    Been with the practice a few months. Doctors are nice and receptionists pleasant but admin is really poor. I sent a message through their online system one Sunday, explaining that I was in Scotland and asking if they could send my prescription to a pharmacist in Fort William. When I called 5 days later, having heard nothing, I was advised that my prescription had been issued to Asda in Harrogate. I was advised to call Asda and ask them to release my prescription to 'the NHS spine', from where the pharmacist in Scotland could access it. I got through to Asda on attempt #12 and they did as I asked. I was then told by the pharmacist in Scotland that they can't access the spine, as they're on a different system. They asked me to get the prescription emailed to them by my GP. I relayed that request to the practice and was promised a phone call from a doctor, which never came. Finally, 8 days after sending in the original prescription request, I received a text message saying they can't send prescriptions to Scottish pharmacies and what I was looking for could actually be purchased over the counter. I don't want to bang on about wasting resources but... if the first person had read my message properly, it would have saved 8 days and negated the need for 6 different people to engage on 20 subsequent phone calls. On another occasion, a message I sent to the practice through the online system was pinned to my record but never acted upon, so this wasn't a one-off event.

    In mid november , after several days of illness, I , rather nervously, phoned the practice first thing monday morning. I found the telephone queuing system reassuring and clear. The receptionist was kind and noted my symptoms. I was phoned back, as promised, by the nurse practitioner , who listened carefully and gave me an urgent appointment that morning. I was seen by a helpful paramedic , who examined me and referred me to the Same Day Emergency Clinic at the hospital . My blood tests showed that I had very high infection levels and a CT scan confirmed an appendicitis. By early evening I was admitted to a ward and started my treatment with IV antibiotics. I was so thankful for the combination of an efficient system, skilled and considerate staff , which meant that a serious problem was diagnosed and the correct treatment started , within the day. Thank you to all the team.
