 times before I can actually see a nurse for basic health needs. They do not help with IUD and they seem to be incapable of sticking to a smear test appointment.

Dear Patient, We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by appointment rescheduling. Please be aware that our facility does not directly handle IUD fitting or removal; these specialised procedures take place in settings specifically trained for family planning services. We value your feedback and are actively working to enhance the scheduling process for smear appointments. While we don't directly manage the local PCN-hosted clinics, we provide the room space for these services. A nurse is available at our practice during working hours Monday to Friday for cervical screening. If you've encountered issues, I would like to investigate and address them personally. Please email me at theneamanpractice@nhs.net, addressing it to the management team. I am committed to resolving any concerns and ensuring a positive experience for you. Once again, I apologise for any inconvenience, and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards, Sinead Downes Deputy manager

Review titled Cervical cancer screening and flu jab
by Anonymous12345678 - Posted on 21 October 2023
Wanted to give feedback about Anike who I visited twice in the last two years. For the first occasion, she did my cervical cancer screening about two years ago where I arrived very worried. She not only did the examination without causing any pain but also explained more about the different outcomes that helped me with my worries and felt a lot better after leaving the surgery. I could also ask a few additional questions from her that she answered. She didn't have to start a conversation with me or to answer those extra questions (that also perfectly fit into the allocated time for my appointment) but she did and I felt it was very easy to talk to her and she was very kind. The second time I visited her was last week when my daughter got her flu jab. Anike was again talking to her and explained in a funny way to a three year old what she is going to do and my daughter knew what is going to happen and that it won't be painful. At the end my daughter not only knew what is going to happen but didn't seem worried at all! She was even happier after the flu jab when she got her sticker that she showed proudly to everyone at home! I feel that Anike went over and beyond in these two cases and she is definitely one of the doctors I remember the most and appreciate how much effort and care she puts into her work!

Review titled Making an appointment to speak to a doctor
by beidqj85 - Posted on 20 July 2023
The appointment system is utterly chaotic - I find it a scramble every morning for appointments at 8.30am that no matter when you call have either gone or there’s only ever a phone appointment. I just find it appallingly bad every single time. And then the doctor never ever rings when they’re supposed to anyway. How anyone who works, is frail or vulnerable manages to get satisfaction is beyond me. And I have not found any point whatsoever feeding back because nothing ever seems to change to me. I have found the service is shockingly bad and has got worse and worse and worse . The idea that the patient actually matters seem to have got completely lost.

Review titled The staff are always always so friendly
by Lancaster2328 - Posted on 21 July 2023
Amazing! No matter how poorly I feel when I ever come into the practice the staff are always always so friendly, they take their time with all their patients and make sure they reach the patients needs. Also on top form with appointments, everything. There is not one thing I can say that the Neaman Practice let me down on this from personal experience.

Review titled Accessing regular prescription items at different times
by nitratekp99 - Posted on 27 July 2023
I visited the surgery to explain that an item was missing from my prescription. I was told I’d have to talk with a doctor to sort this out. I was given a 3 hour window where the doctor would call me that afternoon. Later in the day I received a text to say the doctor would ring at a specific time. 15 minutes before that time I noticed I’d missed a call from the surgery. I rang the surgery to apologise and after a little time was told a doctor would ring me back. They did and the prescription item was reinstated and the following day I collected it from the pharmacy. All my communications with the practice were helpful and courteous. The problem would never have arisen if there was a clear system for regular prescription items to be accessed at different times.

Dear Patient, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding our prescription service. While I cannot comment specifically on your individual case, your insights are valuable to us. At our practice we adhere to a standard prescription model with a 48-hour window for processing. The on-call GP is available to address any issues throughout the day, ensuring a smoother patient experience. However, in instances where specific information is required for safe prescription monitoring, or in cases of human error, there may be a need for additional communication. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the wait for the GP's call. We hope for your understanding that the on-call GP triages daily clinical requests based on urgency, as this service is not scheduled and routine. Your perspective is essential to our ongoing efforts to improve our services. If there are specific concerns or if you require further assistance, please feel free to contact us directly. We appreciate your patience and trust in our practice. Thank you for being a valued patient. Kind regards, Sinead Downes Deputy manager

Review titled Kindness to a patient with memory absence
by Lily of the valley - Posted on 05 June 2023
I overheard a patient say she felt depressed. She was known to the reception team, who rallied round, making time to talk to her. Carefully going through patients upcoming appointments several times and treating her with kindness. It did make me think that for patients with declining memory how can we as a community help, maybe volunteer to accompany people to appointments.

Thank you for your suggestion. It is important to ensure that the patient's voice is heard and that they have a platform to express their views and experiences while at the surgery. The best way to respond without neglecting our confidentiality to any patient would to make some suggestions that will help you be more apart of how you experience your time at the surgery and where you can have a place for discuss your views. One way to encourage your active participation is by inviting you to attend the Patient Participation Group (PPG) meetings quarterly. The PPG serves as a valuable forum where patients can share their perspectives, provide feedback, and contribute to improving the overall healthcare experience. By attending these meetings, the patient can directly express their views, concerns, and suggestions to the healthcare providers and contribute to shaping the policies and services that affect them. Encouraging you to join the PPG will not only empower yourself but to share your experiences. It is essential to create an inclusive and supportive environment where patients feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and where their input is valued. In summary, we welcome the opportunity to hear more from you and to attend the PPG. You can email your interest to theneamanpractice@nhs.net and the administration team will send you out a link. If this is not of interest to you, I am happy for you to pop me and email and I can discuss your suggestions further with you.
