Arrived at the surgery and was greeted by a volunteer (?) who ensured I was checked in. Called for my vaccinations within minutes and left before my appointment time. All very efficient and professional.

Review titled Always available when it counts

I find this GP easy to contact and they do get back to you. Appointments are timely. GP knowledgeable and reassuring. My recent visit for flu and Covid vaccine was prompt and the nurse friendly. In these days of NHS struggles this one is a good one!

Review titled Awkward process - Confusing management - not yet complete
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Mario Francesco Violentano - Posted on 28 October 2024
Spent 40 minutes completing online consultation for non-urgent condition. Response from practise within 1 hour. Told to expect a call "this afternoon". There was no option to respond to the message for clarification of time, this led to my doing a consultation over my mobile phone while standing in the lobby of the Odyssey cinema. I was asked to provide a urine sample and agreed to bring one to the surgery. Unfortunately I hadn't asked for clarification of which surgery. I called at the lodge on my way home to try to clarify where I needed to go. It took a 10 minute conversation with reception in the lodge to determine that the doctor whose name was on the phone consult notification was at highfield surgery, but that this was not the doctor who had actually done the consultation, who was at Redbourn. I called at Redbourn and delivered the sample. The current result is indecisive, and it is not clear what will happen next. In Summary - The E-consult system is a lengthy process to provide information. I appreciate this is necessary and can save much of a doctors time. - Notification of a consultation is not very precise. I appreciate this allows best use of the doctors time, however the ability to give feedback before the appointment to advise of patient availability times will allow the patient to be in an appropriate location for the discussion. - The consultation invitation should include the name and location of the practitioner who will be making the call (or at least send some form of written confirmation of this before the interview). - Reviews like this would make more sense if the request for feedback was requested after the treatment was complete.

Review titled A fast and efficient outcome
by Ebony Bright - Posted on 09 October 2024
I thought it would be impossible to get a GP appointment, which was needed due to a difficult health diagnosis. I rang the surgery and explained that as much I wasn’t feeling unwell, I needed to see a GP to move forward with ongoing issues. The reception team were patient, understanding and agreed that I needed to be seen. I rarely have health issues and wouldn’t normally call on my GP (unless it was my children who were poorly). I felt a bit silly and didn’t want to take up the resources from someone who may be more needy. I’m glad I did. I had high blood pressure, which is now being monitored by me at home, unmedicated. I have a plan in place after being sent for blood tests, to help reduce my cholesterol level. I’m not over weight, I’m fairly fit and hit 16,000 steps a day. The GP has made me realise that I need to cut back on a lot of things that aren’t good for me and that weight/moderate exercise isn’t enough to stay healthy (my assumption - not something the GP had said). They are tracking this health journey and will see me again to check on things. I needed my mind to be at rest and that’s the point I would like to make. As much as it wasn’t an emergency, I’m glad I’ve been seen as high blood pressure can be very detrimental, even if it’s a short spurt due to stress and anxiety. I have 2 brain aneurysm’s which are absolutely sitting ducks and not going to harm me. However, that news was scary. They really looked after me and have stayed in touch since. I’m extremely grateful. Thank you.
